Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Source? Cuz if true, wew lad. You'd have to be an especially limp-dicked faggot in order to be that fucking petty. But, then again, they are SJWs.

i can post something you won't find anywhere else tho, an early version of a scene from hindenburg cola s1, but with a few changes. you'll notice the scene in the official release is a little different and it shouldn't be hard to figure out why they changed it

Sorry, man. I'm gonna need more context for that, mainly because I haven't seen the new Animaniacs.

Also HOLY SHIT WE GOT SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY WORKED ON THE NEW ANIMANIACS. Any more insight you can give (without giving yourself away of course)?

Sad news today regarding VA Tom Kane:

Star Wars voice actor Tom Kane has suffered a stroke, his family has revealed. Kane is best known for voicing Master Yoda, Admiral Yularen, and the narrator in Star Wars animated series The Clone Wars; he was also the voice of Woodhouse in Archer, Professor Utonium in The Powerpuff Girls. That's not to mention the number of other big franchises and both animation and gaming that Kane influenced with his voice acting - the list is truly staggering. Sadly, at this time, Kane is still suffering damage from the stroke that prevents him from efficiently verbally communicating, and though recovery is possible, his doctors warn "that he may not do Voiceovers again."

Here's is the statement posted by Tom Kane's family:

Hi everyone! This is Tom’s daughter, Sam. Our family wanted to share why my dad has been MIA. About two months ago he had a left side stroke that gave him right sided weakness and damage to the speech center of his brain. This means right now he cannot efficiently communicate verbally, nor read or spell. He is still competent and very much himself, but can only get out a few words right now. As many of you might know about strokes, it is possible for him to gain these functions back and we have found him excellent care in Kansas City for speech, occupational, and physical therapy, but for now, we have been warned by his Neurologist that he may not do Voiceovers again.

As (briefly) explained above, Tom Kane truly is one of those voices many fans may not even know the value so much, until hearing of this tragic incident. One look into his filmography reveals hit games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Call of Duty: WaW and Black Ops I - III; he was even Magneto and Ultron in multiple Marvel gaming and animation projects. His retro '50s serial voice made Powerpuff Girls' Professor feel like every ideal dad of that era, and his Clone Wars announcer gave that sci-fi show its odd wartime serial feel. He also got to voice the live-action version of Admiral Ackbar in Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi.

Off-screen, Kane's work landed him the honor of becoming the new voice of Walt Disney World's Monorail System, and he also took over as the voice of the announcer for The Eric Andre Show.

That's all to say: Tom Kane has a massive fanbase that's now joining with his family, colleagues, and friends, in hoping he makes a full recovery.

God just let this year end already...

(Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.)

You really have no idea how fucking lib the animators at titmouse are. on the scene where the president wax dummies are falling over each other like dominos all of the presidents were animated on different layers and had appropriate titling, except trump's rough animation layer was just called "bone spurs". what an useless fucking thing to give a shit about
Seriously getting assmad about a throwaway joke in the name of an animation layer?

not really, if anything it was a little bizarre in a sad way. you want to privately stick it to the orange man in a place very little people will ever see and you do it by making fun of the most nothingburger thing imaginable? was the joke for yourself or did you mean to send it to the international monkey team on purpose?

might have been an overreaction though, I've gotten weary of lib signalling and the absurdity of still trying to pretend Hillary wasn't the biggest loser the dems could've chosen feels bleak, but at least we got to laugh about it back when we received the segment.

His work as Utonium is so iconic to me. I hope things get better for him.

So it appears that, according to Billy West, the R&S reboot’s still happening despite the craziness from a few months ago courtesy of Robin Byrd and the animation community on Twitter and that it was only postponed due to COVID fucking things up.

I heard about this via Twitter and /co/ the day of, that just fucking depressing and a nice last kick to the gut from 2020.

That said, if he heals nicely from this and returns to doing voiceovers I don‘t expect him to ever return to that same level of gravitas he had prior. The same happened to Tim Curry and his more recent roles like Over The Garden Wall’s Madame Whispers are vastly different ones he did before.

I didn't even realize it was Tim in OTGW when I watched it for the first time this year. Maybe Tom could make it work? He's a talented guy.

The pandemic was going on long before the reboot was announced, mind you. The industry's long adapted to working from home, so I don't know how the heck that would be the case. He never announced that he was ever going to be in it... they don't tell you a production's been canceled unless you're involved.

This isn't actually confirmation that the reboot's still happening, and anyone who says it is is spreading bullshit.

EDIT: If you have HBO Max, they just added Courage the Cowardly Dog, Billy and Mandy, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Kids Next Door and Batman: TAS.

I almost assume it's going to happen because it's so absolutely fucked up and wrong that I don't see how it couldn't happen in the current year that never ended.

Even though it's January 1, I want to give a brief shoutout to my favorite animated Christmas film, Annabelle's Wish, which I have mentioned here briefly and was my Christmas avatar for 2019. It was a 1997 direct-to-video film that was also shown very often on TV. It was produced by Ralph Edwards Productions and distributed by Hallmark when they used to actually do pretty good stuff and had better originals.
The movie carries themes about sacrifice, selflessness, loyalty, friendship, childhood trauma, death, how fucked the custody system is...yep you heard that right. The ending never fails to make me at least tear up.

I also find it unique because the main animal character is a cow. Not a dog, cat, or even a horse: it's a dairy calf.

It has been mostly forgotten now but from what I've seen it was well-received and popular enough back in the day to get a Little Golden Book adaptation, a Hallmark ornament (which I own), reindeer hats, and giftbags that were sold at Hallmark.

I know was going to mention that, with the looney tunes, tom and jerry, and now those shows hbo max almost makes the old cartoon netwrok live again, before it all went to...well you know. So those shows plus classic powerpuff girls and dexter's lab....does that make all the original cartoon cartoons? the only ones missing i can think of are the obsucre short lived stuff like robot jones, mike lou and og, cow and chicken/baboon and weasel, time squad sheep in the big city and then the shows made in the 2000's until 2010 Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, Camp Lazlo, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, and Class of 3000.

They don't have Johnny Bravo, either, but I think we ought to have that. And Cow and Chicken. And for that matter, Evil Con Carne and I Am Weasel. Maybe soon...

I should warn you - they don't have everything. Ed, Edd n Eddy has the whole series, but not the holiday specials or the movie, Big Picture Show. Billy and Mandy doesn't have the Christmas special or Big Boogey Adventure, and the crossover with Kids Next Door isn't on either show's page.

(And they don't have the PPG episode "See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey" either.)

I think they plan on releasing the specials as their own thing uploaded separately from the main shows. Like how foster's home destination imagination has its own page. hopefully the holiday episodes wont take until the actual holidays this year to be uploaded. can't imagine why they cut the episode see me fell me gnomey it is a banned episode after all. they probably don't want to release Johnny bravo because "me too era" and all that. It wouldn't surprise me if warner releases a statement saying that show wont be on hbo max "because it would be insentive to current culture regarding sexual harassment."

They put it out on DVD, it was on Netflix back when they had it... it's inexplicable.

Dexter's Lab doesn't have the banned Dial M for Monkey episode, either, but that's kind of the way things have always been. If Cow and Chicken comes on I expect to see "Orthodontic Police" instead of "Buffalo Gals."
