One clip I saw was of Wendi discussing prementions that they had during highschool and one of them was that women care for what car you have. Which Wendi said they absolutely do not care.

I think people are just not used to online people being open about their faith that when someone is people assume they're deeply religious. He probably is just a regular old christian who goes to church but isn't super devout.

The Twilight Zone was able to do the concept back in the 60s with little girl lost where a girl who phased though the wall in her bedroom and ended up in a different dimension, so you can do it without the context of video games. Honestly Kane handled the concept pretty well. He could have went with the backroom wikis that literally read like terrible video game walkthoughs.

Narnia is another example, but both are the more primal concept of venturing into mysterious/forbidden locations. The Backrooms though is 100% gaming related "fall into the skybox because you walked into an edge too fast".

I disagree, normal people don't have youtube careers, at most one big video and then fall off into obscurity. You need to either be autistic enough to rant about a niche topic with an audience as a career choice, or a narcissist who loves to hear his own voice.

I don't understand the connection between not liking AI art and not being Christian. If you're deeply religious than I could see a reason for rejecting AI art completely(not that I reject it. I just understand the perspective that would and see how it could be from a religious perspective).
If your argument is that he's clearly taking the reddit view of Ai art then I guess I can see where you're coming from.

There is a fine line between a guy that makes youtube videos and Youtubers. It isn't really the size of the channel that makes the difference between the two, but rather how deep are they in the youtube ecosystem. If you keep to yourself and just do your thing then you are just a guy that makes videos even if you have a sizeable channel. But if you are big into the youtube grind of minmaxing video output to viewer retention across several channels, carefully maintaining your online persona, networking with other youtubers, and forming your own little clique of creators then you are no longer just a normal dude, but an eceleb in their own retarded version of Hollywood (or real Hollywood in Kane's case).

No, it's all retarded. Modern AI is simple mathematical optimization, if you find that heretical then Blender is just as bad with practically everything being a mathematical formula doing optimization on the models to structure and animate them.

As a fellow mediafag, I'm happy for Kane. I don't expect the movie if it is a feature to be great but the premise of the backrooms isn't strong enough for a feature and filmmaking always comes with growing pains. Kane definitely has something over almost everyone else in the analog community and that is that he knows his themes. Ironically, I think only Spook is on the same level of being aware enough of what they can do and how to do it.

If you think of the backrooms as a contemporary equivalent to thin places, it is a concept that is beyond vidya logic. It just has that vague late 20th century vibe because we choose to give it that quality and most people don't have that concept of liminality within nature nowadays.

After a month, The Mandela Catalogue Vol. 6 has 421k views. No doubt Wendi signal boosting it helped it. Never allow Alex Kister to forget he couldn't sell the concept as a movie despite how popular it is on paper. I feel tempted to make a post explaining why Wendi whiteknighting Kister is so hypocritical based on how some creators "are not beyond redemption" but that would mean I've to re-watch the MC again.

On Wendifatigue, I think it is warranted because if we are being strict he has been releasing a lot more duds than hits for about two years. Oh shit good point. He probably wasn't paid in cash which is why he didn't do a big formal disclaimer. But I think you still need to do it if you got paid in access because he was on set and got exclusive interviews and information for his video which would be very valuable for Wendi. I think he legit might be in violation of some policies or laws on that.

Edit: When he went to visit the set, did he pay for the whole trip or did the studio pay for part of it? That would be a clear violation right there.
