Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Reminded of one guy I knew on Facebook who would NEVER SHUT UP about the Disney version of the character like it was the only thing he ever saw at a tender age. We had to ban him, thank God. I'm only sad Franquin didn't live long enough to enjoy his win from the lawsuit.
This guy already sounds like a cow in the making, I've only seen a bits of the Disney version of the character from someone who streamed some of the shorts. It just felt like Disney was trying to make the character their own Bugs Bunny or Yakko Warner without any charm whatsoever. Aside from not having anything like the comics being a bit more assault to the french readers. Franquin may have died, except he made other french characters dodge the bullets from suffering the same fate. Marsup did end up getting a video game recently that plays similar to Donkey Kong Country which works.

Speaking of, another Simpson staffer has passed away.

Damn. He wrote one of my favorite episodes too. I didn't realize he died.

As someone that occasionally watched Teen Titans and Ben 10 Omniverse, I do want to say ”Thank you” for making my 2000’s and early 2010’s more fun to watch things that were not Steven Universe related.

Hopefully his family can find peace at this time.
To add an extra layer of tragedy to this, in addition to being the day after Christmas, today is the 14th anniversary of Transformers Animated. The 2020s really are getting rougher and rougher…

Youtube has both the Disney shorts and a few episodes of the newer cartoons. Shocking since jewtube likes to jewtube.
Probably helps that Disney doesn't give a rat's ass about the property anymore. Same thing with Shnookums and Meat, which, last I check, still has plenty of its episodes up on YT to make up for Disney's apathy.

Compare that to, say, the Aladdin TV show, which has to be warped significantly in order to get the episodes on there, even though the series isn't even on Disney+ for whatever reason. Seriously, they've got fucking Quack Pack on there, why not the Aladdin series?

Speaking of Disney. There was supposdely a book about the productions of Disney Afternoon(e.g the original Ducktales, Gummy Bears, etc) that was in the works for quite awhile now. It has been delayed again. Don't be surprised if Snookums and Meat is nowhere mentioned in that book. If they're not on Disney+ then they're not in the book.

You know I mostly see white sjws who make a big deal out of this. I talked to my step mother. I remmber asking her about what shows she liked to watch as a kid in Ecuador? She responded with Six Million dollar man and Charlie's angels and the Looney toons. You know shows with white people as the lead. She didn't seem to care that they didn't look like her and has fond memories of those shows as well.

You know other since she married my dad. I am starting to wonder how many actual Hispanics care about represention in media. Because she doesn't seem to care about tv shows that my dad likes doesn't have enough Hispanics or anything like that. In fact so far she likes alot of the shows my dad introduces her too. Because she doesnt seem to care if a main character on a show or movie isn't Hispanic. Really makes me wonder if it really is mostly sjw weirdos like Saberspark?

Saberspark uses a lot of words but all I can see when I read them is "Like me! Please, p-please like me!" His tweets are so stilted and unnatural, you can't help but read into what they really mean.

Really makes me wonder if it really is mostly sjw weirdos like Saberspark?

'Course it is.

I completely forgot Marsupilami was a thing that I had seen.
As someone who's read the comics. I find it quite insulting that the Disney artists didn't even bother trying to make it close to the source material. Its just them trying to follow the formula of Timon and Pumba with having a different character that is trying to be like Bugs Bunny without any wit and charm. It just feels genetic even coming from Disney back then.

Hell, one of the most beloved characters in Latin America is Goku, a fair skinned human alien made by a Japanese guy. No matter what country or time period you come from, what gets people excited is interesting characters and concepts, something that many Western content creators seem to refuse to do.
Disney is the most soulless corporation in existence.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the Disney Renaissance era and a lot of the 90s and 00s shows still hold up today. Even some of their films from the new millennium were diamonds in the rough. Even I have to admit the mid to late 2010s have been a nearly creative slough on both the film and TV fronts and the 2020s don’t look to be any better. It just feels like there’s a spark missing lately.

I’d be remiss to ask if there’s a corporation that isn’t soulless.
