yeah I only remember the Snorks as the most bald-faced ripoff of the Smurfs possible
Hell, the first time I learned about them was in a Robot Chicken sketch where they went to war with the Smurfs.
50 years ago today, Garfield debuted under the comic strip "Jon".

If only the anniversary fell on a Monday...
The best episode of Garfield is the Garfield: His 9 Lives movie, which I will defend as legitimately good art.
Wasn't the original comic that movie was adapting the one Peter Griffin ranted about?
They should start rebooting weird TMNT clone/extremely specific gimmick team toons like Mummies Alive!
How many of those did they make? There was Street Sharks, Biker Mice from Mars, Road Rovers, Bucky O'Hare, Stone Protectors, Mighty Ducks, Cowboys of Moo Mesa, and what else?

Everyone talks about Life #7, which is great, don't get me wrong, but no. It's life #6, Diana's Piano, which is the true highlight of the special.

The Mary Blair-esque art style, the beautiful piano music, the surprisingly affecting story, just....*chef's kiss*. Some of the best 6 minutes of animation ever put to film

Some weird autist bought multiples to make a shared universe, and seemingly made one or two originals

My friends and I loved Mummies Alive, one of them even had a pair of shoes with the big guy on them.
So do I, I watched it religiously, but can not remember a single plot.

Theme song still rocks.

Hear me out: Extreme Mighty Max. Max is now an adult and has been selected to guide a new cap bearer 30 years later aka in the present day. Since Richard Moll and Tony Jay have both passed, we just say they were finally allowed to rest after the eventual defeat of Skull Master. Max takes the Virgil role, having grown up to be an archaeologist like his mother, and some other anonymous, ageless warrior from history takes over in the Norman role. Plot could revolve around another villain consolidating power in what was left of Skull Master's vacuum as well as standard monster of the week fare.

Surprisingly, mine liked that one. Ed, Edd n' Eddy was odd hated one, but I think it was just because they were seen as assholes, plus the Canadian humor didn't click.

Speaking about Billy & Mandy, I believe Maxwell Atoms said Billy was the main reason parents hated the show. Mandy and Grim were seen as fine.
aw i thought he was funny

Toonifictariq (a nigger cartoon reviewer known for talking about nigger related tv shows and once doing a retrospective on the peanuts specials) interviewed dean haskitt (the person pictured above.)

I remember I used to watch this guy until he had a seething meltdown over people not liking the Proud Family reboot.

"Fuck you, whitey, this isn't YOUR show, this is OUR show, so you can fuck off, we don't need you!"

Makes it extra funny that the show is known only for its negatives and for zero positives, it just kinda faded into obscurity and no one talks about it at all anymore.
