I remember I used to watch this guy until he had a seething meltdown over people not liking the Proud Family reboot.

"Fuck you, whitey, this isn't YOUR show, this is OUR show, so you can fuck off, we don't need you!"

Makes it extra funny that the show is known only for its negatives and for zero positives, it just kinda faded into obscurity and no one talks about it at all anymore.
I subscribe to Tariq’s channel. Idk if he’s the one who said that about people who don’t like the PF reboot. Compared to Mr. Enter and other YT reviewers, he’s among the only few people who still likes Family Guy (even some of the newer seasons). He does pretty good job expressing his thoughts and analysis on the show in contrast to everyone else who just complains about the bad episodes.

Oh man, he composed the theme which was used for The Feldspars, it's called "Bartamania A". Also used in Spongebob SquarePants:

RIP.

So one morning this week I had to get one of my tires replaced, and in the waiting room of the shop I was messing around on the TV, only to find a weird cable access channel that was exclusively airing retro cartoons. "Well this beats the shopping network" I thought to myself.

To my utter horror I was in the middle of a 60s Hanna-Barbera-thon. And it wasn't even the good shit, it was the obscure crap no one remembers like fucking Sneezly and Breezly, and Magilla Gorilla.

I was only in the waiting room for about 30 or 40 minutes but jesus christ it felt like 5 hours of nothing but flat panoramic shots, recycled animation, characters flying perfectly sideways and then landing off screen to save money, and the exact same character dynamic in every show. Grumpy authority figure and charming doofus.

The only thing I really like about these shows is how charming the minimalist backgrounds are, and ironically how much they remind me of early Adult Swim.

I cannot imagine the hell that must have been living with these cartoons. It's finally Saturday morning and all you get is this tripe. Even worse, imagine learning to animate only to pump this shit out for months or maybe years on end.

By the mercy of God some classic Popeye shorts came on, it was so refreshing. Well animated and varied visual gags, multiple angles of the same character, actual principles of animation. It's no wonder so many cartoons in the 80s were pure shit, you had nothing but hacks running the industry for years, and then when they're supposed to animate epic action they fall apart at the seams.

I’m now remembering listening to an actually pretty good mashup of the two songs.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=lpZzGqCyg94Seuss talk aside, remember when I brought up that upcoming movie that paints Cinderella’s stepsisters as good and misunderstood? Guess what, it’s another fucking therapy session for the writers.

Cinderella is the story of a girl who doesn't have any friends except small animals around the house (this person is clearly too retarded to read so I'm assuming she's whining over the Disney version) and is forced to wear rags and be a maid by her own family. Her entire life is this house she cleans over and over while getting yelled at. She gets what's supposed to be one night of happiness, which then snow balls into bagging a hot prince.

Is that not already a story of an outsider who doesn't seem to have a shot at happily ever after getting that shot?

Edit: Her very name is an insult and a constant reminder that they make her sleep in ashes. Come on. There are few characters more beaten down than Cinderella.

"Taiwanese."

Oh, okay, it doesn't matter that no one was on Cinderella's side for most of her life, she was white so she can't be an outsider. Of course.

"Well maybe Cinderella’s stepsisters had a reason for treating her like shit!"

Off other 2000s Cartoon Network shows, Double D is honestly comparable to Blossom from the Powerpuff Girls (the original one, obviously) and Bubbie from Flapjack.

You find them annoying as fuck and incredibly bossy when you're an irresponsible little kid just wanting to see action and destruction, but when you grow up and mellow out, you realize, "Holy shit, they're actually in the right most of the time", and it's just them trying to be responsible and look out for the ones they care for. As a result, they really grow on you.

Cartoon shows used to frequently have characters that even adults looked up to without any overt political agenda or leanings whatsoever. It's honestly sad to see what happened two decades later especially as a 2000s kid myself. American animation is now a total shell of what it used to be, completely and rightly overtaken by anime after it faltered so much over that period of time. This picture comes in perfectly handy for describing my feelings exactly about its current state.

Another example was Squidward of Spongebob series (all the seasons pre-movie ofc).

was it Metv Toons? because its sounds really familiar to me, the reason why they spam HBslop is because since its a channel for dying boomers they know it rate well with them so they will have 2 hout long blocks of just shitty old hanna barbera shows no one cares about, but i guess its better than paid programming or qvc shit

Another sign that the endless regurgitation of old properties has long reached it's "needless" and "nonsensical" stage, where they're rebooting shows and franchises nobody cares about, it looks like someone is bringing back the Snorks.
Wow, they really are scraping the bottom of the barrel. I had snorks on my "reboot candidate list" but I never thought it'd actually be rebooted. The only other one on the list to get a post-2010 reboot was Denver, The Last Dinosaur, and it's so insignificant Wikipedia lists nothing but the fact it exists.

If there's one thing I CANNOT fucking stand about these reboots/remakes is that they have to fucking modernize EVERYTHING.

Why can't these people just do a fucking show from the past without "updating" it? Why do we need constant culture references shoved in our faces? Why do we need characters to act like a specific IRL generation that wasn't even born during the time the show was created?

It's half out of touch executives telling the people making the reboot to

and half true woke believers sabotaging the work by putting in even more out-of-touch "updates" (troon/otherwise faggy characters, making female characters "girlbosses", etc.), to make it more in line with The Message™️.

I actually remember my brother loved watching reruns of the show on Qubo.

Did we learn nothing from trainwrecks like Yo Yogi and Quack Pack?

Anime has been suffering from this, too. Adaptations of '80s and '90s manga rarely keep it to how it was in-series nowadays, they have to modernize everything because Parasyte did it, except Parasyte actually paid attention to detail. I don't know why it is we've become so adverse to period pieces as a whole, whether it's to avoid having to show a pre-9/11 world or what.

It's all so tiresome.
