That is great, I love Bozzetto's work. Hopefully they'll tackle his other work.

Oh man, I used to have a DVD of this eons ago. It might not be as visually impressive as Fantasia, but it stands as a fine piece of Italian animation.
 
yeah yeah it's a black girl whatever, this is really well made:
The style is very very nice for 3D, but it has some serious audio and pacing issues. If this had more people and some more time in the oven it would really be something special.

Ho boy that's depressing.
I think a bigger problem is that expensive and time consuming TV animation can't compete with the pipeline that had been building itself online for years. In an hour you could watch maybe 2 or so episodes of a show or 20 meatcanyon videos.

Honestly what's ironic about a lot of modern plot focused shows is that they are better served by streaming anyway, because it allows viewers to go back and rewatch episodes to pick up on details. You can't do that with TV unless you use a DVR or look up clips online.

The problem is that a lot of streaming services are inherently predatory with their shows, setting up good shows and stringing people along for months just so they don't unsubscribe. How's anyone supposed to know what's good and what's just another string-you-along shitfest?

Streaming can't replace the excitement and anticipation of tuning in for a new episode though, when everything can just be consumed in one sitting and then forgotten about, it devalues content as a whole, especially animation which takes an inordinate amount of work compared to live action.

True. Be interesting to see which English dub they might get. Apparently they dubbed the first film twice. The second one sounds like it was done up in Montreal.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't he directly state his main sources were (besides the new testament ofc) the torah and apocrypha? rather than consulting actual roman historical records (especially about his trial)? I know the creator caused much of a fit about it but the art style, the way he promoted "fandom enjoyers" and how he framed it as "an honest retelling" really rubbed me the wrong way

There was also the whole "totally not gay porn vibes" that where being spread on their social media. Also, the creator being gay, this is clearly therapy for them.
 
There's been new clips of Regular Show: The Lost Tapes that were dropped the last few days.
The character designs in these clips look so off. This is apparently because during its initial run, the show was hand drawn with pencil and paper before being digitally scanned, and now with this revamp it's being animated all digitally.

I could understand the show looking a little different given the methods of how it was produced, but I wouldn't think it would be so bad to the point where they all look horrendously off-model. This screams either rush job, kneecaped budget, new animation studio that doesn't quite capture how their previous studio made shows, or a combination of all 3. Either way, I transHEART seeing my favorite 2010s shows being rebooted to fill in the content drought of the 2020s that CN has NO way of saving for their dying company! :0000

It's a shame, but at least it's something than nothing at all, the way it is nowadays. *sigh*
 
I like most of the animated shorts to come out of this studio, but this one is by far the least interesting.
You can't really get a grasp of the basic plot besides "Uhh.. the main character is based on an apple... and uhhh... worms? I guess?"

Reminds me of that one "first day episode" where Mordecai and rigby were noticeably off model.
