I loved Foster's as a kid, watching it again as an adult is embarrassing and irritating. There's SO much screaming, and everyone is an unlikable asshole. It's a great concept for a series, the characters are interesting, the designs are whimsical, the art style is fun...but the fucking screaming and meanness is just so fucking unbearable. Zero rewatch value.

He definitely had more influence from Zuckerberg than musk at the time. Musk wasn't as well known, wasn't even the ceo of Twitter till long after the series ended. Reboot tails was the last of the "good" nostalgia driven reboots. The ones that were actually decent to ok. Thundercats 2011, (NOT roar) hey arnold the jungle movie, Zim enter the florpus. Reboots for western animation at least used to have potential and didn't always make the masses groan. Speaking of which.

Yup Frankie you definitely have the look of an actually fragile mallet who'd say something like that. A look that ten years ago would have made a stupid, overly happy, soy face grin when you got your nintendo switch and probably made one again for the switch 2 at launch.

So gosylan is a spic now who cares? Seeing these changes here in 2025 really does feel like last dying gasps by a movement who's days are numbered because nobody cares about this garbage anymore. At least not enough to tune in and give people like him validation and attention.

More insight and good "progressive " thinking from the people injecting and infecting themselves into western animation. They darkened her feathers a bit changed her into a beaner all cause "those poor brown migrants evil orange man is sending to alligator alcatraz."

This show would never survive current year watchers simply on the basis that people (read: youtube video essayists) would begin questioning the world building of the show. Like were there imaginary friends during world war 2? Can imaginary friends die of old age? Is it legal to kill imaginary friends or are they more like a pet? Can imaginary friends breed or cross breed? Can a kid just make new imaginary friends on the spot and kill them for sustenance indefinitely? Can imaginary friends practice religion so when they die, they'll meet their respective god?

This is a show that definitely didn't held up as well compared to other big hitters on CN, but it's probably one of the more thunk provoking over how horrifying you can push the concept of it.

it also put the final nail in the Rickroll coffin by doing it at the Macys Parade (with Rick Astley appearing)

It's definitely one of those cartoons where you're supposed to just take the premise for what it is, and like you pointed out, that doesn't really work in current media anymore thanks to fandoms demanding every work has some kind of "lore."

I watched Kpop Demon Hunters a couple days ago and it was much better than I expected. Kpop isn't even my thing , it's always an insta-skip on my playlist but those songs slapped. The production was so good and I wouldn't mind a follow up of any kind. It is pretty likely since the OST is actually charting on Billboard. Disney could never .......

It should have ended with Jack never returning to the Past - but he wins in the Present because he had inspired so much resistance to Aku. A Coalition of The Good beats the big baddie. There was a whiff of that near the end but they subvert it for some reason by making all his allies' help blatantly useless, even though every single episode of the series is about him defending and liberating small pockets of people from Aku. A real shit message. Instead of 'you can't go back, but you've improved the future, plus you get to fuck', we get 'you get to go back, but lose everything in the process, plus you're celibate again.'

I feel like you'd have to have concrete answers to some of those, at least in passing. That's how Fairly Odd Parents worked, they had fairies but they also had rules so the fairies weren't OP. For imaginary friends, they could fade over time as they're neglected since children usually abandon/outgrow their imaginary friends by adulthood. Then since adults don't have as much imagination, adults can't make imaginary friends. Teenagers can make them, but usually only super lonely or messed up teenagers make them, which is why they're so dangerous and fighty like in the original show.
Plus, if neglected imaginary friends fade away and stop existing, that's a good reason for them to go to Foster's; so they're interacted with and don't fade away, and can be adopted by a new kid who might need them.
And I don't think any imaginary friend should be edible, breedable, or capable of hurting a person. That's too close to the Froopyland episode of Rick and Morty for my taste. It's still a kid's show, so even if you COULD push the concept, it'd have to be some kind of lampshade hanging or just never addressed. Jesus Was Not A Wizard and all that.

The concept of an imaginary friend of this nature is referenced once, though not discussed. A short comic in Cartoon Network Block Party #31 shows a kid who imagined a nicer, hotter version of Frankie being forced to give her up for adoption because she upsets his parents. I don't know why they wrote this, because it would seem to suggest that it is in fact possible (if only for certain precocious adolescents) to imagine a living, breathing sex doll into reality. This seems like the sort of thing that a writer's room would want to avoid.

Edit: Despite appearing in order when I try to edit, the thumbnails of the comic below seem to be out of order. I don't think I can change this; you guys should be able to figure it out.

I see what you mean, that being said this was a time when actual professional were a major part of the industry. It's also not explicit enough to be that crazy, think about seeing it if you're like 12, all the guys just like her from that perspective and she's super girly. The implication could go there but it would have to be brought to that place.

Into The Spiderverse kickstarted the trend. Choppy framerates has been a thing for some time but ITS was the catalyst that exploded it beyond recognition around the early 2020s. Some movie studios (most notably Dreamworks) began adopting it and that a bunch of quirky animators/game developers began relying on it to make their animations look cooler or whatever. Which they do, by the way. Sometimes choppy can be as interesting to see visually as buttery smooth Disney animations.
