I mean....the ducktales reboot KINDA did the same thing but at least in that one it was cause he was in universe an actor on. Show that long ended and it was meta humor about nostalgia done right.


They really should have asked the same crew who worked on ducktales 2017 to work on a dark wing reboot and not the sour, broken sadsacks and dangerhairs who no doubt pitched darkwing....but then again not even the original creators are immune to this just look at the rebootcess debacle, it WAS pitched by the original recess creators.

At first I though no way the guy who did the art on kravens last hunt and the original (albeit short) alien costume saga? (In the comics not tas storyline) but that was apparently Mike zeck. Zeb wells only good work was venom and Electra work back in the long gone days of the 2000s and maybe the symbiote spiderman mini series (the best reviews about them call them mediocre at best)

4 years ago as of this post mrenter reviewed this episode of sabrina the animated series. I wonder how many if any mills/xer's he burned with that review cause sabrina tas is...it's not as big a sacred cow of animation from 99 as say spongebob ir family guy, nor is as much a classic as the Melissa Joan heart sitcom is, but it is somewhat remembered fondly by said audience.


Really he should have reviewed the "sequel" series secret life. Recast voice, cheaper animation (what with daddy Disney and his deep pockets now gone) amd apparently secret life was even more heavy handed with its aseops than tas was. Apparently secret life is one mill/xers will gladly pretend doesn't exist it was that lame.

Apparently, this recent DWD pitch came about because there had already been a pitch for a Darkwing spinoff from the recent Ducktales series but nobody wanted it due to DT2017 getting cancelled. That Darkwing Duck pitch hewed a bit closer to the original but it's filled with schmaltz about found families and not-so-veiled contempt for the original series. I mean, I'm not a Disney Afternoon show fan, but at least on Darkwing Duck they still allowed the animators to get creative. Using "broad slapstick comedy” as a criticism of the original reveals the sort of contempt the average hacks in charge of writing for modern animated series have for animators. The writers are the REAL stars, you see so forget about the "animation", people watch animated series primarily for hilarious topical writing about Millennial parenting and strong female characters coming into their own as #girlbosses who stand in power.
