Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Superman: The Animated Series is seriously underrated. I'd argue it's about on-par with Batman: The Animated Series.

It sort of blends in with the rest of the DCAU which is why it doesn’t get spoken about often. Many of its plot lines get concluded in Justice League, so it doesn’t necessarily stand that well on its own compared to taking it as the “true” start to the DCAU.

The DCAU should really just be labeled as its own entity as one giant series. Besides pre-New Adventures Batman, and early Static Shock, pretty much everything folds into each other and concludes in Justice League.

Will you fucks stop posting WEB ANIMATION in here?!
It was really good though. Funny this evolved from a short to a pilot like they're looking to compete with Spindlehorse. I welcome the competition but I want the comic to go back to updating again.

First the commercial now a trailer? I feel spoiled. :heart-full:

The new Superman cartoon is apparently also airing on Adult Swim now, /co/ mentioned it. CN seems to be a dead brand proped up by Cartoonito and AS now.
Beanmouth killed the CN star. And that nu Superman show looks like the opposite of Unicorn Warriors Eternal: unoriginal, by-the-numbers and ugly. We'll see I guess.

I didn't even know there was a new superman cartoon to be honest. Is it any good?
It isn’t out yet, but this is the promotional image.

Lois looks like an Owl House character and Jimmy continues to be black-washed, but at least Clark looks good.

CN has relied on Teen Titans Go to have any sort of traction while they tried to call for a hail-mary that would give people reason to watch it instead of Adult Swim for a while now, especally since many of their best options have ethier been delining in quality before just getting shitcanned outright (Regular Show) or are cared about for entirely different reasons (Steven Universe being a easy go-to for that example.)

Last Minute Edit:

I can only guess they grabbed some artists from The Owl House becuase Disney couldn't censor the gay kiss for china and just killed it instead.

Oh, and my two cents on CN here, it died in 2013 (even earlier).
I would claim Gumball was the end of classic CN. It was pretty much the final cartoon to interact with the old shows in any significant way. Check out the 20th anniversary bumpers and compare them to the 25th and 30th, and it pretty much highlights CN’s departure from the past significantly. Gumball was also the last IP to be in FusionFall prior to shut down. By all accounts, old CN died around Gumball and new CN took foot with TTG and Steven, even if they border on being old at this point.

I'll say that Uncle Grandpa was a fun guilty pleasure and Over the Garden Wall was magnificent, so these two fit as CN's final good shows. But then again, the two came out around the time SU and TTG debuted in popularity, yet I can't fault the two for the death of CN either, believe it or not.

The animation in certain scenes genuinely surprised me with how good it got. I thought this was going to be helluva boss levels of bad but the writing is decent. I have never read the original comic so I can't really do a compare and contrast. The cat in the blue suit going full on joker ripoff and just being plain fucking annoying did get on my nerves a bit. The main group seem to be teenagers and we did get the bare minimum of decent character writing sooo.... 7.6/10 from me. I have seen art from the web comic though and it looks actually pretty good might check it out someday.

I seriously thought this was tumblr fanart of the Owl House "in anime style" until you mentioned that the girl looked like an Owl House character
