Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

The movie felt generic story wise, but was visually stunning. Makes sense, they reused the expensive as FUCK animation engine they debuted earlier this year.
At least we can make films this good at all I find. Imaging how long that must've taken.

Someone on FB already stated Moana's the most 90's Disney Princess imaginable the way this plot is, still Maui doesn't seem like a bad sidekick as usual. He at least seems to hold his own weight (so to speak, though I haven't seen the film yet).

I enjoyed the film a lot. Dunno about the 90's thing, but most of the characters were pretty entertaining.

Probably just some early viewer who wanted to downplay whatever ambitions the studio had with this one by saying that.

The music sounds nice and the polynesian setting gives it a flavor of its own, so maybe it'll be nice. I had a sorta "Genie from Aladdin" dejavu while watching the video, though.

I can see a similar vibe in the song, but I can say the two characters are very different. The Rock does an awesome job with the character.

Whenever the stigma of animation being for kids comes up, I often think to this!

Given the recent talk over a certain character in a Sonic Boom episode, this one-shot from Adult Swim came back to my mind! I wish this had been a show!

I wonder what this short would be like if they tried to do it with today's modern animation fans?
I have a feeling a lot of fans will respond by yelling "That's not true!" and threaten the people who worked on it.

It'll definitely be a far cry from 1995, back when fans were able to praise such satire. Then again, people actually had spines back then.

Wish they still did, here was none of that assholery to be seen back before the WWW became a thing.

Endless amount of salt, "literally shaking", and how it's "racsexphobic" or something.

Saw Sausage Party.
Quite fun! Yeah, it's not THAT good, but it's still very nice. Lots of jokes that hold up fine, and cute characters. Plus, it's a nice thing to have a WELL-animated R-rated animated movie.

Saw the Ballerina CGI animated movie.
It's obvious the creators saw a lot of modern American animated movies. It's very decent, kinda clichéd at times, but it's fine.

For something related to the holidays, here's a rather nifty animated piece from the 80's, Christmas Every Day...

The same group also did another special a couple years later based on Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost.

Probably one of the most forgotten Christmas specials to date.
