Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Studio Killers is an electronic music group right? So are they trying to do what Major Lazer did and create a spin off show? The Major Lazer animation is actually decent unlike this pilot.
No idea. They've been remixing and re-releasing a bunch of covers of their most well-known song and then suddenly put up a Kickstarter for this. Apparently one of the tiers was for exclusively released songs that only backers would get, but apart from that their songs that are actually new are just what they put in this. Idk who they got to animate it but I imagine it's so choppy because it was cheaper to commission artists per frame for a bunch of short segments vs. decent looking longer stretches of animation and more frames.

There is a line where a show goes from being fun with a bit of drama for kids to being a drama with little fun for adults and you can see that when going through just the first few seasons of Adventure Time.

The show went from fighting a giant ice cream robot with weird business dudes in it to going and the main character's comical fear of the water to going to a village of depressed worms and dealing with toxic relationships.

Like you can do serious stuff in kids' cartoons, I remember Courage being able to handle this pretty decently with my favorite example being "Remembrance of Courage Past." Now even if it did slip up sometimes, like with the domestic abuse episode was retrospectively was a little too much but there was still fun in the show, Adventure Time lost its fun and that's the real problem with modern-day cartoons.

I hope you guys were thinking the same thing as me when you saw the title. The show doesn't resemble the comic strip much from the videos I've been seeing unfortunately.

I was at the barbershop getting a haircut and they just so happened to have Space Jam: A New Legacy on. LeChina jokes aside, that movie was so bad to watch that at one point, it almost made me accidentally ask the barber to do this:

Thankfully, my hair is still intact, even if slightly receding.

I've only seen the 2D animated bits from New Legacy. Which I will say is one of the good aspects of the movie. This is coming from someone who never bothered with both LT movies before this came out.

Weren’t people on Twitter gushing about how one the characters is a lesbian or some shit like that?
Welp, was already gonna avoid this like the plague but now I see even more of an incentive to. Thanks.

I don’t have a Twitter, but I happened to lurk on the search results page to notice that Phineas and Ferb was trending

Initially, I did not know why, but now it’s because of this:

C210771F-8001-46E5-960E-A61485E07E71.jpeg245FF867-C1E8-4EF7-92A9-4F2D207F7D17.jpeg694DBABA-B574-40BE-83BD-C32AD1E9FE1B.jpeg

There were people arguing over why Phineas and Ferb should be “gotten rid of“ over popular Western cartoons from the 2010’s, while Platypus Day was today for Perry, and there was a subsection of people wondering what Candace would do if she finally managed to catch her brothers in the act once.

In other words, it’s just Twitter being Twitter in current day, where as can’t differentiate between that site and Tumblr.

Hard choice between deleting Adventure Time (Started off really fucking good but was the jumping off point for (and eventually became the epitome of what's wrong with) modern cartoons) and Gravity Falls (Didn't watch. Fanbase was cringe)
I'm more leaning on Gravity Falls because it was created by Alex Hirsch but man do I not like what the later seasons of Adventure Time did and it help lead to things like Steven Universe existing.

Trailer for DC's Super-Pets dropped:

Keanu Reeves plays Batman which fits well and there's the original Danny Elfman theme in the background. As for the rest? Looks like Secret Life of Pets but with superheroes. Meh.

Somehow this caused Pixar/disney fans to lose their collective mind on twitter
Whenever I look at the characters in Turning Red I feel the same discomfort towards the art style I felt when watching the Wild Thornberries or Aardman cartoons. Very ugly humans.

Adventure Time did start off as good but then gradually transformed into a soyboy SJW show. Yes, I agree, the later seasons did embody everything wrong with modern cartoons which unfortunately led to the creation of Steven Universe. I cringed at a lot of neckbeards and soyboys on reddit that were crying over the half assed series finale of Adventure Time. They attacked me after I made a valid critism of the poorly executed finale too, instead of respecting my opinion and calmly disagreeing like adults. I also didn't bother watching Distant Lands because of the fan service, like Bonnie and Marceline become a lesbian couple. I'm not homophobic, I just hate how the CalArts shows keep shoving the agenda down people's throats and they're not doing a good job making it subtle.
