On a personal level Isaiah seems like a very kind and sincere dude who would make a good friend, but tbh I've been feeling like his channel has gotten more impersonal and "corporate" as the years have gone on. I could be mistaken but it seems to be a trajectory with all modern YouTubers these days - the only ones who I think "made it big" and retained their authenticity to any degree were Pewdiepie and Markiplier. You see it even in relatively small fry like the commentary community spergs. I don't think Isaiah will go down that route necessarily but he must be absolutely rolling in money for content that doesn't really warrant it - it's gotten increasingly low effort as time has gone on, not that it was very high-brow to begin with. Maybe I'm just blackpilled but it's nigh on impossible to find any YouTuber that doesn't produce slop or devolve into slop eventually.

Completely agreed. Something in the new videos seems to be lacking compared to the early ones. This new production value and all the toys and crap filling his background room now kinda seems to take the heart out of it a bit. Maybe with all the side projects he's splitting his effort away from videos more now.

He is going to play it safe. He already built a reputation, a bag and has the corpo seal of approval, he isn't an idiot so he probably is going to live th rest of his days in relative easy mode as long as he doesn't screw it up. Now, being a 'good' person, as in I like being around this person, isn't usually similar to being a good boss so I predict Wendi has signed himself to the same destiny as the Nostalgia Critic.
Why do YouTubers become insufferable when they get big? Well, the moment you officially have 100k people out there who like to hear you yap is the moment you receive a trophy and can start considering that maybe you are suddenly too good for your job as a janitor or teacher. YouTubers tend to hang in circles, where they all talk the same and worry about the same things. When you made it you have to start worrying about keeping it and since it superficially is similar to how people change when starting a family it explains why whenever these people become sterile talking heads too scared to say certain words they cope by saying they 'grew up' or 'matured'. Most people that make it don't deserve it tbqh, the Internet also is a game of who you know or for how long can you waste time grinding to then turn into who knows you. Influencers are retarded and those that sign for talent agencies are literal human cattle.

Jackson annoys me tremendously but not quite enough to change my background noise when grinding. Such is life. Oompaville is kinda growing on me though. Seems like a bit of a tard in an endearing way, and I find it amusing how he seems to be totally in the dark about anything discussed on Red Threads. If only Jackson didn't skim Wikipedia and knew to deliver an unbiased write-up.
But honestly, Wendi is fucking weird with what he doesn't like. This, the retarded hatred he had for the dad in Tommy Taffe, his autistic hate boner for Bluejay from Left/Right Game. Then he'll turn around and deep throat that Backroom dude's stuff and shit like Monument Mythology.
Yeah I remember when this shit first blew up and everyone was dogging it as the worst thing ever, but listening to it through this episode and it's just.. like everything else? Particularly by this author? And not really any worse than Borrasca; which I'd argue is actually far worse because it tries to play itself straight and serious despite being a thinly veiled rape/incest fanfic. While This story doesn't even attempt to be anything other than shocking.

UrbanSPOOK/The Painter was bad but I didn't really think it was egregiously bad. I think you could fix it without really changing anything, just redoing what was presented in a more polished voice, and spend a little bit of money to get practical effects for the pictures/videos, they don't have to be amazing if you're doing low res grainy VHS stuff, and have pictures of the paintings printed on canvas (or actually painted). I do think people's reactions are over the top to 'Fucktoy Cory' calling it child porn etc, like I don't think it's any worse than Borrasca's subject matter which people didn't complain about in the same way, but that's probably the one change I'd make, just get rid of the child rape because it doesn't add anything and it's such an easy target to attack and I don't even feel comfortable writing about it.
The audio recording of the woman being killed with a hammer drill/rotary hammer is awesome, if every entry had some of that energy on top of the paintings, and take away the low hanging fruit of Cory, add a dash of practical effects like I mentioned, it'd be a classic I think

It was a good episode but I didn't really care for the story. Not saying it was bad but body horror needs to be way more graphic for my tastes.
A grab bag of this authors other works would definitely be a good episode though.

Not a whole lot to say about It Breathes, Bleeds, Breeds, but I love the thumbnail, loved the story. Definitely want more from the author, the one-author grab bag is a great idea that I hope they commit to even if it ends up being a 3-4 hour beast of an episode
Slowly working my way through Stolen Tongues and it does get better but still a fairly weak episode up through about the halfway point. It could definitely do to be trimmed down as a story, so I'm curious how the novelization which is presumably longer compares

The interesting thing about the whole child rape in urbanSpook is, if anything, it's one of the few things that aren't elaborated on. Can't help but think many of the people who got especially offended filled in the blanks with their own perversions.

The last two episodes of Red Thread were pretty solid. The cryptid episodes are the ones I generally enjoy and the monkey man of New Delhi is reasonably interesting, and I liked the speculation they had on the monkey man potentially being a gay op against the government to convince them to stop diverting their water/electricity at night
