Wendigoon Thread

I'd like to give Oompa some more tries because I did enjoy the first one he was in, but I just haven't given a shit about anything they've covered.

I enjoyed the Monkey Man, Casey Anthony, and Sect of Nacozari episodes, with the Monkey Man episode being the only one I went into interested ahead of time (I didn't know anything about it but the cryptid episodes are generally my favorites)

Casey Anthony I knew the generalities of but I was too young to pay attention to it when she was in the news so it was nice to finally have the full context spoonfed to me while I was working

Sect of Nacozari I had no idea what to expect, went in totally blind. It was basically just how a human sacrifice cult formed and how they managed to get away with it for so long

The other episodes with him so far are more well-known things, Elisa Lam, MK Ultra, Operation Paperclip, Plum Island, and 9/11. They were enjoyable enough while I was working on other things but not so interesting they would have held my attention on their own, which is fine since that's all I want out of a podcast. I guess I did go into the Elisa Lam episode interested since that video is wild but the explanation was really boring (she was nuts and depressed and taking fistfuls of psych meds and just had a fit and probably just killed herself)

Not sure how well known the anthill kids are but I'd already seen Wendi's video on it and he shared part of an email he got from one of them as a result of his video which I found interesting but beyond that I don't really have any specific memories of the episode itself, it just blends in with Wendi's video, so maybe skip it if you've seen his video unless you just want to be angry at a cult leader a second time

(Sorry for bad formatting, phone fagging atm and can't fix it for whatever reason, will try to edit when I get back to computer if I can remember to. Edit: fix't)

Looks like the first live show just wrapped up today. That's probably what we're gonna get for Sunday. I really hope it's not cringe

New Wendigoon.

Edit; I haven't heard of this case before at all. Sounds absolutely wild so I am intrigued. I am a bit concerned that he mentioned the fed he interviewed for the Ted video since that one was rather mixed but I digress.

Also this gave me a slight jumpscare.

That takes some getting used to, Jesus fuck.
Actually, slap a hat and a flannel shirt on him and he looks like Llewelyn Moss from No Country for Old Men. Slightly amusing because Wendi did do a video on the movie.

He looks like In Praise of Shadows...

That moustache really accentuates how fucking stupid his nigger lips look.
Ngl the screen cap I got happens to make him look like a horse. It's so off putting but hey his wife likes it so good for them. Doesn't stop people from calling him a gooner in the comments though.

Oh well, it was a great video actually. Felt like a return to form of passion projects where he makes a video on a topic that he genuinely seemed interested in.

Including yelling at a skeleton. That caught me off guard too even if it was probably for comedic purposes.

Edit: Happy 100th page!

I wonder how bad the new Stalker film will be. Half expect it to be a VHS analog horror format.

Count Dankula already had a video on it, though before he had an unfortunate shave

Wendigoon's version is superior for having an actual example of the mechanisms with guns, unlike that funny island Dankula's on.

I don't know if its in their wheel house, but a episode covering some of the more famous /x/ stories could work really well with this format. I agree with what one of them said in the episode where they should probably take a break form Creepypastas for a while, I think they've milked that cow dry at this point.
I know I'm late as fuck to this, but I'm catching up on the thread.
I wonder how it would be received if they read stuff like innawoods greentexts. I know channels like Midnight Broadcast and especially T6 have a pretty decent sized and loyal fanbase. I think they might have a good time reading something like Anansi's Goatman, I know I'd enjoy watching it.
Or does the greentext idea hit too close to the dreaded 4chan for it to be well received, even if they do read heavily censored versions of them?

Charlie's voice being one monotonous drone is the most boring thing to listen to when it comes to podcasts. Not to mention his total disninterest in any topic he was presented with. Oompaville brings genuine energy and fits in way better. Charlie's other podcast he was involved with has improved massively since he left that as well.
I agree, Charlie didn't really contribute much to red thread, hardly participated in conversations and his reading was boring. Even keffals has less dead air than him.
Oompaville fits much better and participates more but I feel like he tries a bit too hard at times.
Also they need to fix the audio going mute at times, unless it's on purpose?

I'm not familiar with those, do you have any examples to share? He's talked about using 4chan as a research tool openly in videos, actively posting and not just reading, and Meat is pretty edgy so I don't think 4chan stuff would just be immediately dismissed out of hand

Depending on how short they are I think a micro-grab-bag episode could be fun, with some two sentence horror and things like that. The section of the pancake episode where Wendi wouldn't stop reading terrible two sentence horror stories and Meat was dying was great

E: Also, since no one posted it, the latest red thread was super interesting. I remember the anthrax attacks following 9/11 but I knew literally nothing about what actually happened. Probably nothing special if you've read up on it before but both of them (no Oompaville this week) came up with some great one liners about the guy towards the end I think so their discussion of him was fun

E2: also that fucking thumbnail lol

T6 seems like a total bro and he's definitely a 4chan tard just from his thumbnails alone, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was a channer. I usually pick his videos for when I want to sleep but can't. He's got a good narrator voice. It's chill, but not faggy ASMR like. Out of all those channels that read greentext stories this is the best one to go with.

Midnight Broadcast has 4chan greentext stories every single night. Here's some innawoods for you, I haven't watched this particular one in awhile so I hope it serves.
Some, if not all, of the stories have AI reading, but it's not the same voice every time and some don't sound bad at all, but given the Christopher Lee intro I think they're all AI. But they're consistent every single night and have good stories.

But some greentext stories on Creep Cast would be cool. /x/ and /k/ are autistic as fuck but sometimes that autism shines through into pure entertainment, and the fellas would have a blast. Especially Meat doing voices for Wendigo/skinwalker stories.

Watched a couple from that second link so far, I think, not necessarily those, but stories along those lines (ideally they have someone pick a handful of the best of the best and worst of the worst for them to read ahead of time) would work perfectly for the micro grab bag idea I had in mind

Thanks for sharing, definitely seems like good stuff to nap to

I think it's a bit of amateur editing leaving in general dead air since it doesn't sound like they cut out, conversation flows normally either side. As for Oompaville I feel like that's just his personality, it doesn't really come off as disingenuous but I'd never heard of him before he appeared on RT.
