I was about to say the exact same thing.

The community features post should be edited to say 2010 Micronauts-- I almost started the torrent before I peeked at one of the videos. I was expecting some awesome 80's Sunbow type animation not that niggerfied CalArts style shit. *sigh*

I can also testify the the Micronaughts and ROM comics were surprisingly awesome.

  • Rebecca "Becky" Cunningham, a brown bear and a single mother who owns Higher for Hire and The Sea Duck who is a workaholic that aims to earn the most money to support her family and the business and has to keep up with Baloo's shenanigans, voiced by Sally Struthers
Fun fact: she was also partly based on Rebecca Howe, the character Kirstie Alley played on Cheers.
Honestly, I’m actually hoping that Darkwing fails just so they cancel plans for everything else.
This. I have fond memories of all those Disney Afternoon shows even if I was (at least nominally) an adult at the time.
I didn't know there were ducks that had "skin colour".
Well they weren't ducks, but the Beagle Boys were black-coded (this is a joke).

Prff, who the fuck made this "Ren and Stimpy Adult party" looking nonsens- GENNDY TARTAKOVSKY?!?!

the guy that made Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Symbiotic Titan and Primal?!
Thats like having Martin Scorsese to do a fucking MCU movie!

Apparently this is a passion project he had since 2009 and boy, it does seem like its a time capsule of the late 2000's comedy, the bad kind. Not only that but its coming out after people got generally fed up with the vulgar runchy adult comedy animation trend of the late 2010's.

Watch as companies will use this flop as an example as to why hand drawn animation will remain dead.

The Beagle Boys were clearly coded as the Damn Dirty Irish!

I think SONY Broke his soul when they cancelled his Popeye movie in favor of the fucking Emoji movie.

I understand a pilot, or 5, maybe 10-12 episodes on an unpromising show that the higher-ups didn't want to even recoup some losses on due to some personal grievance or copyright problem, but 52 whole episodes, 2 seasons, do we know the reason why this was thrown in the vault?
I was thinking the same thing and did a little digging,

Boulder Media, which was then a subsidiary of Hasbro Studios, first began to develop an animated Micronauts series in 2018. However, in 2020, Entertainment One took over Hasbro's production wing, before it was sold to Lionsgate in 2023.
Rogers is also the creator of Angry Birds Mystery Island and Skylanders Academy and has written for other animated series like Futurama and Teen Titans Go!.

This isn't much to go on but i'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is one of those intellectual properties they have with a huge amount of nostalgia in the older millenial/gen x demographic that grew up in the 80s. Scraping the bottom of the 80's nostalgia barrel for obscure things was what everybody was doing circa 2018 because you could double dip by selling toys to kids and 35 year old manchildren, but covid changed what people were interested in. This looks to be a classic example of executives doing the math on if something is profitable and then realizing they wasted a lot of money on something that wouldn't sell anymore. hasbro is hyper-aggressive when it comes to chasing trends and now that its 2025 in hindsight it was probably smart to not lean into throwback 80s nostaliga that late. It's hasbro, they sell toys, not television shows - nobody was gonna buy this stuff.

Am I allowed to watch Bojack Horseman, or is that on the "we will lynch you" list with Rick & Morty, Steven Universe and Horse Show?

You can, it's a fine show but its not the flawless masterpiece youtubers and redditors pretend it is. A lot of the enjoyment is dependent on how much you can tolerate the questionable actions of Bojack and others (and prepare to hate Diane, she works for Buzzfeed at one point).

But among modern adult cartoons, it's one of the few that legit has merit so it's worth a least a watch, even if you don't finish it all the way.

He just does comedy slop to pay the bills. Adult Swim let him make the last two passion products he had, Primal and Unicorn Warriors Eternal. Primal was pretty good until the very end of S2 and Unicorn was never actually all that good but was apparently an idea he had for years and years.

You should probably want Genndy's comedy slop to succeed so he can make more passion products that will start great and end terribly.

Got to see the kpop animated recently, did not completely hate it, but the choppy framerate is real weird. When did that become a trend? I think I've seen it in at least one video game too 🤔

Since the first Spiderverse that low framerate style of animation has become the new trend that studios are hoping on for animated films(See: Puss and Boots: Last Wish, Bad Guys, that new TMNT flick, etc).

Anybody else remember this music video?

I tolerated them just fine myself, yet what got me to stop watching was them just over and over and over again beating the dead horse that he’s a bad dude around 4 or 5 seasons in.

It was very, very clear they thought too much of the audience liked someone you’re not supposed to like, so they had to make him worse. R&M suffered from the exact same issue around S3, annoyingly.

This is so 2010-2011 that the hurt from it is one of longing to return, good god western animation really did aesthetically peak at that point didn't it

Watch whatever you want its making the show one of the major facets of your personality that will draw people's attention.
