What Are Some Youtube Channels You Used to Watch?

I was browsing around and saw that nobody had made a thread for this.

So this thread is to take a look back at youtube channels you used to watch that you stopped watching for whatever reason. Whether it be you "grew out" of their content, they stopped posting, or any other reason. They can be forgotten gems, lolcows or just channels you enjoyed for a while in the past (even if you are embarrassed to admit it.

To start off, for me one of these channels is Friday Night Cranks they were a team of cousins Jared (the host), Kristen (co-host) and Kristen's brother (I can remember his name, who ran the stream and did alot of behind the scenes stuff). Their channel and weekly livestreams that they did on Stickam (along since defunct streaming service) where they prank called various stores, tech support, customer service and relatives of viewers. Some where hillarious to me at time (and some still now) and others were absolute garbage. They tried branching out by creating Psycho Laughing Chipmunks (Facebook page) (archive) an attempt at making an Alvin and the Chipmunks style music career with cover songs (all the songs have since been lost to time and pulled down from everywhere, though I am sure someone out there has copies) that were speed up that went absolutely no where after making a couple songs. They also some IRL pranks on fans families but that also never went anywhere. Eventually after Kristen and her brother left the channel and Jared trying to continue the show with a dwindling audience it was stopped entirely given up on last year and last I heard Jared is doing some late night talk show thing on Facebook.

My History With them: back 10-11 years ago when I was first really starting to explore the internet and youtube I stumbled across them. Being in my very early teens I thought that they were the funniest thing and tried to watch their livestreams on Fridays and watch every uploaded clip until I eventually stumbled upon the Call of Duty community (back in the early MW2 days) and after a little over a year from when I found them and watching all the time I eventually slowly stopped watching them entirely. I occasionally looked back to see what had happened to them and cringe at my past self for actually watching it.

when I first found them this is a call I thought was so funny at the time. Though I admit I still find the dolphin noises being made in the background pretty funny even now.

Looking back, I get why young me liked them and I also understand why I stopped, alt of their stuff was really repetitive but I enjoyed it and still like looking back on what once was my favorite youtube channel.

Classic Game Room is a major channel I stopped watching (new content from) for the simple reason that Mark moved to Amazon Prime, which I don't subscribe to.

I think most other channels I used to be in to that I don't watch anymore fall simply under the usual ebb and flow of being interested in a subject and then losing interest in that subject or they stop producing new content or their channel gets taken down.

For me, the Nostalgia Critic. Got to Moulin Rouge and wanted to throw up. Didn't have the opportunity to watch his crap for several years and decided to see how bad it got. Just damn.
I just watched 30 seconds of his newest video because of YT algorithm. I couldn't get to the stop button fast enough.

I used to watch smosh only because I didn't know any better.

Cinemassacre: Used to watch AVGN, but outgrew it. His last episode with Gilbert Gottfried was the first time in about 4 years or so I've watched him, and I wasn't very impressed with it. I like(d) James's videos where he's talking about old horror movies, but lately he's been doing more sketch shit with his friends and that weasel faced faggot Mike so I skip it.

Cinema Snob/Stoned Gremlin: Used to be a big fan of Brad as well, but just haven't found myself interested in his videos for a few years.

Undoomed: Like any anti-sjw video, you've seen one you've seen them all. He was the best of the bunch, but it got old fast.

The Amazing Atheist: Watched him before I grew up and realized I was dangerously close to being just as big a clown as he is.

I was a huge fan of James Rolfe aka the Angry Video Game Nerd. He was the first YouTuber game reviewer to actually own a collection of games, consoles and what not he can review whenever. Compared to the others who used emulators or only reviewed more popular titles; Rolfe was more authentic and I respected that.

Fast forward his passion for making videos has gone down tremendously. The Nerd character is a shell of its former self, the movie reviews are heartless, and I just don't care about Rental Reviews or James and Mike Monday's. How many times can a guy react to the same games before it gets old?

A ton.

I used to watch Screwattack a lot back in 2009-2012.
I watched the whole group of Hidden Block and Normal Boots, but I had stopped Hidden Block when Caddicarus was really the only consistently putting out content and Normal Boots very recently during the Projared shit.
Smosh was my go-to sketch comedy channel even past their decline and only stopped watching when Anthony left back in 2017. I dunno, I just kind of enjoyed their offbeat sense of humor.
And of course, The Nostalgia Critic too. Of course, as well as Linkara, Todd In The Shadows, and Lindsay Ellis before I realized that all of them are equally the same brand of lolcow.
There was a brief lapse of time that I watched The Amazing Atheist (the only anti-SJW channel that I had watched) before I realized how much of piece of shit he was.
There was also a brief lapse of time I subbed to Stefan Molyneux before I found out about Defoo.

  • I stopped giving a shit about SMG4 about a year ago, probably because of how they were just recycling some of the same jokes and goofy faces every episode.
  • I still occasionally watch AVGN, but only if he's uploaded a new episode. James just seemed to have lost his touch years ago. His latest episode with Gilbert Gottfried wasn't horrible, just very mediocre. I legitimately think the man's running out of ideas.
  • The same can be said for the Nostalgia Critic, except his latest content is just getting downright cringy to look at, although looking back at the earlier reviews, he wasn't really that great to begin with.
  • I stopped watching CollegeHumor for a while, primarily because it was nothing more than a Smosh clone at this point. I also stopped watching their sister channel Dorkly due to how pandering and repetitive its content was getting.
  • Like some other people on this thread, I unfortunately also watched the Amazing Atheist when I was a dumb teen, until I realized he was basically just another know-it-all neckbeard and a huge piece of shit.

HowToBasic. I eventually got tired of his “grunting naked guy makes a mess of his house” shtick as his videos got more and more nonsensical.

Honestly, even most of the newer videos where he tries to subvert the formula aren’t as funny. The best one he’s made in a while would probably be the one where he parodies all of those 5-minute crafts videos.

One of the first youtubers I ever got into was thecomputernerd01. He made parodies of pop songs, and some of them were pretty popular. Haven't really kept up with his channel since I was 12, so it was weird seeing newer videos. I also used to watch Chuggaaconroy and TheRunawayGuys a lot when I was in middle school. He's a really genuine guy and he still makes content to this day, I just don't have the attention span for watching Let's Plays anymore.

I used to watch Cinema Snob and I kinda just stopped watching his video mostly because I just got tired of them. I am not really a fan of what he replaced midnight screenings with it is less interesting to watch and the takes are less interesting because it isn't being filmed right after.

I also watched The Amazing Atheist but also stopped watching when I realized I didn't want to become a fedora tipper. I came back to his stuff around the time Drunken Peasants started and watched that for a while before eventually getting bored of them talking about the same people over and over.

I also watched some Call of Duty commentators like:

  • WingsOfRedemption (I watched him back at his height, he has always been what he is now)
  • OnlyUseMeBlade (he has become a massive joke)
  • WoodysGamertag (he has always seemed like someone who would backstab you to gain something to me, I just don't think he is someone trustworthy)
  • Keemstar (I remember him from about a decade ago, not much has changed)
  • MuzzaFuzza (I really liked his content but he just disappeared)
  • CaptainSparklez (I am curious how many people remember his old channel and username ProsDONTtalkSHIT)
  • and many others
I got bored with the game and also got bored with watching their content and eventually moved on to others things I still will go back revisit PKA on occasion like when Jim went on to talk about Wings (which was surprising to me at the time) but that is something I only do rarely when I am feeling nostalgic.

AntsCanada. It was weirdly compelling watching this guy with his huge ant farms. Also the guy was insane, having a boatload of fucking fire ants inside his house, no matter how well he kept them contained. I caught up in his videos after going through his playlists and forgot to go back and check for new ones.

I used to watch Ssohpk back in the day then the dude just disappeared from the internet
I used to watch him too and most likely still would be watching him if he didn't disappear. His girlfriend still streams and from what I have seen people hop in her stream an ask about him. She keeps saying that he will come back "eventually" but at this point I am not sure he will. I really liked his playthroughs of games and I really miss him.

I also used to watch The Creatures (the group he was a member of) but stopped watch regularly in early 2015 and by the end of 2015 I had stopped watching entirely and was only really watching ssoh's videos on his main channel.

With them it was I got really bored of their content, as well as the large number of members leaving it just crashed and burned. I checked back in when cowchop split off and watched them for a tiny bit before stopping and I watched their goodbye video which the way it was you could tell that Kootra saw the writing on the wall and Danz was in complete denial. It was sad to see them go but after some many people left it didn't feel the same and had lost it's heart.
