Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I'm all for it. The fact of the matter is that a lot of people animation deserve to be paid better than they do, and if they get a better deal it's going to be better for the industry.

Animation writers in particular deserve to be better paid and get royalties. If most people knew the truth about that it would shock them.

As for who Holly is, I vaguely-kinda-sorta know her through people I vaguely-kinda-sorta know in the animation fan community. She doesn't seem like the kind of person who would deliberately ruin careers - she just posts a lot of Simpsons memes... of course, I don't actually know her, so I could be wrong.
I did a google search on this Holly woman. I found that she did a webcomic that she made for her tumblr page. Its quite diabetic, not in the good way. Some of my peers have ran into her. She does post Simpson memes, and she lashes out on ANYONE who criticizes her friends work, that also includes tvskyle who she seems to be a bit 'too close' to him in terms of how she sees him. Its a little disturbing. So far I dont think she's done any actual animation work for studios, or even freelance for that matter.
Speaking of Animation, How does everyone feel about the whole #NewDeal4Animation thing that's happening currently

If the animation industry was good business, this deal wouldn't be happening. And if people are getting screwed over. Its time for the deal to get rolling. I am for it since the artists do need to be treated better and get paid more.

Animation is a tough business and the workers deserve to be paid more. It's the reason why I'm usually more lenient than most when it comes to criticizing things, mostly because a lot of the time you just know those mistakes came from people overworked and underpaid.

Like I said, I don't know her. She probably is a nut, but that's kind of immaterial to the whole thing.

The mistakes generally come from people in South Korea who actually do the animation. The unionized stateside people, however, do deserve a better deal.

Incidentally, John DiMaggio has broken his silence on the Futurama negotiations. Apparently he wants a better deal not just for him, but for the rest of the cast.

I was mostly referring to the boarders, writers etc. I know they outsource that stuff. Really it'd be better if it was all handled in-house, but such is life.

It's a good initiative. People working in animation have been getting short end of the stick for too long. Better pay and working conditions would attract better talent and make worker retention easier, possibly leading to better shows. Everyone would benefit except for greedy executives. At the same time I am afraid that this will get coopted by people more invested in social politics.

Now that I think of it. When was the last time animation was done in the USA without having to be rely on Koreans or Canadians to do all the work?
When Filmation shut down. Lou Scheimer prided himself on never outsourcing. When the Animation Guild went on strike to protest outsourcing in 1982, he picketed his own studio in solidarity.

Practically every major studio has had the work outsourced since then.

This looks truly repulsive; you can't make a joke about uncanny valley 3d animation when your actual 3d-pretending-to-be-hand-drawn animation looks that creepy and uncomfortable. The characters' faces move like they've been injected with botox.

“Nobody wants a reboot.”

Ah, the Matrix Resurrection approach.
The funniest part is the CGI character pretending to be 2D telling the actual CGI character they're bad.

Last year’s Tom and Jerry movie looked better than this.

oh good we're back.

I finally finished the last two seasons of Bojack Horseman after dropping it due to lack of interest and I have to ask what did Mr Peanutbutter do exactly? I get that Bojack is an amoral sociopathic junkie so it's basically inevitable that his actions backfire and horrible shit happens to him but what exactly did Mr Peanutbutter do to be degraded into a clinically depressed foreveralone cuckhold?

Maybe I'm reading into it too much but it almost seems like purely due to a dislike of men the writers made all the male characters except Todd suffer in weird and inorganic ways in the last few seasons.
Mr. PB was used for all he was worth which was a kindly naive version of Bojack. He cared too much about Diane and chased her away, didn't care enough for Pickles and chased her away too and was just there until the finale. Todd's annoying ass got passes because he's AsExUaL and the show tried to make his reveal on par with gay coming-outs (which aren't the fucking same but they tried it).

The last season was nothing but swings and misses.

Somehow this caused Pixar/disney fans to lose their collective mind on twitter
Pixar fell off when they made Cars 2, Brave and Incredibles 2. Where has Bolverk been?

Yeah it's very weird a bunch of blue checkmarks like Matt McMuscles responded to it too.

Why are people defending this trash?
muh disney is always gud, muh i work for disney so bow to me, muh like it or else i'll cancel/blacklist you. Could be anything it's twatter after all.

When are twitterfags/Disneyfags not losing their collective mind?
When twitter is down. 🚬

As far as I know, Disney's main studio and Pixar still do the work in house. DreamWorks too, though they have dabbled in outsourcing as well.

I tried to find the picture of when the guy took a picture of a bunch of blocks, yet a woman got in the way of the picture and tried to make it all about herself.

Thats basically what I get from looking at this with this exaggerated pose.
