Anyone who has not done so should read Judge Bork's Slouching Towards Gomorra. Instead of opposing gay marriage and normalization of homosexuality on empty religious grounds, which could not be more ineffective, he discusses the concept of Defining Deviancy Down, also known as the Durkheim Constant, whereby a virtusou society and a societ close to Sodom and Gomorra may be vastly different, but they have the same quotient of deviant frince behavior, which is why a society must define deviancy upward, because the lower it goes, that fringe of borderline acceptable behavior goes to more and more destructive behavior.
That the so-called right was unable to articulate a fairly straight forward concept doomed it to failure. Of course, the idea that what other people do is just their business alone is also absurd, and is a delusion that is not easily countered.
