SU and TTG are shows I feel border on being classics. Both are pretty misunderstood and have some genuine high points, but at the same time, represent the pivot into everything wrong with the industry today. SU had great story potential and great character moments, it just pissed it away the further it went as it made side quests the main event.
I think they're more spoken about in a bad light (SU more than TTG).
Look, back in 2013/2014 when CN was on a hot streak and lore shows were relatively sparse SU looked to be something great.
You had a spunky fat kid going on adventures learning his new powers with his alien moms, catchy music, and picture-esque backgrounds. Like woahg it's basically AT but more focus on lore and they cry more.
But then 160 eps later you're left with a show that wanted to do too much and no focus. Like it wanted really hard to be avatar AND juggle issues about self-esteem, loving yourself, identity and other issues teens with shitty parents deal with and just couldn't make it work.
The cluster was a flop, amethyst was just a lame character, they flopped bismuth, and they flopped the finale. And yeah it had potential but after 5 seasons, a movie, and an epilogue series I can't really feel too sorry for them. AFAIK the execs gave Rebecca Sugar everything she asked for that wasn't a 3 hour lecture on all 85+ genders.
The movie was great and I thought Pearl/Pink Diamond stuff was the most solid of the series.
and if it wasn’t for the Titans branding, I doubt many would really have that much issue with it.
This is why I hate reboots. It's always a lose-lose situation.
If they're bad they just bring the property down. If they're good then you have to clash with other fans and just deal with networks whoring the IP like star wars.
Like yeah reboots will always be a thing but I'm just salty they make up most of the media diet now.
