Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Don’t blame SU for CN’s fall, it got treated like crap by the company as much as anyone. They wouldn’t air the show for like a year and then suddenly dump five new episodes in a week, followed by not airing it at all again.
SU and TTG are shows I feel border on being classics. Both are pretty misunderstood and have some genuine high points, but at the same time, represent the pivot into everything wrong with the industry today. SU had great story potential and great character moments, it just pissed it away the further it went as it made side quests the main event. TTG is genuinely funny at times, and if it wasn’t for the Titans branding, I doubt many would really have that much issue with it.

I think the fact that these two are still remembered and spoken about today shows they have something to them. Most bad shows like PPG 2016 are just completely left to rot at this point.

I have t seen much of the show, but I actually really enjoyed the movie when it was in theaters.(TTG)

Do you like Drawn Together? TTG is basically Drawn Together for kids. A highly trashy cartoon that shits on the medium, but honestly, it is really funny. I think this post pretty much sums up the no fucks given nature of the series.

they bring back George Washington to what?!
I think it is the episode where they bring him back to hold an election for Titans leader, to which he beats Robin, so Robin goes back in time and becomes the first president.

The list is also missing some notable classics
> Robin stops Globohomo by promoting American superiority and beating the Queen of England’s ass for turning Titans into Britbongs.

> Titans address the criticisms of Mr. Enter (no seriously) by creating an episode with a lesson, that being a long lecture on buying real-estate and running an apartment complex.

> Titans fight the Illuminati, which admits Hollywood is part of Globohomo

Teen Titans do an entire episode in the style of a 80’s apocalypse record cover to appropriate music.

I really hate Luz.
Dana Terrance you literal piece of shit, destroyed all the representation of Tomboys (fuck you Korra, not this time) in cartoons :(
I have a friend who really liked the Owl House, but I would ask what she thought of Luz and all the good will would evaporate from her face.

The days of happy go lucky quirky protagonist are waning. Luz and her stupid stonetoss bird mouth is the herald of the end.

I think the big issue with Western animation is that while Japs and Europoors have animation whos TARGET AUDIENCE is adults, I'm not seeing any animation here that isn't just a kid's show with a neckbeard adult audience.
Where's Heavy Metal? Where's Aeon Flux? Don't tell me that "adult cartoons" exist(Rick and Morty, Bojack, whatever fucking other Brickleberry knockoffs there are), because these are not targeted to adults they are targeted to the manchildren that watch the kids cartoon in the same way that no real man will ever buy a Man Crate(tm). The closest thing to a really good adult cartoon was Venture Brothers and that was in 2003.
Is there something I'm missing? Maybe a good current Adult Swim (RIP) cartoon?

It's like Little Witch Academia, but with the energy and soul taken away, and all protagonists ended up being Akko. Dana had already shown us warning signs for how bad her show is going to look even before release, and as expected, it was bad.

And also because of this
Especially when those teens are a self insert and a roommate who got away.

Seriously the main character is based on her old roommate she had a crush on and the love interest is clearly modeld from her own awful style. I can't find it right now but there is a self portrait that looks exactly like the love interest aged up.

It's really creepy when an adult involves kids to their dating hang ups.

You really have to appreciate TTGo for deliberately shitting on autists taking the original way too seriously.

I don't get the faggy Disney children animation hype. Do "The Owl House" and "Amphibia" really deserve much attention from autistic manchildren? Is there something I'm missing, like revolutionary characters or master-crafted worldbuilding?
Neither show seemed worth watching from what I've seen of them. The only currently running Disney shows that I've liked are Big City Greens and Hamster & Gretel.

Lois looks like an Owl House character and Jimmy continues to be black-washed, but at least Clark looks good.
Oh I remember when this was talked about on here. I think I had it blocked from my brain so I forgot about it. Should I block it again?

About above I really did enjoy Gumball as one of CN's last resistance shows. When you think back it was pretty cool to see different animation forms interacting and having personality.

Even to this day, I still seethe at what DreamWorks did to Spirit; making a Netflix bootleg series and a movie that was outsourced to some britbong studio. It seems that Hollywood likes to fuck over horse-centric movies too.

I will take my hats now.
Spirit became all of a sudden popular because little girls (its demographic) love horses and DreamWorks was focused on the merchandising and not on the quality. Still, it never should've become a franchise, but a standalone movie, which wasn't even good to begin with.

Gumball is just visually fun to watch. I could see art teachers using it as a lesson tool.
