Wendigoon Thread

Metal Gear Solid
I really can't imagine Goon covering MGS. Or Metal Gear in general.

Or at least, if he did, I can't imagine he'd do it in a satisfactory way. There's a million and one deep dives into Metal Gear from a meta and lore perspective, and countless shit post explanations like Maxor or Internet Historian.

Then again, he did do that shitty Lovecraft vid.

Maybe start your own channel? Alas, I'm starting to fear Wendigoon also caught a terminal case of the libsh!t brain disease 😢
I got that autistic monotone voice, so I doubt I would be a good host for a channel like that. If I was going to do something online, I was thinking of buying a rundown Japanese or Taiwanese home, do a vlog or livesteam of me fixing it up and try to flip it or rent it out afterwards.

Or maybe it's the person he's working with? Is that cope? It kinda sounds like cope.
It is definitely the new crew, but Wendi isn't the type of guy who would not challenge other people or pick up on how retarded he sounds in these videos.

The stigma against Modern Warfare was strong a decade ago, and sadly I believed it and took the series as dumb mindless shooter without any real merit in it.
CoDs an interesting case because the series became the baseline for modern FPSs and as a result is seen as rather dull or genertic. But man sometimes they have some gold in those campaigns. The only modern Warfare game I played was 2 and it is one of my favorite FPS campaigns ever.

he'd been into Metal Gear Solid instead.
I'm more amazed he isn't given how it seems right up his alley, but I never heard him talk about it or mention it at all. Then again, wendi is a turbo normie when it comes to games.

That's a good word, I'll save that word for later.

Written by the guy who did It Bleeds, it’s about my genuine mortal fear which is caves, I think we’re cooking today.

He is friendly with a lot of guntuber people so he can't be that left wing. Maybe it's just something that makes him uncomfortable to talk about? Am I coping again?
What I mean is all because somebody manages not to shout “trans women are women” or talk about the progressive stack doesn’t make them right wing. As others have stated before in this thread, I’ve never heard I’ve never gotten the feeling that he is very conservative other than he likes guns.

Edit: and liking guns is only a “right wing” position recently, same with being a Christian

Thoughts on today's pasta:

1) I'm usually the first to defend authors who want to use bigger words, but this dude really did straight up have a thesaurus in front of him as he wrote. Some of the terms he chose were ridiculous.

2) “Not a place of honor” and, Hell, most of the more impactful lines of this one are taken whole cloth from the 1993 report from Sandia National Laboratories on nuclear waste symbology.

This place is a message... and part of a system of messages... pay attention to it!

Sending this message was important to us. We considered ourselves to be a powerful culture.

This place is not a place of honor... no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here... nothing valued is here.

What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger.

The danger is in a particular location... it increases towards a center... the center of danger is here... of a particular size and shape, and below us.

The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours.

The danger is to the body, and it can kill.

The form of the danger is an emanation of energy.

The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

this isn't even close to the worst thing about this story. the guy must have just recently discovered alliteration because it feels like he can't go a single paragraph without using it multiple times. it's really distracting

Him covering something he doesn't have real interest in would just be another Cryptid clusterfuck.

I really enjoyed that one. Pretty obvious allegory for the allure and horror of nuclear science by the end. I wish he hadn't specified what the tincture had been, and that he'd had an unopened letter rather than a phone, no covid, but very minor complaints overall. I just would have preferred it to be more timeless, and in the case of the tincture specifically it could have been those radium tinctures

Just because I want to humblebrag about knowing it, they did misunderstand one word, that being c'thonic. Nothing to do with C'thulu, instead it's referring to the greco-roman underworld/Hades which is a fun word choice for someone crawling into the earth

Did anyone have any thoughts on 'Mother Night'? My assumption was an extinction event brought on by nuclear winter followed by the birth of whatever the next era of life would be given the context of the rest of the story

Also, nothing related to Creepcast/Wendigoon but on the same subject as this story, Kyle Hill released a video the other day that I thought was super spoopy and fun. Basically it was the Russian version of the Demon Core where, instead of immediately uncapping it to stop the open air criticality event the scientist instead ran away, leaving the plutonium to cook away. Super interesting, and the video had a very creepypasta slightly cheesy (and genuinely spoopy, assuming it's a true story) ending I think some people might appreciate. Only like 15 minutes long and worth the watch if you're interested in atomics at all

Wendigoon is like 23-24, right?

He basically came up at a time where Metal Gear Solid was at a low point (in the zeitgeist of gaming, I mean). He was probably 8-9 years old when MGS4 came out and that game is, IMO, the high point of the series as far as mainstream breakage goes. And even then you had GTA IV and Modern Warfare pretty much eclipsing it.

It's not *impossible* he could have gotten into it. I got into MGS at 9 years old, but I just feel like it was easier to get into MGS in 1998 as a relative "normie" than it was from 2008-2015. The only "new" MGS fans I meet from after MGS2/MGS3 came out are all turbo weebs tbqh.

Kyle Hill covers some good topics, but when I found out he was polyamorous then everything I didn't care for about his onscreen demeanor just clicked into place.
Yeah, he's a bit obnoxious but the content itself is good

For whatever reason I'm remembering the time he got trolled into reading someone's recounting of ending up with horrible radiation burns and requiring skin grafts. The story included pictures, and it was just pictures from some F2M's phalloplasty lol, where they grow the fake dong on the forearm before transplanting it

This story was rad, I'm a whore for weird symbolic body horror madness and this nigga sat down and wrote a story comprised of some of the hardest lines I've heard from this show.
I enjoy a quick snack from time to time, short and tight and doesn't fuck around.
I can't lie, this one fucking GOT me, especially with the bit about the eye. I like how it immediately throws you into things and it kept things short and sweet instead of several unnecessary "long story short" paragraphs and twists.
The way it keeps referencing long term nuclear warnings is pretty clever, too.
