Those poor mass human-sacrificing slave empiresIf you thought Avatar's message is outdated, some woketards don't believe so and instead double down. The way some works push the fucking Aztecs as poor misunderstood noble savages is hilariously sad. These include both the Batman Aztec drivel movie, and the Mutants and Masterminds Time Traveller sourcebook. I'm sure there are more examples.
But the wokies don't defend Avatar, unlike the some other movies we might think of.If you thought Avatar's message is outdated, some woketards don't believe so and instead double down. That's why I saw it in IMAX 3D, because that was the only real reason to see it. The story was a really retarded "White Man's Burden," had a white savior teaching the blue whatever the fuck they were how to be better natives, and on top of that, they were fugly.Honestly, the first one was more popular for the fact it was so mind-blowing to visually watch. The new 3D technology at the time that actually worked, the jaw-dropping beauty of Pandora, and if you saw it in IMAX, Jesus Christ it was an experience.
They missed a perfect opportunity to announce "Santa's Sleigh is go!"Thunderbirds - Give Or Take A Million
kind of sucks, there's a decent story about a bank heist but it's not like Santa calls International Rescue.
I know jack shit about Avatar, but isn't the whole reason why humans want to colonize Planet Smurf because Earth is dying? And they act like we're supposed to hate them?Says a lot people favor normal talking animals over humanoid feline mutants destroying humanity.
"Is that a spatula in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?"
Not even colonize, just strip mine. The planet has near limitless amounts of a rare element that basically all Earth technology is reliant upon.I know jack shit about Avatar, but isn't the whole reason why humans want to colonize Planet Smurf because Earth is dying? Honestly, the first one was more popular for the fact it was so mind-blowing to visually watch. The new 3D technology at the time that actually worked, the jaw-dropping beauty of Pandora, and if you saw it in IMAX, Jesus Christ it was an experience. It was a spectacle. Nobody cared about the actual story, but if you did pay attention it was just Dances With Wolves, which is already a popular "nature good" story and an easy win.
There's also the much simpler and overarching fact that Avatar just plain isn't good and never has been. The first movie was forgettable but inoffensive at best and the second one mostly just confused people. Plus this third one is coming out within such a short time span following the second movie that was met with a resounding "meh" from critics and audiences.
It's not DWW, it's actually Fern Gully.A lot of people compare it with "Dances With Wolves" but it is way worse.
Remember how the fucking mineral was called "Unobtainium?"Not even colonize, just strip mine. The planet has near limitless amounts of a rare element that basically all Earth technology is reliant upon.
Truthfully? That's probably my favorite thing in the movie because of just how unbelievably blunt it is.Remember how the fucking mineral was called "Unobtainium?"
I remember when that came out, my family must have saw it twice at the theater and 4 times at home, all in the span of a few months.I remember watching the original movie on IMAX, it wasn't the first 3D movie I had seen at the time. Perhaps it is my cynical ass talking here but for me 3D nor VR has ever added anything to the enjoyment of an experience. If the story is good and compelling I'll much rather watch it in a regular flat display.
I was also a very avid gamer, perhaps that's reason why I didn't find the SFX in Avatar that shocking or "earth shattering" as it was for a regular movie goer. It was the era of the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and game visuals were starting to touch upon photorealism and diminishing returns. Point being, I was paying attention to the story and was not being that distracted by the visuals. By the time I left the theater and let the ending sink in, I knew it was a movie that bamboozle the audience to cheer for the wrong side.
A lot of people compare it with "Dances With Wolves" but it is way worse. At least in DWW it is alluded with its melancholic final scene that it was telling the story of how the way of life of the primitive people of the American plains was coming to an end. It was a clash with a more advanced civilizations which was not going to stop nor turn back. Avatar somehow wants to convince us that the primitives granted all the biological advantages gifted to them by their planet's "Goddess" is going to continuously and successfully defeat and repel a technologically advanced space faring race because of plot armor. It is condescending and boring, that's is the entire franchise. The multi-million Dollar equivalent of jangling key chains for normies that continue to attend in droves to the movie theater to watch this mindless dribble, except even now they are starting to notice.
Shiny SFX aren't holding the attention of people in 2025 as these did in 2009, much less for 3 fucking hours with such a paper thin plot. If Cameron had any balls left it would actually do a proper story and show the Navi for what they are: pawns at the mercy of the Eywa Overmind that have kept them as primitives for millennia just to ensure they are never a threat and to ensure its own dominion over the entire planet. The arrival of humanity to Pandora would be the first domino that initiates a chain of events that would end the way of life of the Navi, but also signify their liberation from their invisible chains. But no, we are stuck with the tired leftard boomer allegory: "colonialism, capitalism, militarism le bad!!".
I hope by the time the last Avatar movie rolls out, the production cost is so elevated and people are so fed up with the franchise that it actually makes the studio lose money.
I remember watching it and not being impressed due to what's said above. In fact, I felt sad for the humies and mad at the blatant traitor. Even better, in the beginning there were signs showing that the savages were hostile and went out of the way to attack the "colonizers". In fact, the protagonist was almost shot dead before plot Deus Ex Machina saved his ass. I was sure that humanity would come back with marines and wipe the floor with the savages... But I don't think that's what happens in Av2. Nevermind 3.I was also a very avid gamer, perhaps that's reason why I didn't find the SFX in Avatar that shocking or "earth shattering" as it was for a regular movie goer. It was the era of the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and game visuals were starting to touch upon photorealism and diminishing returns. The most interesting thing about the Avatar movies is how successful and uninteresting they are simultaneously.
They basically color by numbers specifically for the Chinese audience. The most interesting thing about the Avatar movies is how successful and uninteresting they are simultaneously.
Is it though, the US Audience just eats up the box office. Or at least did for one and two. They basically color by numbers specifically for the Chinese audience.
