I completely forgot Mighty No. 9 Nein was a thing, let alone that the Critical Role stuff was being officially adapted. I've seen no discussion of it on the TL either despite this having high critic scores. It's kind of astounding how much crap can slip by unnoticed in the modern landscape.

CR has lost the majority of its audience especially with their third campaign being considered pretty mediocre by their fanbase.

All I've heard is twitter getting pissed that people keep thinking the chick that looks like femboy Skkka is a man.

Among holiday observations made during this time, the The Night the Grinch Stole Christmas film with Jim Carrey isn't the worst adaptation based on Dr. Suess's story only because the 2018 CGI trash-fest from Illumination was made.

That and it isn't as atrocious as the live-action Cat in the Hat film starring Mike Myers.

You know, the live-action film that's so atrocious it caused the Suess estate to ban any future live action adaptations of any Dr. Suess IP for the foreseeable future?

I happened to catch that on TV some years back, and it was a fever dream experience that online reviews didn't quite capture. I do appreciate the set-pieces and costume designs, though.

Makes me wonder if the upcoming animated film next year will be any worse? The trailer already showed that it has some of that ‘modern audience’ stink to it.

It's a genuinely well made movie, it's more that it's a Jim Carrey vehicle and if you don't like his work you're probably not going to enjoy to film. Plus the idea is silly if you really want to break it down. Time has been very kind to it in a way that it hasn't for Cat in the Hat.

Yeah, its a fine movie. Compared to the original chuck jones animated one it's still weaker but not bad. I'm not really a huge fan of the added fluff like the whole grinch backstory but considering what the filmmakers had to do in order to fill that 1hr+ runtime some padding was going to be added.

Agreed, it's also the source behind one of my favorite go-to responses to internet stupidity.
Too bad about the blatant Universal Studios adverts, I'll never not find that one in bad taste.

To be fair this isn't the first time some form of additional media has tried to expand the Grinch: Halloween is Grinch Night attempts to tie another holiday to him (this time it's one where he harasses the Whos) and The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat ties his behavior to him missing his dead mother.

This is part Nostalgia and part cope
