I genuinely can't comprehend why velma still sells itself as "murder mystery" when it seemed to actively contradict itself in season 1. Like,
i dont think people talk enough about how the mystery of season 1 makes anti-sense, so spoiler alert:
1-The villain was Fred's mom, who barely appears at all and was treated as some background joke character until the reveal.
2-All of the clues and villains action point AGAINST her and sound insane in hindsight. Fred for example was kidnapped at the festival so it obviously can't be his mom since she would kidnap him at home. Wait... Why didnt she kidnap him at home?? She could easily cover it too!
3-Her motive was to give Fred a woman brain so he would understand women's struggles but she finds none of the girls she killed cared about that shit so it was all for nothing anyway, then she tries to take velma's brain. Meaning her plan was a failure from beginning and velma almost fixed it. If it wasnt for Shaggy ex machina finding her (never explained how) and somehow deflecting a gunshot with a katana (fuck it) and killing fred's mom, she would be dead.
4-She hypnotized Velma offscreen YEARS AGO so Velma can't find the truth of her own mother and the SCOOBI project (brain transplant), but a finger snap breaks hipnosis.
Velma apparently never heard a finger snap before.
5-Wait, didnt we just stablish
she can hipnotize people? WHY DIDNT SHE HIPNOTIZE FRED INTO HER IDEAL SON FROM THE START??? Or hipnotize him instead of kidnapping him?? Or Velma?
