Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

So, I noticed a little while back that Family Guy got cut from the Fox Sunday animation block and is now on Wednesday. Then I saw recently that it's being pushed to a mid season 2025 premiere, and Seth is talking about some FG movies coming out on Hulu. I’m really starting to wonder if they are finally done with the show or if they’re going to push it exclusively to streaming (which is a death sentence anyway). Any thoughts?
I remember /co/ speaking about this awhile ago. I want to say that they switched Family Guy to Wednesday was the discussion. Basically, they were already changing the schedule and the changes made were typically done to kill off other shows previously., indicating Family Guy was coming to an end soon.

American Dad is another speculated death of a Seth show coming soon.

Dabney Coleman (The VA for the principle in Recess) is dead :(
I know it's been said by a lot of us old dogs especially as the big 3 0 rolls over each decade from 1990+ but....

Shows like recess, codename kids next door, and just little tidbits of those past days are only memories now. Like photos they're fun to look back on..but all we can do is look. Maybe try and relive the moment in the recesses of our minds but it's just not the same as being there.

A thing I've noticed about Western animation is that it seems whatever style is used almost always doesn't translate well to 3DCG and may look bad with a front view. I guess that is so such can be quickly drawn in 2D art, and are usually drawn to be facing to a side.

examples:
  • that style of Fairly OddParents
  • the Simpsons and Futurama style
  • some Homestar Runner characters

Plus when Seth does VA work in both shows, he sounds very hoarse and tiresome, so of course it is best that the two shows could end

TBF, Family Guy has been running since 1999 and unlike South Park and Simpsons their humor is based throughout its eun although I am not surprised since it is coming to an end seeing how Disney which owns Fox is more interested in pushing Simpsons more than Family Guy, plus with Family Guy's mean-spirited humor towards Disney like no wonder why it rarely appears on Disney Plus. Heck, Family Guy is less Disneyfied than the Simpsons, so yeah it may end. And if it does, that will mean the only long-running adult cartoons are South Park and Simpsons and South Park is the second longest running adult cartoon ever.

American Dad > Family Guy

Still watch it over whatever Netflix shits out.

Out if the three "conservative toons." Made as a fuck you to hollyweird why is it tuttle twins is the most...tolerable. like if it didn't take ANY political stances and was an edutainment stem show. I can see it airing on PBS alongside cyberspace or magic school bus a lifetime or two ago.

First chip chilla was skewered by animation spergs for being a ripoff og their precious "Australian dog daughter" bluey, now Mr bircham gets flack for being tosh/black show 4.0 only with the shock and raunch stripped out. (Even by us apparently) TT may not be 100 percent original (the concept alone is giving my flashbacks to cat in the hat knows a lot about that and the character designs look like lost wild krattsbackground characters) but at least it's not trying too hard to rip off the most popular kids animation or what's popular in adult sitcoms right now.
Call me a tard but Tuttle Twins helped me understand inflation and general economics way better than high-school ever did.

Funny you should mention Homestar Runner because they actually made a cartoon a few months ago making fun of that very subject matter.

Never in a million years would i expect a Calarts style reference in Spongebob.
Even if it was meant to be taken as shade thrown at the style and a criticism of it...it doesn't excuse the fact that even spongebob has become tainted by the calarts virus.

Stephen can't find peace even in death. Like a lost soul without guidance he is made to wander in eternity. Forced to watch his life's greatest achievement become desecrated again and again.

Considering that Bob Camp worked on this episode I‘d definitely chalk it up to being a bit of a “take that” to networks and streaming services preferring to greenlight long-form shows with the kinds of simplified character designs seen in SU (and AT to an extent) and tackle more thunk-provoking topics like generational trauma and mental health over simple cartoons that are designed to entertain.

The industry does not care about anyone after death. Big corpos are hellbent on milking the likes of Stephen Hillenburg, Stan Lee, Hanna & Barbera, Chuck Jones, Walt Disney, etc. and ruining their legacies, even at times just let their IPs sit and do nothing with

Yup

I think another weird thing to note about this scene was that it was storyboarded by a guy named Gabe Del Valle.
