Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Good god, can we all take a moment to appreciate this beauty..

This new art style is fantastic and so much better than the generic Young Justice anime style of the past. It looks heavily inspired by Archer, but cleaner in a way.
It feels very campy.

Not really into DC animated movies because usually they are way too overboard in terms of violence and language, but this actually looks like the old school pleasant DC. Took them long enough.
At least they're doing it right for once.

First time I have ever seen this.

I recall one with the Power Puff Girls saving some Super Friends form the Legion of Doom. iirc it was by the people who did the WASSSSSAAAAAAAP fanmade thing after CN hired them.

Watching some of the old Captain American cartoons

"Someday, we'll be developed as you!"

(You know, those old 60s Marvel cartoons were basically traced from the comics.)

Yep, I suppose it made sense on a budget level.

Plus having great theme songs helped!
At the very least, I'm glad they didn't go all Clutch Cargo on this show and just have human lips superimposed onto the drawings. That would have looked so wrong in so many ways. What I do find funny is that this was by the same people who'd animate the 60s Spider-Man cartoon not long after.

Well I suppose it was a learning experience for them if they were just getting out of doing normal cartoons prior to doing action-oriented stuff like this.

Pronoun brigade are mad over a show that ended years ago.

Cheese and rice with all the crazy that was second black history pride month, they still have energy to bitch?! What are they mad for anyway, all shows that have their power plug pulled throw caution to the wind and do all the taboos and edgy shit they wanted but couldn't jeopardize their shot at another season. Just like Last-Minute Lesbos and Disney Deaths (or permadeaths, it varies.)

What's kind of funny is it's little-miss-perfect-but-imperfect-enough-to-have-fairies Chloe is the one who has such a doll. Plus gender neutrality needs to be mocked. 🚬

By the time Timmy got a dog I had long outgrown The Fairly Oddparents, so I can't muster any reaction stronger than "eh." Watching the baby doll stomp its Flash-tweened legs and spout ultra tame gender jokes is vaguely amusing in its novelty but ultimately a nothingburger of a moment. I guess that's what happens when you don't compulsively look for things to find offense in.

I capped some choice tweets from that thread as well as a second tweet made by the OP (they link to it below the video they posted):

Twitter stupidity is fascinating, but it's also really fucking exhausting. I'm glad I don't use it anymore, I have more important things to do than let children's cartoons affect my self worth and identity.

What caused the animation fandom to go down this route? Was it Steven Universe?

I mean, if they’re letting tame jokes from a children’s cartoon affect their very livelihood to point of wanting it banned for being “harmful”, perhaps depicting them as babies is rather fitting.
