Never heard about this. Feels like something that would've fit perfectly on CN.
A while back, Maxwell Atoms had this idea that he wanted to go and make a finale for the series with it being a cosmic horror musical. It would tie loose ends and answer a few questions to the show (idk what questions were really there). He wasn't expecting it to really get out and be a thing, but in September 2021, he pitched it to CN and their response was "no kid knows what Billy and Mandy is since we don't air reruns of it."

Sucks, but yeah. Here are some stuff he made. It would have an Adult Mandy and I guess a child Billy. I forgot what the premise was, but yeah. It was on Atoms' tumblr page

That's dumb. That would've been two years after the SU movie, the biggest musical film the channel ever had. If they bothered to do some Billy and Mandy reruns to get people up to speed or just for general nostalgia purposes the musical would've landed perfectly.

Nah for whatever reason the executards in CN have always had a hate boner for Billy and Mandy despite shilling Fred Fredburger all the time and it being a draw. They'd find any excuse in the book to not air anything by Atoms.

I have a suspicion that Maxwell Atoms did something to piss off the executives whether on purpose or on accident.
Then again, it seems like CN had something against it from the beginning considering one of the execs told Max to reduce Billy's nose because for some bizarre reason the execs thought it was anti-semitic.
So Maxwell Atoms made 5 variations of his nose and the execs picked 3, Atoms just went 5 instead and no one complained.

I think they just hate the era. Let’s not act like Atoms was the only one to get burned as the equally popular KND was denied a continuation as well.

Besides Ben 10, and I guess Samurai Jack, CN very rarely references any of their 2000s original series. I am surprised Foster’s is even getting a preschool series due to this. Compared to the 90s and 2010s, you can tell that the 00s decade was the company’s least favorite outside their action series.

In all honesty, at this point, I don't want any of the old stuff to get anything new and come back. You just know the Cartoon Network higher ups would force all sorts of "current year" bullshit into any sort of revival/finale/movie/whatever based off an old series.

I guess Ed, Edd n Eddy would be an exception since Antonucci holds total creative control over it but that ended so well it doesn't need anything more.

Nick handled those a lot better with the hey arnold jungle movie and enter the florpus. But then they burned their track record with static cling. Which was..fine up until it became Joe Murray's soapbox to tell 90s nostalgia fags to stop crying the decade is long over. (I think inside job of all things handled the harsh truth about nostalgia a lot better) and then of course there's Ralph bighead trooning out.

I think static cling was the beginning of the end for nick reboots. Even though it was still a success for them it sent out the wrong message to executives about WHY these reboots worked where others failed. I'm of the mind that static clings success despite have a ton of current year bs in it is partly the reason why the new lead on the fairly oddparents reboot is a little porch monkey, or why a gay man tried to hook up with grandpa Lou in the rugrats reboot.

This makes me worried about Angry Beavers ReSpooted. Nepotistic bullshit is the reason why reboots are a thing in the modern media industry and it's been getting worse after early-2010s, and the idea of Joe Murray retconning his Ralph Bighead self by trooning said character in the process was just an excuse to collect BlackRock checks.

I think it's due to Billy & Mandy being too "obscene" for modern audiences when you compare it to the garbage that CN currently airs. On the other hand Grim & Evil aired on Adult Swim's Checkered Past block back between last August and late February this year.

We also cant forget that Michael Ouweleen, the current head of Adult Swim, called Billy & Mandy a "hateful fart cartoon" when blamed Atoms for "ruining" Cartoon Network's brand shortly before firing him from the network.

Things weren't quite so bad in 2017 and 2019, but that's true, yeah. The Ralph Bighead stuff was baffling to me, though I never watched much of that show growing up so it didn't hit me as hard. Also I haven't watched that episode of Inside Job since it came out, but wasn't a big part of that episode "Erm, actually, some of the jokes were hecking problematic in the 80s!"

Michael Ouweleen, the current head of Adult Swim,
Oh so is he the reason adult swim saved tuca and bertie from Netflix? Despite the fact that nobody who watches adult swim gives a fuck about a 30 something empty egg carton who will never raise kids still struggling to get her life in order? And Despite being 30 still approaches her problems like a whinny teenage girl?

It's amazing the cope people made up to justify it. Everything from "but Ralph always did things to go against the norm especially when it came to his dad!" To how rocko ALWAYS targeted social issues. Well yeah but at least they new how to use tact and subtlety back then and put the story before the satire.

I stopped watching after the first episode and they made him a hippie. Did pussified grandpa go for the sodomy? Or did they actually retain one singular piece of his character in making him heterosexual?
He and the gay man stayed "friends," he wasn't just a one off joke but there was a line that strongly implied Lou almost crossed that bridge once in his younger days....really

I'm glad they removed it from paramount plus and are pretending the show didn't happen then. Between this and making betty a fucking lesbian, (Am I the only one who liked her dynamic with howard or something?) I'm glad I never wasted my life watching this particular goyslop for the brain.

Is Ouweleen secretly Mr. Enter or BentheLooney? Also, I've seen worse cartoons that aired during that era, and Billy & Mandy is one of the tamest shows I've seen on the network. It may be as disturbing as something like Courage, but not as close as being horrifying, even if the two are intentional given that they're both horror comedies. Plus, both of them were awesome

Maybe they hate Irwin's portrayal and his obsession of Mandy in the show and find it problematic

Say what you will about Billy & Mandy’s treatment these days, after watching HatsOffMedia’s recent video, B&M is doing significantly better than Johnny Bravo. They actively avoid mentioning Bravo on social media and completely left him out of the 30th anniversary. I don’t think my dude is even allowed to be on Checkered Past.

I know the answer will be sexism, or some SJW rhetoric, but really, has anyone actually complained about JB? Even the staunch feminists seem to like him. Sad that a show made by a Filipino animator that only got green lit due to female higher ups in CN is now caught in political warfare.
