I think people are actually fine with losers, they just don't want to see someone who stays a loser for the whole show. Plot necessitates some kind of growth, and people dislike stagnation more than they dislike negative character traits.

And I agree with all of this wholeheartedly, I would have loved to have seen that show and a lot of my distaste for Bojack Horseman comes from that wasted potential. They had something very special with a very promising premise and a compelling cast of characters. But they fumbled the ball hard and turned it into just another Netflix adult cartoon that very occasionally scratched the surface of something deeper and more meaningful.

The show should have been a much tighter and more intimate focus on Bojack as a character, his trials and tribulations and his battles with his own demons. The show's perspective bounces around way too much to focus on too many characters and so you lose depth for most of them, and the writers are clearly uncomfortable with focusing on a complex and layered character, they will often begin to give a character layers and then UwU soft baby them to make them more a victim of circumstance than a bad person or the responsible party.

The last notable one I can think of was Soul, but that was less the point of the movie and just part of the plot.

The last episode of that tiny toons reboot was meh. Not good but slightly better than that show has any right to be, but I'm gonna rewatch an episode of the original to wash the taste of the reboot out of my system.

That's why I couldn't stand Todd's "it's you" speech, 90% of his writing is zany hijinks that ALSO screw people over just like Bojack does, why does the joke character get the big dramatic speech about Bojack being a dick when yesterday he was behind zombie dentists and accidental dictators and sex robot CEOs and shit?

Todd and whatever the main chick's name are the worst. Todd for the reasons you stated but then Nguyen for being every single bit the depressive sad sack with no will to change that Bojack himself has. In a well written show that focused on Bojack we'd reach a point where Bojack eventually realizes that those two are just dragging him the fuck down and that Caroline is probably the best friend he's ever had.

The Tiny Toons reboot was god awful! it's unwatchable. I think that was the only cartoon reboot show I couldn't get past the first episode.

Talking about shitty Steven Spielberg cartoons I downloaded Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain to see bad it was. I think I only saw one episode back in the day. It was just before Kids WB became "Oops! All Pokemon".

Oh don't get me wrong it is awful, god awful I agree. But it's last episode is probably the least bad episode ive seen, just dull and boring, And it's just a very dull and meh way to go out.


The original tiny toons survived after its third season in 92 till 95 via specials like night ghoulery and spring break.

Those specials were how you do a send off....to a show that was actually good.


Goodbye and good riddance acme looniversity. If you did ANYTHING good it's you've (hopefully) made it so nobody will want to attempt another reboot of tiny toons anytime soon.
