Wendigoon Thread

Been on a podcast scavenger hunt looking for a very short, missable bit of audio in a podcast that has literal days worth of audio to slog through and this bite could have come from anywhere at anytime. This podcast is also extremely autistic and I can only take so much at a time. Point being, I'm taking a break from that shit and have been listening to Red Thread.

Oompa is genuinely the best part of it. Part of me thinks Wendi is either massively concealing his power level when it comes to spooky/cryptid/government shit on the podcast or he's massively exaggerating it elsewhere. Jackson could be raped by a drop bear tomorrow and I wouldn't even blink at the news; he's Australian Charlie. Fucking stupid and the human equivalent of paint drying.

Speaking of merch Papa Meat also revealed some new merch and I have to say I kind of like this one.

probably ain't paying 35$ though
He would also technically be an influencer, which just makes the shirt retarded, not ironic. Like the design though. Very Mid 00's Screamo. Atreyu vibes.
I wish I wasn't shopping for a light jacket right now because I might have to do the most cringe thing ever and order some youtuber merch lol
You dumb nigger. You overpaid for a fucking flannel.
I'm kinda irritated that Wendigoon is taking a basic ass design
This is the same dude who as soon as he had the chance to do merch, did gay ass plushy and funko-pops. He knows his audience and they'll buy any low effort shit he has. We already know one person who bought his shirt lel.

Aussie version of Popobawa when?

I can't blame a youtuber for doing the youtube hustle, I'd rather a youtuber shill shit of his own likeness than him pretend to play RAID SHADOW LEGENDS. It's both annoying but you gotta play the game to win the game.
I haven't bought it lol. I'm still looking for something like it though, sans embroidery
Your local Sneed and Feed should have your flannel Sneeds, Feeds, and Needs. Even if it's a little more spendy, you're helping a local business.
Do the Sneedful

What soundbite are you looking for?

Been watching Hunter's Papa Meat channel. Dude has grown on me more than I care to admit, and he fucking slays me. It's also funny to see just how much he reigns in the edge when he's with Goon.

Tldr: known degenerate Cory Spazkid once said, when referring to the kind of porn he'd use as reference for his own smut art, something to the effect of "and certain types of pussy you're not supposed to talk about". Which to me sounds very plainly like he's talking about CP based on my knowledge of how open this fella is about his degeneracy any other time, and past friendship with Shadman.

He could've just as well meant animal pussy.
Not that it's that much better.

Rewatching Penpal and it's blatantly obvious the author has never seen a Liveleak video before in his life. Human bodies are a lot stronger than people realize, and it takes a hell of a lot more force (intentionally or unintentionally) to cause the kind of things he describes. Those are jumping from a building, dead on the scene kind of injuries, not get hit by a car in a parking lot injuries.

Nah, Spaz is degenerate enough to not even hesitate if he was talking about beast shit.

Was rewatching Pen Pals too, and had the same thought. If the girl was that mangled after getting ran down, she'd have been dead when the author got to her. Or at the very least she'd never have made to the hospital. I mean he described her as basically being a human pretzel, that's how broken her body was. That means we've got crushed/ruptured internal organs at the very least.

I think it's just a YouTube problem, a lot of channels I watch have basically the exact same comment repeated ad nauseum, just tailored to the specific channel name

Just as an example, for channels where the channel is just someone's name, it'll be "Who [up/out here] [First name]ing they [last name].

Horribly unfunny but what do you expect from kids who weren't allowed to figure hang out with friends and learn to make actual jokes, very sad

That out of the way, I enjoyed the two stories

For the first I think I would have liked some actual monsters or whatever to show up and try and take the mom or torture the guy because he managed to stop Death but not the supernatural in general. Portray Death as a good and necessary thing, which it ultimately did, but do a little more with it before that

No major complaints on The Whistler, just a solid short story. Coulda used a little more spoop beyond just some ultimately impotent door and window banging but it worked for me

Is there another story about a whistler? I swear I've read one that was very different than this one but I can't remember what it was about at all

I think I know what you're talking about, I think I heard it on Dark Somnium's channel.
Maybe someone else can help me on this, but the Creepcast today reminded me of another story I listened to and it was about a manchild that was doted over by his mother, never let him go out, never had a job, just stayed home with his mother and eventually he became her caretaker, but kept doing it, even after she died. Sound familiar to anyone? I don't want to spoil it more than I just did (it wasn't that much of a spoiler, it was obvious from what was being set up from the beginning)

Second story was pretty good. I already listened to it, but I remember enjoying it even then as a fun simple story like the old creepypastas used to be. Don't really understand the comparison to Elias Witherow's stuff, though. If he had wrote this story, the parents would have been absolute buffoons and something terrible and graphic would have happened to all the kids cause they looked. I swear, every single story I listen from that guy has either one or both of those tropes in it and it's starting to worry me a little with how prevalent they are. He's a pretty good writer, but he desperately needs an editor to reign in a lot of his ideas.

First story is also good, but it just doesn't belong in nosleep. It's more a fantastical story with horror elements sprinkled in (kind of like My Job is Watching a Woman Trapped in a Room or the Thing in the Basement), and in a way kind of reminds me of those big Ghibli films and how they incorporate all sorts of mythology and history stuff but at the end of the day are really about life and society and nature or whatever. I think there is real potential going for that kind of approach. Besides that I have to agree the middle section, the actual siege itself, really should have been expanded. That's the real meat of the story I'd say. The part where the main character is brought to the brink to see just how far he was willing to go to keep his mother alive, and everything before and after is just the set-up and the payoff to that test.

Elias Witherow just seems like such a tryhard edgelord I can't take anything he writes seriously. It's just depression porn. He would have made either of these stories unreadable.

This might be one of my favorite of all creepypasta/no sleep stories I've ever read alongside Penpal.
One thing I enjoyed the most is the being does not seem unfair at all. "In my mind's eye" (I hate that phrase) I see it as an entity that only wants to take his nightly stroll and whistle his little tune unimpeded by prying eyes. It almost reminds me of SCP-096 that as long as you don't look at it, you're golden, but this story's being is much more interesting and better written.

"If you look at me you'll suffer my curse, but if you leave me to my nightly routine without being nosy you'll live a blessed and happy, long successful life in a beautiful neighborhood." Sounds like a good fucking deal to me, even if I didn't believe it I still wouldn't take the chance of looking. I don't even think it's unfair to the point of "If even only one of you look, you all will pay". Unless it knew where Holden lived and continued beating on his house every single night, making the rest of his family listen to it as well, and as horrible as it sounds and I don't think any parent would do it, if they just kicked him out for The Whistler then it'd leave the rest of them alone. I really enjoy when the monster in a story is actually reasonable.
It didn't even require a sacrifice for their million little blessings. It's just "leave me alone and I'll reward you"

I was half expecting that if children heard the whistling, it would put them under a trance to make them open the window or even leave the house to follow it, like a Pied Piper kind of thing, but I'm really glad it didn't go that route.

ETA: I forgot to mention but I'm a sucker for those skinwalker/wendigo stories where they try to mimic voices, so that point was just gravy for me. Some people don't like them and say it's tacky but that just makes it scarier, makes it seem like the creature/being is intelligent.
FUCK ETA again: I actually wouldn't mind a follow up to this story, not that I want to know more about the entity or what it looks like, I just really want to hear the conversation between the main characters parents and Holden's parents when MC's parents take him home the next day.

Hunter's reading voice is getting a little better, though sometimes in the Maria on the Moon it was kinda grating. Especially his yelling.

First story should’ve been two different stories. It could work great as a horror story, but not because of any monsters he might’ve summoned. In my opinion, the far scarier horror would be the consequence of denying someone of death. Most of my favorite SCPs are nightmare scenarios of what “immortality” actually entails, and a cautionary tale for why death is a necessary part of life. I genuinely thought this was the direction the story was gonna go, but it barely even touched on the horror aspect. Because even the mother said she was ready to die but the son didn’t want her to, it set the perfect stage for a horror short where the son only makes things worse because he’s not really acting in his mother’s best interest, but his own.

The second half should’ve just been a stand-alone bittersweet story about grief and acceptance. But regardless the writing was still very good.

Now the second story… that was incredible. Finally some good fucking horror, finally an author who writes realistic characters and knows how to show restraint. We didn’t need to know what the whistler looked like, we didn’t need to know what happened to Holden (and it was fun to speculate if his parents looked as well so he wouldn’t be alone.)
Plus the ‘diversity’ wasn’t just to score lefty brownie points, it actually made sense for the dad to be Caribbean (the fact he already had these sort of beliefs ingrained in him thanks to the culture he grew up in, and also the mom being upset at the neighbors because she assumed they’re racist and just trying to find a way to get them to leave the neighborhood.) I’d love to see more of this author.

Same, I swear I listened to some creepypasta reading channel do a story with a very similar concept of whistling at night, but it was definitely not this story.

First story was meh. Loss, grief, and the importance of being able to accept things, let go and move on. Not much more than that. The minor spooks and supernatural shit was just window dressing to keep the story from being a more obvious therapy session. Like you'd think a guy who's prolonging his mother's life through unnatural means, to the point Death Itself says "cmon dude", only suffers a few spooks? Pretty light work for playing God.

Whistler was cool. Not much else to say other than Wendi's on the spot theories suck cock.

Does anyone here use YouTube Premium, or has some way to track what they watch on YouTube and for how long?

I got my YouTube Wrapped the other day and apparently I've spent approximately 6,000 minutes or 100 hours listening to Creepcast 🫣 1000016374.jpg

About 2000 minutes for me. I'm surprised it isn't more. When I get home I'm gonna add up the play time of every episode to see roughly how many times I went through my playlist. It's what I usually throw on at work if I don't have anything specific I want to listen to.

I added up a handful of episodes and it was already at 500 minutes so I feel like it couldn't have tracked it all

Didn't know youtube did this. I know Spotify does, and it once claimed I was top 1% of listeners to Gojira which is an absurd amount of hours played. Made me take a break and listen to new shit tbh :story:
