Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Is it? I thought the teaser was setting up an anti-ai stance since right after the ChatGPT line, we get an advertisement from a company with the initials 'AI' (Authentic Imitations) that focuses on weirdly rendered turtles whose hands keep on changing and the Turtles want to stop this.
It's likely because the villain's going to be chromedome, or some similar robot being or robot maker.
The hands aren't constantly changing in the ad, the joke is they have a normal amount of fingers as opposed to 3 because they're live action he-man figures with badly sculpted turtle heads to emulate shit like turly gang.

In fact I am 100% sure the bootlegs are a reference to turly gang specifically.

My statements about "our friend power 5" was because this is clearly going to have a robot in it and "our friend power 5" is a korean tokusatsu movie made to promote a bootleg go bots combiner with downscaled tmnt figures as it's pilots.

...No, I think Voltron just got bad irrespective of who it was aimed at. It didn't know where the hell it was going and started flailing wildly and committing all kinds of unforced errors.

You know, something I noticed about Knights of Guinevere is that almost every piece of fanwork of this series is about Princess Guinevere. She is literally the character that the fandom, and the general public, likes and cares about the most.
To be fair, the princess has the closest thing to an appealing design. I know that's on purpose, she's designed to be marketable in universe, but it helps that she's a broken robot that wants to be with humanity. People love that.

A pathetic attempt to get back into people's good graces after the AI controversy.

God I hate how cartoons are desperately referencing "modern concepts." First it was "influencer smurf" in that smurfs trailer now this.
Trying to be relevant, or "write what you know" work by people who don't know anything? Little column A, little column B?

I actually really like Haunted Hotel. I'm glad I gave it a chance because I was going to write it off as Netflix Rick and Morty slop.

As the resident Adventure Time guy, I guess it is my duty to inform the thread of Fiona & Cake season 2

Please be good. Adventure Time has been doing well so far with its revivals being respectful and great returns, but I always fret every go round that this will be the one to wreck it.

At the very least, glad to see Finn and Huntress Wizard getting some more spotlight.

Just let Adventure Time die already for the love of God the show had four good seasons and the rest was pseudo intellectual stoner drivel with characters being sad over relationships instead of a funny action adventure show for boys.

EVERYBODY QUIT YER BITCHIN' AND START TALKING ABOUT PRIMAL SEASON 3

FUCK YEAH MORE PULP, HOPEFULLY SOMEONE ON THE PRODUCTION TEAM CAN KEEP GENNDY FROM MAKING ANOTHER LAME TWIST ENDING
Spear returning as a zombie is something I did not expect, but I welcome it wholeheartedly. Primal just wouldn't be the same with anyone from its iconic duo missing.

I remember hearing rumors a few years ago about season 3 being an anthology series similar to the Primal Theory episode, but even if they were true, I'm glad they're not doing this. Zombie Spear is just way cooler.

Fighting games? About a dead series?
An idea which was better in fucking 2010?!
My sides, man. Can't even leave Avatar alone?
The funniest thing about Avatar is that it was never a major success for Nickelodeon. During its original run, it was easily overshadowed by shows like The Fairly OddParents, and even Invader Zim—which was canceled early—ended up turning a profit later thanks to its cult following and Hot Topic merchandise. In contrast, Avatar has never really justified the intense promotion it’s received in recent years. The Legend of Korra saw a steep decline in viewership after its first season, the video game adaptation was a commercial failure, and the comics have suffered from inconsistent art and weak storytelling despite multiple relaunches. Even the free-to-play game was a disaster from the start. Licensed fighting games rarely attract large audiences, especially 2D ones that demand serious technical skill, and it’s doubtful that Avatar fans are genuinely interested in that genre beyond wanting to see their favorite characters on screen.

The first episode dropped.
>anime
>clearly westernized anime "inspired" art style, obviously drawn in the West.

It's so pathetic that western animation is so unpopular that they're trying to leech off of anime by calling western animation anime. Netflix did the same thing with the Tomb Raider cartoon and that pajeet's shitty cartoons.

They never learn.

looking at this makes me realize I'm both more, and less racist than I thought I was.

one one hand, I hate seeing brown people in anything, especially anime brown people made by not japan.
on the other, as much as I don't like anime, it's their own home grown style, seeing a bastardized rendition done poorly
feels more insulting than any slur. if anything that shit above cheapens the medium to a shitty meme punchline.

western anime is a shittier version of black face for anime.
it takes the worst aspects of east and west, and expects to be applauded for mashing shit and piss together (Brown people, and Japanese culture)

The first episode dropped.
Why do the main characters look like ai/tenmu versions of amity and luz? I'm inclined to belive this shit was ai generated by feeding an ai owl house, duo lingo and animie clichés to see what it could spit out.
I know that's on purpose, she's designed to be marketable in universe
Gee it's almost like when you follow the fucking rules of animation and design, your characters won't make the viewers want to barf and gouge their eyes out at the same time.

Hey guys. I've returned once again to cope and sneed. Consider this Part 2.5 of my series of posts on Latin American animation.

Part 1: Cartoon Network: The cousins south of the border.
Corrections: You can find the Leyendas movies and show as Legend Quest in Netflix iirc.

Part 2: Little victories.
Corrections: Frankelda takes place in Mineral del Monte, which is the nickname of the real life Real del Monte since it was founded as a mining settlement. The studio behind it is called Cinema Fantasma, not Estudio Fantasma. I realized my mistakes too late.4

ÑÑÑÑ

So, why am I coping about today? Well, the game is rigged. This post is specifically about Soy Frankelda. I think the motherfucking producers want this thing to tank tbh and I came here to bitch about it because I want to jinx my prediction. So, this movie's entire ad campaign was through word of mouth by fans and for most of the year the only things they had were stills and positive word of mouth in festivals. They released the one and only trailer and poster about a month due to release (October 23) and I think they got that date because they are fully expecting to only get the mandatory two weeks that extend to Halloween and Day of the Dead.

So, I was expecting this to go direct to streaming because it makes sense. It's a continuation (more like a recontextualization) of a 3 year old show that is fully available in HBO Max. But they wanted the (probably limited) theatre run, I assume for prestige. I used what little free time I've nowadays to check if the cinema chain that is supposed to have the exclusive rights for screenings at least is promoting it and guess what? They have one poster... hidden behind the bigger posters for Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man. Well, to make matters worse Paranorman gets a re-release the same fucking week because Laika doesn't bomb hard enough I guess. They actually promoted it earlier because they still have some money left. Chances are most people that would watch stop-motion movies would go for the sure bet especially due to nostalgia. Not even mentioning stop-motion has struggled more for an audience. Del Toro's Frankenstein gets its own limited run this Friday. Fucking Del Toro, who even so called animation fans won't shut up helped Cinema Fantasma when he himself has said all he did was point them towards funding.

So, most people aren't optimistic even without half the exposition I just gave you. Because Mexicans apparently showed up in droves for Flow and Memoir of a Snail, and even then everyone isn't optimistic. Both of those movies got international releases, both had normal ad campaigns. At least Flow was good. I consider Memoir to be a rethread of Mary and Max that knows the audience doesn't pay attention. Besides, Mexicans may be massive consoomers but they consoom tripe. There's an entire joke that Mexican indie films are in an everlasting golden age and the country is not the wiser.

Oh, but if the movie is good people will see it. Transformers One, you want to go the route of Transformes One. You want to be fondly remembered as the movie that was so good people didn't bother to pay to see it. How many great movies, especially animated ones didn't bomb at the box office? This movie has "cult classic" tattooed in its forehead and is like everyone just accepted it before it even premiered.

I love screaming at walls. No one in this thread had the power to save that movie or show they loved, to give it the audience it deserved. Everything I've written in this thread since my return is shit that has tormented me for wanting to be an animator. But I'll do it anyway, because I want to. I want to be wrong but if I'm right, I write.

Your soul is ink. Write your story.
