You know, this begs the question- Did anyone ever consider Jesus a wizard because of his described abilities like the whole "water into wine" thing?
No, nobody would say that. It's one thing if you're God incarnate and another if you're a human.
Yeah, it's not as though there are any examples of anyone else being able to perform miracles or other wondrous feats and abilities. But it still strikes me as hypocritical in a way. Like, it's okay if Jesus and God can have supernatural powers, but no one else can with these guys.
Still, Though the show uses witches and demons in a positive light, I doubt the show-runners are actively and purposefully endorsing the practice of witchcraft. just like how Harry Potter, which uses concepts like the Philosopher's Stone, doesn't actually endorse the practice of alchemy; but then again, look at how Harry Potter ruinedthe worst ofa generation.
Ironically that very same sitcom has the magic using main characters go up against angels, in a rare instance of heavenly beings showing up in non religious kid’s media.Disney's done other stuff with witchcraft before - they had a sitcom centered around wizards a decade back, after all - and I don't recall anyone becoming a Satan-worshipping cultist because of it.
That sucks; I grew up watching Billy and Mandy and I thought the project was interesting enough on it’s own. At least Atoms is man enough to refund the money and not actually run away with it.So some of you might remember that Maxwell Atoms had a Kickstarter a few years back for a project. You're probably wondering what happened to it.
That project is dead in the water now.
He was working on it all these years in his spare time (he still has to eat, after all), but unfortunately he ran into some problems involving the SAG that left a lot of his work unusable. So, needless to say, he has just cancelled the project and will refund all the backers' money.
It's sad I won't be able to see it, but at least, unlike a certain Mr. Kricfalusi, he's doing the honest thing.

As far as I can tell this MIGHT be a good thing given Titmouse's work, but given what Netflix has been crapping out recently I remain cautious.Netflix Inks Overall Deal With Animation Studio Titmouse
Netflix is expanding its relationship with animation studio Titmouse, signing a multi-year overall deal to produce multiple original adult animated series. Under the pact, Netflix will also have a first look at adult animated series developed and created at Titmouse.
The two companies have previously partnered on several adult animated series, including critically-acclaimed and Emmy nominated Big Mouth from Brutus Pink and upcoming series The Midnight Gospel from Pendleton Ward and Duncan Trussell.
“When Netflix asked if we wanted to go steady, we were thrilled. When we asked if it could be an open relationship, they said, ‘Yeah, of course. It’s the 21st century, kid. That’s the only way we’ll have it.’ Now we are friends with benefits and I couldn’t be more stoked,” said Chris Prynoski, Titmouse president and founder. “This new and exciting relationship will help quench our relentless thirst for producing animated cartoons. Excuse me, I’m gonna go carve NF+TM on a tree now.”
Titmouse is known for series such as Venture Bros., Big Mouth, Superjail!, Black Dynamite, Tigtone, and Metalocalypse.
“Titmouse has been at the forefront of the evolving animation industry and is the creative force behind an impressive variety of projects, including our very own Big Mouth and The Midnight Gospel,” said Mike Moon, Head of adult animation for Netflix. “We’re thrilled to expand our collaboration with Chris, Shannon, and the entire team at Titmouse as we continue to develop and produce bold original animation together.”
I kinda wanna see their previous stuff again. Motor City was great.I figured this is something worth reporting. It looks like Titmouse and Netflix have deal where the Netflix will produce original adult animation with Titmouse and also have first picks on whatever original adult animated series/projects the studio makes.

I do agree people really hyped the owl house to high heaven, especially 4chan on /co for some reason. While I do enjoy what's come out so far I do agree the comedy can be hit and miss compared to Gravity falls or the first two seasons of Star vs. I also agree the chosen one and weird theme was a bit overplayed, One thing I'm really hoping for is for the show to establish an actual main villain soon.I don't know if its unpopular opinion, but I'm not a fan of The Owl House? And whole withcraft contvoversy (seen at least 10 similar in the past, meh) has nothing to do with it.
I like Dana Terrace's artworks and maybe had too high hopes.
I like art style and animation/backgrounds and Eda is really fun. Episode 3 was better than previous 2.
But I'm not the biggest fan of the comedy style and I find Luz really irritating. And message "society hates weirdos/nerds" is at lesat 15 years late. Same with episode 2 and making fun of Chosen One characters that were almost non-existent in the last decade and only we had everybody overhating the trope.
I don't know, I expected better from Disney TV Animation that has been making good shows, with the expection of SvFoE?
It's a fantasy story. It works on different rules than the real world. Not really, not if you take the Christian cosmology that ultimately informs these things in any way seriously. Witches and demons aren't biological races, after all: they're states of being resulting from consciously choosing to embrace rebellion against God. One can no more have a "friendly" or "misunderstood" demon anymore than a friendly or misunderstood child-murderer.![]()
It doesn't work that way. It's a fantasy story. It works on different rules than the real world.
The writer controls how their world works within their story. Sure many will use rules established by various mythologies and religions locally or around the world but doesn't mean you have to strictly stick by it, but that's just how I see it.It doesn't work that way.
The Animaniacs Reboot visually is looking good, I am hoping it will be a fun watch. I am also with you and hoping the whole Wacko nonbinary thing is just a rumor too.Shifting gears a bit, an image from the upcoming Animaniacs reboot has been leaked:

Looks good, although someone's been spreading a rumor that Wakko is going to be nonbinary, which I hope is nothing more than a ruse. It'll be DOA to me if they're seriously putting that shit in there.
The original point of contention was Christian parents getting upset at sympathetic witch and demon characters, which, as I pointed out, is more or less analogous to making a show that revolves around sympathetic child-killers, from a Christian point of view. No amount of authorial rules-lawyering is going to change that. The writer controls how their world works within their story.
I saw that leaked image on Twitter, before it was deleted. Looks promising.Shifting gears a bit, an image from the upcoming Animaniacs reboot has been leaked:
