Oh boy so for those of you who didn't follow the John K shitstorm (check his Lolcow thread) Katie Rice is one of the two women who have credibly accused John of being a predator of underaged women. The #MeTooing that happened last year to John was so disgusting that it's pretty much all but confirmed that the Ren & Stimpy reboot is also dead in the water.
Now here's where it gets funny, John K throughout the 90s repeatedly attacked Tom Ruegger's shows. To him the Animaniacs (but Tiny Toons especially) was a soulless corporate abomination, a raping of the Golden Age of Cartooning.
So the great irony is that John K has won. Ren & Stimpy are now frozen in time and will never see a reboot or remake, which for certain would be his greatest wish in that he had the grand majority of control over his magnum opus. Whereas Animaniacs by the show's own albeit joking admittance is a true unoriginal and uninspired grave robbing. Which to me rings as honesty in that they would be so rude to the series's creator as to deny him of any involvement.
>amazing pilots that should be a full series instead of rebooted tone deaf 90s garbage
She retweets while working on a reboot of a 90s reboot. It’s just like Dana Terrace; these reboots are nothing but clout builders for showrunners.
And they’re still on that entitled, butthurt “bettercartoon” thing. I still remember how they reacted when a pilot actually got picked up.
Sorry to distract everyone from questioning their post-Animaniacs sanity, but guess what was just confirmed to be dead despite various storyboarders leaving the project and the showrunner starting a new show on HBO Max.
This went down faster than the PPG reboot. I’m a bit bummed that Infinity Train may be going the same path but this is a good exchange.
The crossover with TTG where the writers heavily defended Roar has new humor in it now.

Actually, there’s a good chance that the R&S reboot is still happening; it was announced on CC’s upcoming slate and there’s some concept art of it floating around.
But everything you said is why I found it baffling that cancelling the reboot would be getting back at Kricfalusi. If anything that would be exactly what he wants given who he is.

But it did get rebooted. Remember? Adult Party Cartoon? And that was him having all complete control over it. You wanna say that was better than the Animaniacs reboot?
You know I'm seeing more and more links between progressive ignorance, media entitlement and childhood abuse every day. Don't care enough to research further though.

Good news and good find.
When this news gets widespread, I hope every piece of shit who joined in on the "hate this cartoon and get blacklisted" bandwagon last year gets called out and then some. They tried to capture TTG's lightening in a bottle and the shit didn't even last past one season. Live and learn bitches.

I hope IT gets the eight seasons the creator originally wanted. Doesn't seem like a huge amount of episodes next to the average cartoon season when you put them all next to each other.

I hope so too. Animated anthologies are a rare and ten episodes each over the course of eight seasons is pretty doable.
But by Owen Dennis’ own admission, production has halted and the crew have found different jobs. It’s not down yet but it all comes down to viewership numbers; it’s on the same thin ice as Glitch Techs and Rise of the TMNT.
Since nobody's mentioned it here or elsewhere as far as I've noticed, Gabe Swarr was also part of the Dumm comics collective along with Katie Rice. For those of you not in the know, Dumm was a bunch of Spumco wannabes, hangers-on and also-rans, basically people that generally drank up the John K kool-aid.
Also this might all be a way for Swarr and Rice to get back at John K by working on a reboot of a show he hates. For Rice the motive is of course obvious, but she and Gabe might be additionally motivated by the fact that John K once blasted their colleague at Dumm, Kyle Carrozza, on his blog by using his artwork as an example of bad modern cartooning. Kyle died a while back so the karmic loop is quite wide in this case.

oh that takes me back. You calling them all John K hanger-ons and wannabes, even Brianne Drouhard who is far from that, makes me suspect you're talking out of your ass.

Yup. Ass talk.
First of all even if you were right, Rice was groomed and abused because John K used his cartoon as a gateway. Why the hell would she want anything to do with it? There's no closure or accomplishment, just retarded shame. She's better off where she is now.
Second Where the fuck have you been? Carrozza didn't die from John K hurting his feelings. He's alive, had a cartoon on CN and just did work on nu-Animaniacs. The only one I remember dying from dumm was the nightmare theater artist. I want to believe not even the most hardcore Ren & Stimpy fan/John K apologist would an hero themselves over that jackass (though I'll eat my words if that happens).

I wanna say Steve Worth would, because he's the most likely person who would do it, but he's largely distanced himself from the guy. I assume he doesn't want his enabling to come out.
If you enjoy the feeling of morning your deceased grandparents, Family Guy's Animaniacs 2020 Deboot is for you..
No hyperbole, feel genuinely saddened and physically unwell having sat through that...
Made it to episode 10 and came here hoping I wasn't alone in my disillusionment, glad I'm not, despite seemingly every mainstream outlet praising the shit out of it like it was the second coming...
To quote a term coined by the late great Mike Stoklasa "passive progressive", and hell was it ever...
All the time screeching "THIS AIN'T YOUR DAD'S ANIMANIACS!!!", yeah no shit...
"Hey kids! Look! Fidget spinners! You love those right?! Wait! Wait! Smart phones and tablets am I right! BAZINGA!"
Trying so desperately desperately hard to be topical and hip with the youth they forgot the most crucial element, well written and clever comedy/jokes...
And that's just it...
Ham fisted "political satire" and post Seth MacFarlaneesq writing aside the biggest issue was plain and simple, it's wasn't funny...
Subjectivity or objectivity blah blah blah, I laughed probably twice, and at the risk of being that guy, I dare anyone hand on heart to say that it even came close to the original, in any regard...
It lacked any and all charm (something the original had in spades), it wasn't clever (despite it constantly telling me how much it thought it was), all the "jokes" felt tired and predictable to the point where even the 90's show would have said it's been done, and holy fuck the "animation", seen more fluid flash on early 2000's Newgrounds...
What the fuck was with all the terrible strangely out of place John K type gross out garbage?!
The woman who regurgitated food for her dog or when the Warners licked that grody pigeon's crusty eyes, what the fuck was that shit?!
When the fuck were the Animaniacs ever known for doing crap like that?!
Of course the high pitched prick loved it, seemed tailor made for his insufferably unfunny ass...
Like most things that I have trepidations and doubts with but really want to like (and I really really wanted to like this) I went in almost totally blind hoping to be pleasantly surprised (I was not), because of this I had no idea whatsoever of how the original creators were treated and how they had no hand in this disaster (sure as fuck showed), wish I had known, would have kept far far away...
Lastly, where the fuck was everyone?!
Oh yeah dead, no really...
Well kinda, but yeah no Slappy no Goodfeathers and no Rita and Runt...
6/10...
Nah this shit gets a hard 2!
Complain all you want but the only real losses we had from the paring down of the cast was Slappy Squirrel, and probably the Goodfeathers and Rita and Runt too. Did anyone ever like the Hip Hippos? Or the Flame?

I'm glad(?) to see the typical assessment of "the more actively a work attempts to proclaim itself superior to its predecessor, the less capable it is to stand on its own merits" hasn't failed yet.
