Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I don't have time to watch the whole thing, but I heard he thinks the Nick version of Doug was better than the Disney one.

Does he say that here?
He doesn't mention it from what I remember, he talks about meeting back up with the inspiration for the Patti and Rodger characters, breaking into the industry and that kind of thing.

Doug really does remind me of someone though..

Never gets old! This was an apt comparison.

I was listening to Jim Jinkins interview, and reminded myself why I liked Pinwheel in the first place. Because of stupid stuff like this! This is the Nickelodeon nobody thinks about!

Steering this into another subject, here's a cartoon from 99 years ago that still feels fresh and relevant to me (besides the black maid appearance)...

Forgot to post this a few days ago, but here's a film from the Hubley studio commemorating the Bicentennial...

Futurama is probably my favorite Western animation at the moment. I don't think it jumped the shark yet -- unlike a certain other cartoon by Groening.

Thinking of all the problems in the world today. This Canadian entry from the NFB is more relevant than ever!

Semi related, the Rick and Morty voice actors read, word for word, a georgia court transcript.

For the record, this is the judge and defendent.

And yes, I have sources to confirm this is real.

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Speaking of which, I like to power level this thread a little by pimping a killer BluRay a pal of mine's putting out of some classic animation from a century ago!

(I really do hate how URL's from certain sites just don't work here).

A selection of my favorite animated movies or TV shows:
Sita Sings the Blues (a study in Hinduism!)
Coraline (terrify children with claymation!)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (complex but kid-friendly!)
Rango (I fucking love Rango!)
Daria (who took this off the air?)
Adventure Time (complex but kid friendly with a fun art style and minimum pandering!)

I see someone uploaded a film that was my gateway to deep, thought-provoking concepts in animation! Brought to you by the guys behind marketing Hello Kitty for the past 4 decades and the studio that ended up doing TMNT soon enough!

It was 25 years ago today that Nickelodeon first debuted its own original cartoons:

Sadly I didn't have cable that first year they came on, had to wait until the second season of these shows to view 'em. But yes, a milestone.
