I'm so tired. I'm so tired of the Spiderverse art and the asians. It isn't even that much of a trend yet but I'm so tired of it.

Spiderverse was what I like to call a "sleeper flop". It's a movie that is critically and financially successful in its own time and lays the groundwork for subsequent films or style of film that are all varying degrees of bad, but the original "sleeper flop" can't be appreciated for the overrated shit heap it is until years later with the benefit of hindsight and subsequent films that mirror its flaws.

DreamWorks moved past it for a bit. I take Kung Fu Panda as a pivoting point for the studio where they actually try rather than just being but hurt over Disney/Pixar. How to Train Your Dragon was sort of a full-on breakaway even though it used Lilo & Stitch’s director.

Plus, Disney never had it in them to create a work as culturally enriching as The Boss Baby. Alec Baldwin as mini Trump is just so frickin funny, a true 100/10.

In serious, I think a bigger factor is that DreamWorks and Pixar heavily set the new standard for kids animation post-01. Disney clearly got the message and pushed to just mixing the two with 90s Disney for the Tangled era.

I love the artstyle still, it was breath of fresh air compared to the Tangled blend or Pixar realism. It really should be kept around as an art to allow 3D to have a little more character. Sadly, other than Puss in Boots, you are correct in saying that most of the works with it have mainly been the usual 2010s Millennial cartoon writing.

Personally, I think the bean mouth blend is what kills the modern films look. Puss in Boots had a more unique water color/paint look, and while not the greatest film, I think TMNT Mutant Mayhem had a really cool ugly comic aesthetic. Studios just need to get creative with it.

I thought about making an obscure cartoon or media thread then realized that's too much effort so I'll just ask; has anyone else watched God, the Devil and Bob?
What do you guys think of this show? I've heard of it for years but I got it in my recommended this week and ngl it's a cozy watch. Not an amazing show but y'know it's fun? There are a lot of cartoons compiled in one long video on YouTube. Moral Orel use to be but I also found Dr. Katz and Mission Hill on YouTube in full.
 
My mom and older brother really like this "Vox Machina" show, but I don't get the appeal. Looks like the same ""anime-style"" Netflix shit that Adi Shankar jerks off onto.

You guys ever see that Shankar made a Simpson animation where he gose to the Kicky mart and whines at apu for being a "hurtful stereotype"? He was also the mind behind the POWER/RANGERS dumpster fire back in the day.
He clearly hates being Indian and wants to be a white 2000s nerd.

Aren't they all comedians? They've got Brennan, the funniest guy from CollegeHumor, in it. I come back to this clip every so often because it just kills me:
If the rest of the series is like that clip, y'know, comedians doing a popular nerdy storytelling type board game while being really good at the roleplaying part, I could see why someone would like it.
