Look, if no one else is gonna say it, I will:
That looks like a dude.
If, when you crop the hair, your character looks like Dirk the Daring, then I'm sorry, you fucking suck at character design.
I have some experience with this show - not because I enjoyed it as a child, but rather because several of my friends were really into it, and for a humorous reason: The show had a bit of a status as a cult hit amongst the gay community, mostly because Funimation was a really pro-gay company and allowed writers and artists to throw plenty of shenannigans in that made fun of this fact, in much the same way that a pixar flick might throw an edgy joke to amuse the dads in the audience. Even people who knew nothing about the show knew this about it. Fucking
I know this, and I know barely anything about this show.
I bring this up for a reason:
This show was already fucking beloved by the gay community. From a purely Social Justice standpoint, there should be
no fucking pull for the usual shitty reboot, based on this alone.
Which is why this one's all the more baffling: All evidence shows this
is another Social Justice remake of an existing show: Not only do we have the standard blue checkmark brigade on Twitter losing their shit anytime someone says they don't like it (because not liking this show for
any reason means you're a monster that wants to sexualize women), but we already have the artist behind the reboot going on record declaring they never watched and don't care about the original, dismissing all criticism as sexism (despite a number of women apparently being just as frustrated with this reboot), and declaring that this reboot wasn't for the original fans of this show. Which is part of the usual cancer sweeping through entertainment these days, but it begs the question:
These remakes all tend to fail horribly. Who the fuck keeps bankrolling these?
