Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

The new Castlevania's first 2/3 episodes were dogshit and very predictable. Richter is a quippy Marvel hero whose first line of dialogue as an adult is "That makes no heccin sense!" When being told The Vampire Messiah is coming.

Why does that make no sense? This is a world where horrible monsters are a known quantity.

His voice is also terribly miscast and the mic quality is entirely different from the rest of the VAs. There's a black nigress vampire who has vibrant pink hair and is dressed like a modern day pop star. Of course the two black sidekicks that show up and one of them sings a really shitty 'sad/emotional' song during a funeral because black people only exist in Netflix slop to sing songs so they can hopefully get another Toss a Coin to your Witcher.

You know..the castlevannia series DID have entries that moved the setting from medieval Europe to the distant future. They were the really obscure and not so fondly remembered entries of the ds and gba but still if you wanted a castlevannia with pop singing jungle bunnies you could have used THOSE games to justify their existence....I'm not saying it would have what you're describing better just...more justified than fucking up the setting of Europe before America was even discovered.

Really all this shit does is make me glad the "father" of castlevannia left the series a long time ago to make his own castlevannia...it's called the bloodstained games and they're far better than anything wokenomi will do for the next hundred years or so.

Even as someone who has almost no experience with the games I found it ludicrously predictable. The first episode, a blonde haired blue eyed Christian priest shows up and he has some Templar goons. I turned to my wife and said "By the end of episode 3 this guy will be revealed to be evil, watch."

Lo and fucking behold.

90% of multiverse shit is some flavor of "our world but everyone wears silly hats and we can kill major characters without consequence"
Pretty much, but instead of silly hats it's either niggers or bent gender. If I could I would have taken Schrödinger and sealed him in a box with poison for unleashing his retarded concept.

They probably don't know any games other than the most popular entries in the series. Time and time again it's been shown that the people working on these projects don't give a single shit about the source material so they won't bother to research anything that doesn't appear in the Google auto-complete when you type Castlevannia.

And speaking of, (and yes I'm crossposting this from the Tomb Raider thread) from the same studio behind Castlevania, they're bringing you this, also for Netflix

Fuck this gay earth

Castlevania Nocturne was fine animation-wise, but excruciating in every other way. Total letdown with the story, characters, but in the end, nothing new for Nogflix (let's race-swap everyone). Definitely not coming back for S2.

I expect the Tomb Raider series to get eviscerated in a similar fashion.
It´s a shame because I only saw the first 2 episodes and it was awesome, I guess all went downhill very fast

I mean...They really can butcher the Tomb Raider saga even more?!

I'm gonna predict that the new Tomb Raider series is going to start like shit and finally get cancelled. I know the show has 2 and 3 seasons confirmed, respectively, and this show isn't out yet, but I know the show will just end after season 1 with 2 and 3 not getting made.

And I'll bet that they won't even commit to the idea of Lara having dual pistols in every episode, so they'll focus on her shitty bow and arrow used in the 2010s survivor trilogy. I'm telling you, this will make the 2018 movie look like Shakespeare by comparison.

Shit, at least Castlevania started out fresh, but that was season 1. Afterwards, it turned into absolute dogshit.

Yes. Because zoomers born in 2002 onward only know the 2010s survivor trilogy and nothing else, and even if they do know about classic Lara, they'll only focus on the movies from Angelina Jolie from the early-2000s.

I was already hesitant to watch Fionna and cake, but the minute he started mentioning multiverses I tuned out.

I was a huge fan of Adventure Time s1-3 but then s4-5 wore me down and s6 sealed the deal. I liked it when it was just silly adventures in this creepy world with nonsensical humor, but now they have to have lore and over-arching plot to explain every detail of the show.

Remember that episode where Jake lost his powers to a witch and they spent the ep trying to recreate when he first got them because he's too much of an asshole to just apologize to the witch? Just a silly episode.

Well now he's actually an alien re-incarnated in the form of a dog and the planet's pressure makes his alien DNA stretchy or whatever bullshit they came up with.

That's what Fionna and Cake feels like. What was just a cute genderbent gag ep is not only canon but actually it's on a separate layer of the multiverse.

Ice king didn't even write the fanfiction. It's just some weird mini-verse that was torrented into his mind palace or whatever.

Shows can't be subtle or have dumb gags anymore. Everything has to be connected or part of a bigger picture.

Most of my anger is just sour grapes from seeing people enjoy a show I used to like. But from what I saw it just looks like if AT had a Bee and Puppycat crossover.
I feel you. Stopping serialization is always a mistake.

I haven't seen anyone posting this, so here.
Some fresh coal from the new Castlevania season

Overall the online reaction to Nocturne is very mixed you can say

You're thinking of Aria and Dawn of Sorrow. Dawn was okay but Aria is considered one of the best games in the series. Despite them taking place in the future they still revolve around exploring Dracula's castle, and the characters present are pretty grounded. So they wouldn't work at all to explain these new characters.

I refuse to watch this new show. Not because they have a pink haired poc girl boss, that's not the problem. That's every where now. The original show was try hard, miserable, and pointless. It had nothing to say about Castlevania or even vampires as a whole. This show looks the same, and setting it in the French revolution just serves to take away more from the conflict between vampire hunters and the people of the night.

Calling it here, the entire show will be "people bad" until the last minute when the big bad summons or becomes a big monster. Than it will be "people bad, but not all the time I guess".

Edit: That Richter monologue is fucking AIDS. "I was gonna say something cool but the writer gave up". What is this fucking Forespoken?

I have good memories of playin Order of Ecclesia while being a fresh army recruit, fun mechanics and return to the past without too much weirdness.
