Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I stumbled upon some shorts about Funny Face, an old product from the 60's. They were made by Renegade in the late 2000's, and it seems that Funny Face was trying to get a reboot. Two of the shorts were absolute gems. One of them was about racism (connecting to the brand's roots, I suppose), and the other had the strawberry project that the cherry is autistic.

Rest of the shorts can be found in this playlist:

Not sure if I can fully post about this here, but we just lost an R-Rated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.

Neal H. Moritz, the veteran producer behind The Fast and the Furious franchise, is in negotiations to take on the job of restarting TMNT as a live-action film franchise for Paramount Pictures. Toby Ascher, who works with Moritz at their Original Films banner, will also act as a producer.

The move occurs as the Skydance-owned studio is taking a magnifying glass to its slate and existing IP. As opposed to some other titles, namely Transformers or G.I. Joe, Paramount fully owns the TMNT brand, having picked it up from co-creator Peter Laird in 2009, and is seeking to fully unlock its potential.
There hasn’t been a live-action (or live-action/CG animation hybrid) feature since the mid-2010s, when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows bombed at the box office, stopping the film franchise in its tracks. The studio pivoted to animation and instead made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, released in 2023 to great critical acclaim.

New Paramount has already been shaking up TMNT and its TV media division, and recently put Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a spinoff of Mutant Mayhem, down the sewer, shutting down the series in the middle of production earlier this fall. “This is not the vision the owners want,” was the reason given to those working on the show. Showrunner Christopher Yost confirmed the cancellation on Threads, saying “the upcoming episodes of Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will sadly be the last. Luckily, they’re our best episodes yet.”

At the same time, The Last Ronin, another TMNT live-action/CG animation hybrid project that was in development, has been put back in the pizza box, according to sources. That project was being developed as an R-rated feature, and had Nobody filmmaker Ilya Naishuller in talks to direct, but the new regime wasn’t keen on having the first non-animated movie in 10 years be a bloody, adult-skewing story. One insider says the studio wants to leave the door open to possibly revisit it down the road.

The sequel to Mutant Mayhem, being produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and directed by Jeff Rowe, is still set for a Sept. 17, 2027 release.

Multiple sources say Paramount wants to “Sonic-fy” the TMNT franchise. Sonic the Hedgehog is a three-movie (and counting) hit franchise for Paramount that is based on the popular Sega video game. The movies are live-action/hybrids and play very well to the all-ages, four-quadrant crowd and have become a $1 billion-plus franchise for the studio. And they happen to be produced by Moritz.

“If you want Sonic, you go to the guy who did Sonic,” said one insider.

TLDR: Paramount was developing a live-action Last Ronin adaptation that was set to be R-Rated, but is now fully cancelled, alongside the cancellation of the Mutant Mayhem spin-off series. They are now trying to move the TMNT franchise in the direction of the Sonic Movie series as new heads take over.

Holy shit someone at the grocery store has a Loud House shirt and it's some random frumpy hispanic gal and not some obvious turboperv

  • absolutely no AI
  • a 'living wage' in California
  • no utsourcing at all
  • absolutely no cancellations of animated works
  • automatic greenlighting of animated works
  • more diversity in animation
  • absolute preservation of animated material
  • let animation unions run everything
  • more advertising of animation?
They want a consistent good paying job, but they fail to realize that they have burnt too many bridges after acting like entitled spoiled brats for decades

Sure that is what the average animation drone wants. But their retarded union reps want to have all the control of the industry without having any of the consequences for the shows they are working on.

Though these absurd terms are probably just them setting the bar high so they can lower it in negotiations to appear benevolent and "willing to compromise". That only works when your terms are not completely batshit insane of course, which these terms are, so you can disguise what your doing to the other party.

Exploding Kittens was so bad it gave me cancer AIDS.
I looked up the show on YouTube and now wish I hadn't. What in world? It's like if r/Atheism and Seth MacFarlane to make a show worse than anything imaginable for man-child millennials. Rubbish!

Those who brought up the Incredibles, the more time goes on, the more I believe it's truly the best Pixar film and one of the best superhero movies of all time. It really is the best Fantastic 4 film we never got. Syndrome might be the best animated villain with Tighten a close second, the man is prime example of what jealousy of others will do.

What I appreciate the most is Bob, aka Mr Incredible, is both right and wrong given on one hand is abit of a glory hound wanting the "Good ol Days," back and tries to be a one man army, yet on another is a man whose righteously angry at the moral depravity of his insurance company and his weasel of a boss and the actions of Syndrome.

Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl 3 Roster
Another one? After nobody gave them good faith with ASB 2 they're going for a third? Though to be fair much like the kart racers series these games seem to improve with each entry. (or at the very least they adress things people complained about) Maybe 3 will be the equivalent of smash brawl complete with a fully animated story.

New Sillypoo video dropped

I accidentally posted this a couple minutes ago on the jeet thread had my tabs mixed up :story:

Posting this here because the English sub and dub for this aren't available in America right now; had to encode my own subs just to watch it.

Also because this movie ain't half bad. @Blue Gem Kosher Queen wrote a little blurb about it last month, and I'd say that was really underselling it. This movie deserves at least more than its status as an obscure cult classic.

Ana y Bruno is a 3D animated feature film that follows the story of Ana and her mother being taken to a psychiatric hospital, where the little girl soon meets a variety of strange creatures, all made manifest from the mental neuroses and disorders of the facility's residents. Despite its director's pedigree, critical acclaim, and a 104m peso budget, one of the biggest so far for a Mexican animated film, it bombed in Mexico for being too weird for domestic audiences. Kinda weird it never got an international release, English speaking territories love weird little cartoons like these.

Against my will I found out what’s going on with The Loud House these days.

I remember when this was just some fairly down to earth, slice of life cartoon. What the hell happened??
