100 pages ago I posted an episode of crusader rabbit the first attempt to develop animation for television, 100 pages before that I posted the oldest surviving work of what can be considered animation. I debated on whether to post a clip from the ruff n reddy show, the first effort by Hannah Barbera after leaving MGM studios that would start a long running heritage of television animation that lasted almost 40 years but maybe I'll post that later.


Instead please enjoy the sculptors nightmare from 1908.

Paranorman, coraline, chicken run, Wallace and gromit, gumby, before all if them there was this simple short created possibly in the Edison labs of Menlo Park.

What I am going to fault it for was all the leaked content saying that the actual show would have taken a dive into the real culprit of the “glitch” apocalypse being… “toxic online culture”. Give me a goddamn break, glad that it’s dead if that was the goal.

The entire series was going to be DeviantArt tier and a poor man's Epic Mickey. It is filled with anime references and the glitch was supposed to be made of memes and trolling. Warner likely dropped it as the entire project would have been more embarrassing to their brand then Space Jam 2.

To be fair, Epic Mickey is already a poor man's Epic Mickey. It never lived up to those leaked images.

Does anyone here want to like modern western animation (owl house, haileys on it, bluey, ect) but can't because of all the problems it has? Ex: danna Terrance lezing out owl house to no end and bragging about how she convinced the mouse to do it even though it got her black listed, haileys even though it first episode ticked every woke perfect world delusion of graunder? (Black female ex athlete president of a world saved from from climate change by a colored but not jungle bunny girl) and of course bluey for being a genuinely good show...except that it's attracted every vile pos from autists to diddlers who wanna f the underage dogs and won't keep it to themselves.


Its left me split between two feelings. One a desire to not be a bitter angry cynic that is always complaining like some old washed up recluse Aka "old coot yells at cloud." And the other to be a sound minded individual who sees this crap for the crap it is and rightfully point it out.

I just generally tend to stick to the shows I like and ignore others. Don't force yourself to like something if it's really not your thing or if it rubs you the wrong way. There's a world of difference between personal taste and just sperging about culture war bullet points.

It's only certain aspects of the shows I meantioned (amd others) that rub me the wrong wayband inly in disappointment more than anger or anything of that sort. The shows I mentioned among a lot of modern western animation HAS...had...has the potential to be just as good or decently on par with what came before. The problem is the culture war spergatry and it's effects have been a disaster for Western animation.


As the saying goes if you try to make everybody happy, then nobody will be happy.

That and "pibby can be any ethnicity :+)))" I thought this show could be fun but between this and the rabbit's 'evil form' being a tired 4channer parody there was little hope this could go anywhere. I can see why Adult Swim executives would not greenlight this if greenly kept trying to push it into an 'people I don't like on the internet bad' direction, and he couldn't even use it to comment on how cartoon fanatics themselves are a terrible part of that mix. I'd guess the real reason it never made it past the drawing board is that those holding the rights to these old ips don't want them to be systematically ruined and then killed on screen, but modern writers seem to do this to beloved characters on a regular basis so idk.

This...this is exactly what I was talking about. The pilot of pibby showed potential as a show...because they hadn't inserted all this crap into it like they planned too. The glitch was unknown, most believing it to be corruption of childhood innocence/memories, pibby and bunny were likable because they were simple. And it seemed like a new idea not derivate of the writers taking other ideas and reusing them in borderline plagiarism. Like they straight up stole that paint thinner idea from epic Mickey, it may as well be the dip from wfrr.

Here’s my two cents;

1. Owl House: I feel like if the characters and the plot were more interesting, Owl House could’ve been a decent show but that would require writers and a creator that aren’t a bunch of dorks and fags.

2. Hailey’s On It: It’s just woke trash.

I thought this was a fun april fools idea but the actual short they released was so generic I was annoyed to find people thought it would be a series. It's about as uninspired as when people take pokemon or garfield or something and render it all "real and scary".

if they were to make it a real series I think the guys who did amazing world of Gumball would be good for it, it should be mixed media. The fact that everything in the original short was animated identically was what made it worse.

Here’s my two cents;

That's exactly why I stick to the first 12 episodes when I ain't got nothing better to do. After that it stopped being a half decent show that happened to be written by dorks and fags (including a creator who made an entire prom episode just because she was STILL seething about her own prom being a failure like wtf dana nobody gives a shit a year after their prom let alone 20 years) and became a show written by dorks and fags for dorks and fags.

2. Hailey’s On It: It’s just woke trash.

Really these three where just the first most modern. And talked about shows off the top of my head, I meant modern western animation as a whole like with the recent pibby debacle the pilot showed pibby had promise and could have been a companion piece to smiling friends..but now we're learning the staff planned on running it into the ground after a promising start.

I feel ya, one part of me is an angry cynic that can’t stand these trash writers and their fanbase.

The other part of me just wants to ignore these idiots and focus on my life.

Such is the sad two faced fate of a kiwi farmer friend. Cynical and bitter about everything but also too optimistic to know when to let go and move on.

Man, I swear as I get older, when I watch contemporary Pixar movies, they get better every time.

I decided to re-watch Toy Story (1995) after finishing up with Monsters University (2013). Still holds up every time, though out of all the three movies (never saw the fourth, probably not worth it), the second was my favorite as a little kid, probably due to this song.

the ending has Woody leave his friends and family behind to be a lost toy with Bo Peep (despite in the 1st movie, when he was left beind at the gas station, practically broke down over the thought of being a lost toy)

i could go on, but a dedicated autist did it for me

If I recall correctly, the other supporting characters don’t really even have a purpose either. Which makes me sad because I love Slinky, Potato Head, and the gang.

I still fully ascribe to the theory that the entire movie is a weird Buddhism allegory, where Woody and Bo become bodhisattvas, in other words “those who help others on the path of enlightenment.” There’s even an easy pun there with Bo.
