Anime has been suffering from this, too. Adaptations of '80s and '90s manga rarely keep it to how it was in-series nowadays, they have to modernize everything because Parasyte did it, except Parasyte actually paid attention to detail. I don't know why it is we've become so adverse to period pieces as a whole, whether it's to avoid having to show a pre-9/11 world or what.

It's all so tiresome.
Maybe it's because the well is dry with the timeless stuff so all that's left are "lol smartphones!" I mean, if the original thing told all the stories it can tell, what's left to talk about with the characters?

But why? Yes, it's fan-made, but why?
I know everyone is going to put horrifying, but given it is fan-made, it isn’t that bad. If this isn’t some autist trying to recapture his childhood, then this is very likely a small studio trying to spotlight themselves into the industry through a recognizable brand. A tech demo so to speak, giving the animators a pre-existing template.

This isn’t uncommon in the industry. For a recent example, puppeteer company Swaybox struck a deal with Warner Bros to produce a Robin movie after doing a demo using the Iron Giant:

Yes, these are puppets, makes this one hell of a showcase…

Dynamic Duo

If you have any interest in Batman, particularly Dick Grayson & Jason Todd, then this film will likely be for you. After the test, Warner and Gunn green lit them for a full movie. Some test footage was posted on their socials as they are doing castings:

Not onboard with Gunn's direction of DC myself, but this project is definitely one of the exceptions that has greatly peaked my interest.

Man between that staff photo and the ones taken of the ID software team after doom was released, AND the staff photo of the founders of image comics taken in 1992. It really is true, you never know what you have until it's gone.

Like that meme said, compare any game company's roster from the 90s-early 00s to 2010-Current Year, and you realize why everything sucks now.
