Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

So a while back I watched some animations made by the National Film Board of Canada, and the 2 that I enjoyed the most are The Sweater:

And The Big Snit:

I've watched each one multiple times in the weeks since. The Sweater stood out to me due to a combination of its animation, music, and voice acting. It's just an overall aesthetically pleasing animation to watch.

Going into The Big Snit I knew about the ending, but holy crap did it hit hard regardless. Beautiful piece of animation.

If there is anyone here who hasn't seen these, I highly recommend watching them.
The NFB has some great gems to discover. Reminded of this one!

That opening is pretty prophetic!

I’m starting to wonder if the creators in general just dislike Finn now or something. The one before this is about Bubblegum and Marceline being together and all, and Finn’s episode is about
him being dead and reincarnating.

Not exactly the close to Finn’s story I was hoping for.
Finns a straight white male

The fuck is up with gaijin animation going full cal-arts. Watching the opening for the 90s Batman TAS just depresses me knowing that detail will never return. Although i will say having watched a cartoon like Flapjack back when it was on was a pretty neat experience guess its due to my joy of weird shit like Billy and Mandy.
Invincible gives some hope that maybe that kind of style will be able to stick around at least in a niche. The show has been successful enough to imply to investors it's worth to keep around. But the major thing is, in the west, studios simply do not want to pay top dollar for animation 99% of the time. So if someone wants to produce a cartoon, they'll sell out as fast as possible to get a chance to tell whatever story it is they want to tell no matter how shit the visuals are.

Well one thing's for certain....
David Bradley voicing Older Finn is fucking awesome

It managed to actually have a decent plot with it's... eh animation style. Steven universe had a social justice disasterpiece and convoluted nonsense all the time, and they couldn't even stay on model animation wise.
Nah man, SU is stupidly simple narratively speaking. It's just an allegory for an abusive family. If you want convoluted there are other cartoons that fit that bill.

I don't mean convoluted as in complex, but so irrevocably stupid that it is mind boggling how it got greenlit.
Gotcha, was wondering what you meant lol.

In other news, the S2 finale for Amphibia is now officially available. It's big spoilers so catch it ASAP if you're into the show

By the way, this official version has a little post-credits content probably for all of those that already watched the leak. It's the season 3 intro.
Not a big fan of where are they taking the series to be honest. It feels like too late to keep introducing characters when season 2 did the same and didn't use them that much in the end, also the humans designs of this show aren't that good and that's why I thought that was the reason they spent all the time in another world so they didn't have to show so much of them. Also they are doubling down on Anne going SSB which was pretty much not only the cringiest part of the s2 finale but the show overall that I don't know what to think.

I dunno, the premise seems intriguing enough. If S3 is the last one though things may end up rushed, but then again most modern cartoons value emotional storytelling over logical pacing most of the time.

]well season 3 I find will clearly be how season one was with Anne, with the planters now on earth and stuff. But honestly it's going to be kind of hard to do wackey episodes in the human world with how they ended things. We will probably get episodes with Sahsa and Grime leading a resistance against the king. I do understand why the creators were upset with Disney with the whole Marcy getting stab thing. As the season 3 promo shows her alive granted in a life tube and looks like a coma. I wonder if the King plans to brainwash her or something. I do find the King as a intresting villain and it's clear he is more dangerous than Grime and Sahsa ever were.
Edit: I really am curious with the whole Anne super form thing
