Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

It goes well until Book 3. There Bryke get a significantly bigger place in production and it shows.

I also watched The Owl House episode 6. I liked it, but things that irritate me are still there (Luz' personality and for my lack of better word, cringy hadling of show's "individualism vs conformity" theme. Conformatrium, really?). Other than that it's an OK cartoon. Animation is really good. Gus and Willow are far more likeable kids than Luz.
It's weird that they have magical instagram, but for most part react to humans technology with genuine suprise.

I liked Infinity Train a lot, lot more.

Infinity Train is such a welcome change of pace from previous cartoons. No obnoxious trend chasing artstyle, no teasing overarching plot or lore that gets half assed, no obnoxious preaching, no shipping and romance, just focuses on telling a story. I’d love to see more cartoons end up like this.

This kind of horror/thriller stories is not even my genre and I like both season a lot.
When it comes to shipping, there was teasing between MT and Jesse in second season, but it was left ambigous - you can interpret that it's a beggining of a crush or just friendship.
Animation was a bit choppy sometimes when compared to The Owl House and some others and it's a pity.

As for Glitch Techs, I don't have plans to watch it because it is a show made with video game fans in mind and I problably not going to undanstand most of references etc.

I would say 2nd half of 2019 and 2020 have quite a lot of good cartoons compared to a few years before. Some worse too (she-Ra... and all reboots other than Ducktales), but also a bit more action packed and serious shows.

It helps that, whether you look at it from a romantic or platonic angle, it’s one of the healthiest male/female relationships in modern animation.
Being a Disney show, Owl House definitely has a leg up in animation, just wish it wouldn’t be so on the nose with it’s themes. Not even Persona 5 was this blatant about conformity and rebellion.
All in all, I agree we’re going places with animation in the 20s.

although i don't care for romance, has there been instance where romance didn't flat out ruined the plot of a cartoon cuz im drawing blink.

Out of all the Droopy cartoons they should've restored, I would've preferred Out-Foxed or Northwest Hounded Police.

Maybe wait for Volume 2? The fact that this is Volume 1 can only mean that more is coming.

(I want "Dixieland Droopy" myself. And definitely "King-Size Canary" and "Magical Maestro." And the one Screwy Squirrel cartoon missing, "Happy-Go-Nutty." Then you'd be able to recreate Cartoon Network on April 1, 1997 in your own home...)

So, Charlyne Yi, the voice of Ruby in Steven Universe and Chloe in We Bare Bears, is accusing Pat McHale and Justin Rubenstein, of Over the Garden Wall fame, of psychological abuse.
I knew she was trouble!!

Isn't Yi like a massive attention whore or something? I get really fishy vibes from this.

It's a dream come true!

Love these clips!

Barring budget differences, episode length, etc etc. I've been trying to pinpoint why we cant do animation this fluid anymore, or humor nearly as well timed as Tex Avery. We have all these formulas, books, computer programs, animation schools (that cost $50k to attend!), and yet the best that we often put out on TV is little more than animated KCGreen comics.

Blame executives and bean counters, they're the ones behind limiting this fun.
