Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

It really shows, that Steven Universe was a one trick poney for her. The fact that she's doing this for attention, really shows.

Also

Way are these SJWs hating on Ren and Stimpy reboot it's not like the Pedo creator is involved in the reboot.

Also not like everyone behide the original Ren and Stimpy are pedos, it was just the creator.

Honestly I think their jesouly because Ren and Stimpy don't have to pander to SJWs to have a large fanbase.

He's not getting any money... but the other people, who aren't pedos, weren't called in to do the show. Obviously dreamed up by an executive who's ignorant of what the show meant.

And apparently how tarnished the brand is.

Hell, I have more respect for Jinx Monsoon's role as Emerald than I do for whoever the fuck did Shep and Jinx only got the role because they begged for a role on Twitter. BEGGING. FOR. A ROLE!
There’s also the fact Monsoon actually put effort into their performance despite Emerald also being a one shot character. Shep’s VA was so wooden and amateurish, I pondered why they were hired at all.

As for the reboot...
Ok, but still way are these SJWs pissed off about it
Your guess is as good as mine. Even when they present their reasoning, it all comes off as two faced and hypocritical. The best I can discern is that it’s a grudge against John K that’s being misaimed at innocent bystanders mixed with tribalism; the wrong show is being rebooted by the wrong people.
Take note, it’s not just R&S; they started going after the Beavis and Butt-head revival too and Mike Judge didn’t do anything.
And apparently how tarnished the brand is.
From my experience, the only way a brand is truly tarnished is when it stops making companies money. At the very least, that’s how it worked with the X-Men film series and Rurouni Kenshin.

When's the last time R&S made any money for anyone at all? APC was an absolute fucking disaster.

I think they’re banking solely on nostalgia bucks for this one...then again you can say that about most reboots.
For what it’s worth, old school Nick merch still makes bank and there’s still dedicated fans of older Nick shows very much active and loud on social media. Combined with previous Nick revivals being very warmly received, a R&S reboot makes slightly more sense from a business standpoint.

They were also crying when the new season of Beavis & Butthead was announced. I think they're just mad some old white man's cartoon is more valuable than the diverse vomit they've cooked up.

Did you want to see Beavis and Butthead grown up? I doubt so.

But those revivals had the creators back. This one won't by design, but no one else from the original is involved either.

That’s kind of a bad faith argument; unlike APC, the last revival actually managed to hold up, meaning good things for this new revival. More importantly, Mike Judge is in charge of both revivals, basically assuring everyone this something he wants to happen. Speaking of which...

To us that’s a very important distinction and indeed it puts them a head above other reboots artistically.
But to an executive, there’s no difference whether the creator comes back or not (unless there’s a legality to it), so long as the nostalgia bucks come in.

It was true not a few years ago. Things have changed, like I said, and the networks are slightly more open about these things... though not that open, of course.

NOBODY from the old show is coming back?! I know Chris Reccardi can't because he's gone but even Comedy Central got most of the Futurama crew to work on their last season. This really is going to be something.

Creators can sometimes come back to work on their production as long as they're willing to negotiate and play ball. Other times the execs will say "Fine go we don't need you!" just so they could keep their pride and more money. However judging by Star Wars and Powerpuff Girls (Z, Dance Pansed, PPG2016), that's not always the smartest choice.

The only times I've heard it still worked when the creator leaves is Clarence, MLP:Fim and Loud house. Loud house especially since they're still going and getting a movie (yet somehow can't outshine the sponge).

I remember I was watching TV a few years ago, and this kids toy ad came on, I almost had a heart attack. Because the animations weren't 3D models or flash, it was all hand drawn by a small company in the US. I couldn't believe it.

It's a little different when they just completely dump everyone who had anything at all to do with the original. Even the horrible PPG reboot still had Tom Kenny, for some reason.

The PPG reboot is hilarious because it brought back most if not all the male voice actors came back while 99% of the female voice actors were replaced with younger talent.

The hilarious part comes in when you realize the reboot was advertised with a girl power theme.

If there's one thing the reboot did that I approve of is snubbing Tara Strong of a potential rehire and her bitching about it on Twitter.

Forgot Sugar drew CP almost

This is some SJW shit. Trying to act all offended at slash drawings of Eddy and Double D or Sourpuss blowing Gandy Goose... Lots of animators have done shit like this. Ever heard of C. Martin Croker's "Forbidden File"?

There's a lot of people who don't want to go back or are otherwise occupied, but Bob Camp, who's been trying to get a revival made for years, wasn't told about it.

In those cases you still had the creative team, though, and they know what they were doing.

The thing about Sugar's EE&E smut is that she drew it when she was around 17 or 18, well before she was employed at CN. The key difference is that Sugar supposedly regrets drawing that and hasn't drawn any more since than.

And you do have a point about animators doing this in the past, while I've never heard of C. Martin Croker's "Forbidden File" I have heard other tales, the most notable ones being the Rugrats Storyboard Jams and the "official" Disney smut The Mouse keeps locked away in the Disney Vault. It's also worth noting that Amber Cragg drew a couple of pieces of softcore SU smut (one involving Pearl and another involving Amethyst) before being hired on as a boarder.
