Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

New king of the Hill is pretty good, i think the new dale voice actor does a good enough job and him and im glad they didn't kill the character off on account of johnny hardwick dying. Also keith david voices a new alley character for some reason which was cool to see. It definitely doesn't shit on the original at all, quite enjoybale stuff - dale and joseph are the best characters by far.
My family started watching it earlier tonight, we only got a few episodes in but it's actually really sweet, I'm so relieved they aren't shitting all over the original. Dale's voice bugs me, but that's really my biggest complaint. I just keep telling myself it's because of his years of smoking.
Honestly, Joseph rolling himself into a trash bag to avoid being caught spying on that guy was fucking hilarious and easily the biggest laugh I had. I can't wait to finish the season. I still want to go frame-by-frame in the new theme song and see what all the details are.

I am a few episodes in and so far the only thing that's taking some getting used to is the animation. It is super weird going from the hand drawn/cel-animated original to this cheaper digital version, but, looking back OG King of the Hill was probably pretty cheap by late 90s standards.

They have Dale's writing down perfect but his new voice is going to take some time to settle in, it is very difficult to replicate the strange mannerisms and intonation of original Dale's cigarette fried voice. New guy is doing an admirable job of it. I was a little surprised that Bill immediately got back on his feet after the first episode but honestly he's been through enough, I think they didn't want to have to deal with that for the entire season. Keith David is also great.

so in 1998 they tried to reboot Popeye.

They established in the original run that Bill tries hard to be his best to keep Hank from being disappointed in him, so him bouncing back to his usual level of pathetic loser so quick when Hank returned is pretty on-brand for him.

So I saw Fixed.

The animation itself is great, but honestly I'm going to forget about the film soon. I'm happy Genndy got to make his dream movie though

But as I said last post, for all the people bitching about "muh dramatic animation" and you didn't support Anomalisa you have no fucking right to complain about the state of adult animation.

Genndy has just wanted to make a Popeye movie for the last 10 years and no one will let him. But he makes an honest to god traditionally animated adult movie and no one wants to see it.

Loving Vincent lost to Coco at the Oscars, Adi Shankar will continue to get work, Rick and Morty is still running while Ballmastrz and Tigtone got cancelled. Animation fans aren't kids anymore, the market is what we make. And this market sucks.

Double post sorry:

The only salvagable part of that is the Face to Face punk cover of the Popeye theme which was actually released on a CD back in the day
Turns out tons of bands did covers of old cartoon themes like that. It was pretty big back in the day and I think it was part of the new wave of animation that came with Ren and Stimpy and later adult swim remixing Sealab, Space Ghost, and Birdman.

and part of that is because a majority of western animation fans are people with a severe case of arrested development and severely unhinged psycho cunts (believe it or not those two aren't mutually exclusive)

Pixar films were pretty much guaranteed Oscars until recently. Who cares? They're fucking rigged.
Adi Shankar has a rich daddy who pays to insert him into things. Apparently he's been blacklisted from various places for his diva antics but that's just hearsay.
"The Simpsons 3" (or, "Futurama 2: FamilyGuyrama") continues to run, much to no-one's surprise.
TV-Networks are fucking clueless, surprise!

Wanna feel your own mortality? That album was made in the 90s as an homage to the Saturday morning cartoons of the 60s to 30 odd years ago at the time.

If a version of that album was made today, it would have covers of themes from when the original was new. Imagine covers of the spongebob theme, the ed edd n eddy theme, where on earth is carmen sandiego, magic school bus, and so on. With one token modern theme song cover thrown in.

Oh dear Lord, I just realized something:

Comic-cons are going to get so much worse thanks to the return of under-18s poorly cosplaying as the characters, especially the trolls.

The visions of a shared communal bucket filled with spit and walls smeared with unsealed grey body paint flood the mind like an unholy nightmare once more.
:cryblood:
My local con actually banned homestuck cosplayers because of the bodypaint getting everywhere
