Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

The Looney Tunes Show is nothing like that. It’s barely like the sitcoms of the modern era. I presume you watch Seinfield so think about that without the laugh track and it’s animated with anthropomorphic animals, that’s the Looney Tunes Show.

I would say it’s a cliche but there’s a more sensible reason why this is. The girlfriends of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck: Lola Bunny and Tina Russo, are literally the direct opposites of their boyfriends. Bugs is more of a chill and relaxed, a bit snarky, level-headed person (initially in season 1, he was a Mary Sue, but as the series progress and realize its identity, breaks down what make Bugs into a Mary Sue, making him a level-minded yet flawed character), compared to Lola Bunny, who is crazy, impulsive, clumsy, and a bit psychotic, which is what makes the series humorous. Daffy Duck on the other hand is a lolcow, he is Bugs’ housemate in the suburban house that they live in but he has no money, no job, and leaches off of Bugs for gibs. Daffy is arrogant, retarded, selfish, takes advantage of his friend Porky Pig, and has a lot of get rich quick schemes, which is the source of the humor in the series. Compare that to Tina Russo, who is yes, a nagger, but she works her butt off (in a copy place) and has gotten herself a home. Even so, Daffy’s character development is subtle so he doesn’t change after Tina’s complaints in the same episode but rather over a season, and the final episodes of season 2 proves it. I think you will heavily enjoy the chemistry.
But this is the point here. Lola IS portrayed as a naggy woman (and also due in large to the fact that she's voiced by Kristen Wiig herself), and I liked that way better than what she was prior. Her different personality has given more of her new upgrade.

I’m sorta confused why you disagreed. They’re both naggy women since Lola is psychotic. I thought I mentioned she herself is an improvement in The Looney Tunes Show over the Space Jam version.

Nice list man, but can I suggest a few additions?

Generator Rex
While the show technically ended, it was supposed to go on longer p, but CN cut the plug on action series. The show is probably the best non-DC action series on the network. It had a perfect blend of action and horror along with genuinely good western story telling for a show that is just mature Ben 10. You can tell Man of Action loved the series as it was a way to make Ben 10 the way they wanted. Rex didn’t come with the same corporate meddling Ben’s popularity created, leading to a much more mature show.

Justice League Action
A fun show that really didn’t get a fair chance. It was shit on day one because muh DCAU, a problem that sadly plagues many DC projects. The show is not deep or plot rich like the original JL or JLU, but the characters are on brand and it does a good job letting B and C listers get some spot light. It had fun with the DC universe without completely devolving it, creating a respectful action-comedy.

Beware The Batman
The unfortunate 4th child of the modern Batman cartoons. Poor guy has to overcome a 1st child that all the children are compared to, a 2nd that tried and failed to follow the 1st, but still had many good aspects, and a 3rd that broke away from the two and carved its own much loved niche. This one tried to differentiate itself by having a cast of mostly d-lister villains and a serialized story. For what it was, it was good, but one season couldn’t do the show any Justice. It had amazing versions of characters like Pyg, Man-Bat, and Metamorpho, but never got to expand like it needed. The show was made for a failing block of CN on the peak of cancellation once it aired, it never stood a chance.

I only disagreed because you think it's a bad thing.

Beware the Batman is also an unfortunate victim of being “written off”, which means that it can never be rerun again.

Makes sense, the show wasn’t that successful in addition to its fate already being sealed by the network day one. A lot of people write this series off as being shit. At the time we still weren’t over the BTAS worship yet, so shows like The Batman and Brave & The Bold were still fairly hated, let alone this obvious downgrade. The crew shot themselves in the foot by having the cast mostly comprised of d-list Bat villains. Not many wanted a series where Batman takes on Anarchy, Pyg, Whale, or Humpty Dumpty. Animation was also poor with generic looking, lifeless backgrounds.

I agree. For me, the final result for Beware the Batman, in terms of art design, felt too generic. At least other shows prior like The Batman and Brave and The Bold had more personality, and not just the artstyle themselves. Sure, the two scream "product of 2000s," but they both are energetic, even looking at them.

As for the villains, yeah they are unmemorable as sin, yet I really wanted to like Anarchy and Humpty Dumpty and both of their respective origin stories. Overall, it's one of those products that exists, yet disappears in a normal person's mind in less than a few seconds. It's very forgettable.

So I decided to check out the New Harley Quinn and it's less a special so much as it's season 3 episode 11. Also they dropped the long and drawn out problematic something something title and just call is Harley Quinn Valentine's special. (the second time something Harley Quinn related did that)

I don't know who's idea it was to make Clayface and Riddler flaming homos and one in love with clock king...but whoever did thanks a lot you killed some of my favorite memories of Batman TAS.

Also for some god forsaken reason the special ripped off the characters talking into the camera thing from of all things the big mouth valentine's special itself a rip-off from what women want if i recall correct.

There's an "homage" to the death of the Wayne's in Crime alley only done with clayface getting cat fished and mugged by captain boomerang, and by homage I mean a whizz on the graves of Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Because later he ends up falling in love with his own lower half. Literally his own ass. JFC The Mark Miller comic wanted, was a better portrayal of clayface and fyi that comic changed his name to shithead and turned him into a literal pile of living evil shit.

Wonder woman falls for Harley's lying and deception to steal her lasso of truth...yeah I'm really convinced this is all happening in Harley's warped little mind preferably while shes still in a cell doped up to the gills in Arkham.

They seriously had the balls to advertise HBO max in an hbo max show. Space jam 2 wasn't as shameful as that. Because as least that movie didn't name drop the streaming service.

The sex humor is just to so juvenile. I know it's poor form to quote a lolcow but in the words of mrenter "because this is an adult show and we need to randomly throw in references to sex, because it's an adult show and that is the only thing unique to being an adult. Like the sex scene between Harley and Ivy is just barley softcore. There's no need for it to be in an official DC product when there's literally porn of these characters all over the internet.

The Darksied joke was limited to one of those cutaways but...damn I felt bad for the dead animators of the Golden age, now I feel sorry for Jack Kirby. Like Countdown to final crisis' darksied had more dignity than that.

Surprise surprise Harley's still an idiot who never learns. In this case she never learns when enough is enough. It wasn't funny, it wasn't sexy, it was just boring and cringe...but it was at least better than Velma, but only in comparison.

I'm tired of comic heroes and tired of spinoffs based on them. I'm sticking with ones from back when the world made sense.

Didn't that really start (at least with the Riddler) with the '60s TV show? Riddler was always played really camp.
There's no need for it to be in an official DC product when there's literally porn of these characters all over the internet.
Catering to shippers was the death knell of "adult" Western animation.

Riddler was made gay by the Gotham tv show, so the Harley Quinn staff didn’t start this. Him and the Penguin were in a weird romance plot.

I personally prefer the quote, “What I am doing is wrong, I know it’s wrong, but I am going to do it anyway”. Mr Enter may be a lolcow, but that quote is embedded in my mind as it perfectly describes all these new meta-series.

Can I ask one thing?

What profits are being made from propaganda/controversy and twatter discourse? The point of good/bad press is to get eyeballs on the show/movie/game and wallets open for merch to keep the fucking lights on to make more stuff. The suits keep announcing cuts and losses in their earnings and the very people who make this stuff are being passed around or pushed out. Which means the money isn't coming from viewership (doubt it has in a while) nor is it coming from reviews since let's be honest, the hacky retards have to pay them for any press.

So I ask again: WHAT FUCKING PROFITS ARE BEING MADE FROM ALL THIS????

What the fuck is this, was I never watched the original show, but I doubt it was anything like this shit

edit: Oops did I drop something

It's a continuation "for modern audiences". So like Oats said, it's propaganda in a skinsuit. The original is worth the watch since it's from a simpler time.

The answer is they don’t. Money comes from other places. It is probably a few things.

1. You have fuck you money to sit on, so you pump out garbage with no care in the world. Basically, stuff like the MCU covers all the failures, so higher ups don’t care.

2. Tax right offs, pretty self-explanatory.

3. Funded by a political party - I believe CNN had backers from the Costal Dem Party as the head since 08 was their member. Dems in general are pretty notorious for funding shit in media.

4. Lying - Just bullshit to investors and grab money that way. It is the reason Twitter lasted so long past Dem cash.

5. Mergers/ buy outs - Again, self-explanatory

Really, the thing is that company leaders are not invested in the brand past themselves. Iger couldn’t give too fucks about Disney as he will leave with a hefty sum of cash, regardless of outcome. Hollywood and large industries have rampant unaccountability issues and this is the conclusion to that. It is all a long con now, but that leaves nothing for sustainability past the present, a lesson that many investors and leaders will learn the hard way.

So I ask again: WHAT FUCKING PROFITS ARE BEING MADE FROM ALL THIS????
3 letters: ESG. In case you aren't aware, ESG stands for Environmental, Social, & Governance - a coercively imposed Orwellian dictum presumed to apply to every major corporation in the U.S. and abroad, prescribing their accepted politics and pinko policies with a huge emphasis on rainbow flags and philanthropy. If by philanthropy, you mean forced-as-fuck, gun-to-your-temple, "donate to BLM and assorted other pet money laundering schemes causes of ours whether you're affiliated with the Commie Chinks or not, or lose billions of Bezo-bucks".

These consolidated corporate cunt-flaps who all agree in principle on the adoption of ESG represent a seismic Scrooge-McDuckian money pile, and in a functional context, that means ESG functions as a kind of fiscal safety net. Making a movie that unintentionally (or intentionally) alienates your intended audience? Fuck it - flash a few rainbow flags in the ad campaign, and all of a sudden, you've got a Starbucks promotion and are making millions more with half the viewership. Running an age-old newspaper with more circulation issues than MovieBob's feet? No problem! ESG it the fuck up and encourage a billionaire buyout so some ass canoe from a coastal corporation can have his very own Bolshevik bullying pulpit.

Major factors play in this role, and those are the following:
Acquisitions/buyouts/mergers, tax-write off, invention of lying, funding the democratic party or China or just Disney altogether.
