What Are Some Youtube Channels You Used to Watch?

Used to watch NerdCubed, but now I can't stand the guy's content because it's pretty much the exact opposite of what it was. He used to do relatively funny, edited one off videos on games, now it's largely unfunny livestreams, with very rarely some short bits of edited content on his main channel. What i find madding is that if I remember correctly he stated in the past that he didn't like (and by extension didn't want to do) livestreams because of all the dead air they tend to have, and he also rarely did series because he didn't want games to over stay their welcome. Honestly could probably talk more on him, but this really is the biggest reason I just dislike the guy, and I think that's all that really needs to be said.
Speaking of NerdCubed, I used to watch ManyATrueNerd. His wife/girlfriend is a total political sperg and as far as I can tell he's pretty left leaning too, but he was always pretty cool about it and never, ever brought his politics into his videos. He also knew his fucking Fallout. Over time, though, I just couldn't stand his format anymore (forty minute videos and tons of meandering), I wasn't interested in the games he was playing, and how badly he played games sometimes did start to grate a bit on me. I still go back to his Rome Total War and old New Vegas series from time to time, though, and it's not like he's changed for the worst (outside of playing Life is Strange 2, WHY). He's just not my cup of tea currently.

Dan has absolutely changed for the worse, meanwhile. I'd love to see more of your rant about him.

Before I knew what YouTube was, I watched Madness Combat and the Awesome Series on Newgrounds. Loved that edgy shit. Madness left my brain after a long while, and Egoraptor's last Awesome short Pokeawesome 2 was so disappointing, the punchline didn't work at all. He then transitioned to Game Grumps with JonTron and I didn't like the first videos they made, I didn't think their style of humor was funny in the slightest.

I also used to watch Chris Stuckmann, he had pretty good opinions and I saw some movies he highly recommended in his normal reviews, like When Marnie Was There and Kubo and the Two Strings, two movies I love. What I didn't like was his awful Hilariosity reviews that used the Channel Awesome format as an excuse to summarize the movie's plot and tell lame jokes. His annoying habits in his videos ("I grew up with [insert franchise here]"; acting out super autistic dialogue by himself as a skit, then laughing like a mad man) got me to unsubscribe.

One of my favorite channels at the time was Lost Pause, a Let's Play channel of visual novels and anime games. His channel was pure crack for me, it was the funniest shit I saw on the Internet. His playthough of Tokyo School Life is a highlight. Noble, the host, had a style of humor that was very peculiar: he used snarky commentary that made fun of tired anime tropes, had a hyped-up personality, indulged on ecchi fan service so shamelessly and told cringy jokes that worked. In March 2016, his channel got taken down for a week because of sexual content, and he gradually stopped his let's plays. His humor really suffered as a result of that, and I stopped watching his stuff.

Around the same time, I watched videos from his former friend The Anime Man. I thought his topics and vlogs on Japan were interesting and his takes were pretty funny, but I dropped him when he started shoving his girlfriend Akidearest in front of his channel (her videos are clickbait garbage).

I wrote a whole thing on him in one of the other threads, so I'll just post that here, just note it does touch on some shit I already mentioned, and it's not particularly elegant.
He's fine when he does edited content, but the problem is he doesn't really do much of that anymore. His content when it's not heavily edited I find incredibly dull, and I don't even understand how it's as dull as it is, there's streamers I can watch for hours without issue, yet I can't sit through a video of his. Best example I can think of is Planet Coaster, where he just spends forever doing nothing but place some lights, and he doesn't really have that engaging of commentary as it's just him saying what he's doing or will do next. Meanwhile I can get through a Vinesauce Joel stream of the same game with no problem due to him recording shit, and coming up with dumb ideas all the time, and actually sounding alive (which is ironic for a guy who loves skulls).

Another problem I have is Dan and his crew seems to have a bit of a ego to me, they kind of come across as the "if your opinion isn't like ours your wrong" type. From what I can tell his fanbase had told him that his unedited content was garbage, but instead of trying to come up with a middle ground he continued to push it because it was what he wanted to do. But over time it resulted in most of his fanbase leaving, yet instead of stepping back and thinking it had something to do with himself he just blamed the YouTube algorithm and continued to stray away from the content that made him popular, and of course he's praised by his fanbase because it's just a hugbox now. Of course there's also the Subreddit and Twitter drama, his Twitter in general, and I think a few other things I'm forgetting about that makes me think that as well, but I feel that's the best example.

Final thing I want to bring up is I've never liked the "boycotts" that he's done, for example his GTA one he seems to have forgotten about at some point as after he did a video on a GTA battle royale mod of all things months after he started, and I think he's done it on and off on his other channels since. His Bioware one where he deleted years old videos because some employee disrespected TotalBiscuit, which is shitty but I don't see how getting rid of years old videos helps send a point. Or his Nintendo boycott which in particular was stupid as he didn't even cover their games on his main channel, the only one that might've happened before was one on New Leaf, and that was afterward I think. Also mind you said boycotts were just about covering them, not purchasing them. He still bought Rockstar's games, if I remember correctly I don't think his GTA boycott applied to other Rockstar games, also I'd like to point out that unlike his Bioware videos the GTA ones are still up. He also still purchased Nintendo games and consoles, even though from what I can remember he didn't ever seemed to like them that much. It's always felt like his boycotts are more a excuse to complain about companies he never liked as opposed to actually trying to do anything, at least that's how I see it.
One more thing about him that I want to bring up about him that I don't like is that over time it's feels like he's been doing shit he thinks will bring in views. For example him doing things like PUBG and Rocket League even though he was rather vocal about not liking online multiplayer games. Or in the past year where he started doing some videos on Nintendo games, when he doesn't care much care for any of the games they do. I even think that GTA battle royale mod I mentioned in my little rant was him being desperate, because I'm pretty certain he also said in the past he didn't much care for battle royale games. Granted only personal speculation, but it really comes across to me as him picking games that he personally doesn't care for in the hopes that his audience does.

I used to be a fedora tipper so my subscriptions were mostly infamous spokespeople for the non-movement; Amazing Atheist, ArronRa, Nick Gisburn, etc... and, yes, even Steve Shives. I stopped watching them because I felt that they weren't being ideologically consistent when covering things like politics or social issues. Now, I see one of their videos by happenstance and I think they are just as retarded as the people they used to make fun of in the early days of YouTube. I can't for the life of me understand why I used to think they were smart. Probably my biases at the time if I had to guess.

That was my main issue with him, he constantly tried to "reinvent" his channel, it kept getting worse, and at multiple points said he didn't enjoy playing games for YouTube like he used to. I honestly wish he had quit, then, I would have completely understood it. What was the reddit/twitter drama about? I know he's a complete sperg on twitter regarding his political opinions, and years and years ago he was an obsessive defender of Doctor Who even when people were criticizing Moffat for his writing.

I never really mentioned the "reboots" he'd do with the channel, but yeah, I'd agree they're annoying and for the worst. Especially considering how often he'd just renamed shit for the hell of it, frankly that alone's probably responsible for killing half his fanbase. I also agree that I wish he'd had just quit, at least from YouTube, and frankly given how poorly he responds to criticism he'd be better just not working online in general.

Nothing in particular with Twitter, as you say he's just a sperg, most noteworthy thing I can think of is his tweets during the whole "Pewdiepie's a Nazi" thing. As for Reddit basically someone made a rather critical post that gained traction on his subreddit, long stories short this post and that guys replies is what caused Dan to completely leave Reddit. Here's a link to a reddit thread that covers it about one million times better than I could.

I don't necessarily remember him being much of a defender, albeit I do think I recall him defending some episode now that you mention it. But I do know he was a huge fan of Doctor Who, I believe he's even mentioned that he's a bit of a fanboy of it, certainly came across. Main thing I can remember is that he'd purchased Doctor Who stuff in PlayStation Home of all things, in fact might've been that where he made the remark. Furthers my point about him being soft with things he loves, and hyper critical about things that he has no interest in.

I used to watch LeafyIsHere, Nostalgia Critic, Mumkey Jones, and Game Grumps.

Left Leafy after that whole iDubbz debacle and decided his content was annoying.

NC's content was very samey and I got tired of listening to shitty jokes.

I didn't know Mumkey got the ban hammer from YT so I thought he deleted his account. Found out what happened and never went back.

Game Grumps is alright but I'm sick of having them spam my feed with bullshit. They got less funny over time tbh.

I’ve gone back and rewatched there sonic 06 play through from the golden age. Takes me back to a simpler time. God I miss the pre 2017 internet

Used to watch Shoddycast, back before they became Game Theory 2.0 (clickbait titles, thumbnails and general air of smugness included.)

I used to watch ZackScottGames, His minecraft series was awesome to watch since it was all on a server and you had a lot of people around. His killed his Minecraft content by slowly stopping the series when minecraft was starting to decline. The other content was boring and his voice was a bit wack

There is also a channel called ScoobyHubby where he uploads video of his cats doing stuff and having adventures with Voices over them called "cat clips". They even had a wedding like 2 of the cats where marrying each other. Of course the content wasn't that interesting after a while so i stopped watching. He seemed to have stopped uploading almost a year ago.

"The Minecraft crew" was also a group of people from a wide age demographic playing on a few of their private minecraft servers which where individually where a few of their series where. I believe they disbanded the channel is still owned by belbozTV who was the creator of the crew and the channel.

I use to love watching Youtube "Beauty Gurus" online.

Then I realized that all of their beauty "tutorials" were bullshit and I didn't need an untrained youtube "guru" telling me how to put on lipstick, foundation and eyeliner. I also realized that most of them are thread worthy and always involved in some drama.

I regret it but I use to watch Watchmojo's videos along with those beauty channels and Nostalgia Critic but ya know.

There was one YouTuber I used to watch when I was in high school called thecomputernerd01. I watched his videos almost religiously at the time. Most of them are just "lol-random" type videos, but he used to rake in tons of views, by doing parodies of songs by Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Black Eyed Peas, and so on. These days, he barely uploads and he puts like one or two videos a year (usually his annual New Year's Raps). I check in him from time to time just out of curiosity to see what he's doing and lately he and some of his friends got into a huge argument and he was threatening legal action. I haven't heard anything about that in a few weeks though.

Zack Scott has always struck me as someone who's a poseur and does game reviews for attention. Of course, I just described the majority of YouTubers.

I know this is a unpopular opinion but I dislike Jontron. When he reviewed games it was fun because he was a gamer and could make me laugh while watching him review whatever game he was playing at the moment. However, when he reviews a movie or just acts like a ham on camera he's boring.

If there's one good thing I can say, despite being kicked out of Normal Boots and Game Grumps, he's been able to find success on his own.

Was a huge Classic Game Room fan. As the years went on, Mark's reviews lost their charm. All the shifting around from platform to platform got frustrating, too.

Once Mark launched himself into space, things got less fun.

Gamester81 was another favorite of mine. He ran out of retro consoles and moved on to emulation machines. Nothing against that. Just was more interested in gaming history. Now that I think about it, Classic Game Room ended up in a similar situation.

There was this channel anout the Intellivision I liked that I forgot a month after finding it. Copyright ninjas probably got the poor guy.

Super Bunnyhop. The last year he's really went from being (mostly) independent to wanting to hang out with the big boys club with writers from news sites in his videos. Oh well.

I miss Classic Game Room and the slow death of Mark's channel was a bummer, but I imagine he's doing well with royalies from his film maker days. His old documentries with Gene Wilder popped up in my prime feed recently.

I found Gisburne looking for H.P. Lovecraft stories to listen to while I cooked or cleaned. Then I started looking at the rest of his channel and it was so cringey.

VintageCG has a load of fascinating videos on early computer graphics. Nothing has been uploaded since 2011, which makes me wonder if the channel owner died :(

Sad if true, of course I assumed the original poster probably ran out of stuff to share anyway and moved on.

I'm still reminded of Grumpy Jii-san and his anime reviews out in the desert. It was sad to learn later when he passed away. This was such a unique idea for reviewing these films yet it's sad his last one came out 8 years ago.

I watch WAY too much Youtube so this could be a long list so I'll just stick to the highlights.

Blaire White - I already covered why I stopped watching her in her thread which after reading realised just how dodgy she is. She hides it well.

Game Grumps - Dropped them like a hot potato after Arin chewed out a fan for sending Danny a guide to using badges in Paper Mario TYD during an episode. The reason the fanbase is so toxic is that any decent fans was turned off by Arin's bullshit years ago.

Nostalgia Chick - Started losing interest when she started going to university and went from a cool chick to a boring bag of wind. She's such a smug self-satisfied douchebag when she's not really saying anything that hasn't been said a million times before and it was lame then too.

Normal Boots (Continue?, PeanutButterGamer, DYKG and ProJared) - All threw Jon under the bus over his politics. I honestly think the Destiny debate was just an excuse. Continue? doing so pissed me off especially as he posted a video on his channel promoting them and even did a 2 part crossover (first part on his channel, second part on theirs) with them which I'm sure helped them a lot.

Anti-SJW Community (Shoe0nhead, Armoured Skeptic and Jeff Holiday especially) - With June throwing Lauren Southern under the bus to appease ContraPoints, Jeff Holiday bragging about bullying someone off the internet (don't care how horrible she was) despite being all about free speech and Skeptic being small name/big ego incarnate I just got jack of the whole fucking community.
