I recently rewatched it and man is Bojack Horseman a strange poorly aged show in 2025.

It's super obvious it was written during the most deranged and psychotic lows of the #metoo movement because man some of it almost seems schizophrenic.

I think my favorite is near the end when Bojack is doing that interview with the rabbit lady and he attempts to defend himself by saying that every women he slept with was over 18 and consented to the sex.

And then the rabbit lady screeches out

"YOU THINK THAT MAKES IT OK?"

Uh, yea? What do the writers think consensual sex is?

And oh man the less said about Diane the better, only in 2014 could someone that sociopathic be portrayed as a plucky underdog victim who dindunuffin.

Diane ruined just as many lives if not more than Bojangles with much less of an excuse and was given a happy ending.

Still don't understand how anyone ever liked that show, only the most insufferable people I know recommended it to me so I knew to stay away from it.

I'm not sure who would be interested in watching an animated Maus these days. There are countless stories, many of them already adapted, that tell about how bad it was to live in a concentration camp, how eeevil nazis were, etc, etc.
They'd look at actual Nazis and complain that they said anti-Semitic things, or act amazed they weren't Donald Trump.
And if you dare criticize it those same people will tell you that you just don't "get it".
It's called media literacy, chud. Try and be a better person next time.

They reduce! They reuse! They recycle! They shit out slop and act like arbiters of culture!
What's also funny is how these people get mad af when you say the reduce and reuse parts are more important than the recycle part if we're talking about environmentalism. They legit are allergic to making money so much they hate when someone says reusing plastic straws and bottles and takeout containers objectively helps the environment more than recycling them does simply because it saves money as well as the environment. It's why I pirate anything I find interesting now. Don't want to make them sick after all.

Anyway. It might be mostly a bunch of propaganda gobbledegook, but this show was pretty fun regardless.

I always thought Captain Planet was for queers but the animation is cool.

Makes me wanna invest in more nuclear energy just as a middle finger to the Blackrock fuck that funded that show.

Im amazed bith rates haven't totally collapsed with how bad meetoo got. I wish to remind you all that that era lead to the creation of terms like "stare rape." And made young men afraid to even LOOK at women.

But to stay focused. Is it any wonder one of the writers on bojack would go on to create the trash fire that was tucca and bertie?

The funniest part about that to me was that they're literally slut shaming Bojack, when they're in favor of women being sluts.

Again tucca and bestie.

Pastry Pete being a womanizing man in power (and having very trump like hair and features) played as the antagonist and rapist.

The jigaboo voiced tucan who's clearly meant to be a porch monkey? Oh no she's such an empowering and liberated woman that we celebrate her right to be a slut, let's litteraly have an episode named sex bugs about her bragging about her stds.

That scene made no damn sense, because Bojack is a terrible person, but of all the things to explicitly call him out on, the mouse girl just goes after him having consensual hookups for a cheap and easy narrative painting him as a groomer for having a type in women, with the whole 17 minutes thing just coming across as ammo she can use rather than a seriously bad thing she actually cares about.

The official trailer for that Animal Farm remake starring Seth Rogan dropped… it is far, far worse than I think you could have ever hoped:

View attachment 8279469

TL;DW:
-Grand adventure
-Marvel Humor
-Capitalism and Orange Man bad

directed by Andy Serkis :lossmanjack:

Andy has done so much cool shit, don't tell me he's responsible for this fucking abomination man

that trailer literally has the vibe of one of those AI-generated Pixar parodies

maybe if we all meme really hard we can get them to shit it up even more, like how Snakes On A Plane went from PG-13 to R in post

It's pretty okay. Could have done without the romance subplot but the characters are charming and the story has this really nice feel good plot line to it.
I'm going to disagree. I think the romance subplot was necessary for show how Jesper was settling into a good life on Smeerensburg by accident. That's why his father coming to pick him up back to home was so devastating. He had everything ready for the future: a job he found meaningful, good friends, a peaceful town and yes a family of his own on the way. While the movie is mostly about his and Klaus's friendship how that affects everything, the other characters and relationships serve important purposes to show how much Jasper has grown in a great man from a lazy and selfish manchild.

I think that seeing him assimilate into the town and make friends while cozying into a new location could have worked just as well is all. The romance subplot isn't bad or anything, I think it's fairly well done, I'm just so burnt out on romance subplots that even good ones done well make me tune out slightly.

I get what you're saying but romance just implies permanency and maturity in a way that friendship doesn't. Especially when the movie is very open about that Klaus and Jesper are very different ages and different places in their life. They both improve eachother but what they have can't last simply because of time and Jesper needed life after Klaus to show that improvement was permanent.

Guys, Angel is just the distributor, they had nothing to do with this abortion. The culprit is Imaginarium Studios.

What else have they done?

Angel will pretty much pick up anything at this point now that they entered the distributor game. Someone there I don't think has been paying attention to the slop they're picking up, and if they're smart, they'll just quietly throw it up on their services without fanfare, or do the right thing and pull it.
How the fuck do you go from The Ritual to this?????

How the fuck do you go from The Ritual to this?????
Part of me wants to belive it's a result of their Mormon roots coupled with all the conservative content they distributed when they started that they picked up distribution of animal farm to say "see we're not like daily wire plus or bentkey! We accept everyone and anyone's content!" But that's just speculation on my part. I doubt the videos on the so called "anti woke toons' on youtube scared angel THAT much that they'd be willing to work with the likes of Rogan and his entourage of champagne socialists.
