So shitting on JRPGs are always an easy target, right up there with coom. If anything, it's not Nomura for once but it is still Square Enix.

With that said; Chrono Cross has some curious designs. Most are typical JRPG shit. Also I migh be biased here becuase I wasn't a fan of the game as opposed to Chrono Trigger but I won't pretend that game had perfect character design either.

That aside;
Kid's design is on the better side but I cannot get over that dagger. Why is it in front of her vag? It looks like a dick. Your eyes immediately get drawn to her vagina and it just feels weird and gross.

At least she's not a literal six-year-old like Eiko Carol from FF9 but I still don't dig her design.

I dunno. If you're gonna go with a square jrpg I think Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song has some of the worst character design I've ever seen in a video game.
The concept art and outside of game designs reminds me of some kind of psychedelic 1970's drugged out hippy fantasy Michael Moorcock shit.

But the in game models are absolutely fucking atrocious.



The costume design for most of the characters is ridiculous. The weird anime style chibi shit combined with the western looking artstyle gives the whole game a creepy uncanny valley vibe. I'm not really sure what they were trying to go for with these designs but they're really ugly.

It's giving me Jojo vibes but it's also super over-designed and super busy. The art style of the in-game models though is godawful. The weirdly detailed head and the teeny weeny bodies do not go well together, good god.

The pirate fucker though is cool.

Mother fucker can only drawn 1 woman and every character outside of the "conventially appealing" main cast is the most garish, disgusting, unappealing design imaginable. Oda is a hack fraud of an artists and OP is actual garbage. "Foreshadowing tho", foreshadowing what?! Every episode is 75% fucking flashbacks for fuck sakes!

Eiichiro Oda has been in poor health due to high blood pressure and diabetes and has had to take a break to recover. That is why most of the OP anime has been retrospectives as of late.

Too many top mangakas has just dropped dead in recent years: Kazuki Takahashi (Yu-Gi-Oh! - 2022) Kentaro Miura (Berserk - 2021), Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball - 2024) I don't think it is an understatement to say this has people in Japan spooked at the idea of having yet another top mangaka dying because he worked himself to dead.

As for his characters, these run the entire gamut. One Piece character are incredibly outlandish but far from being bad. The ugly character are ugly for a reason, either for comedic effect or story related motivations.

His designs are unique enough to stand out from the standard "anime/manga" art style of the industry, so it is very recognizable from the rest.

Darktide is a fun game but good lord everyone is either hideous, has the worst haircuts known to man, or both, to the degree that people are obsessed with the female tech priest because at least we can't tell what she actually looks like. I get that Warhammer's not exactly a game about sexy people, but both a large portion of the NPCs, and player customization choices, are all so damn ugly.

Look at these clowns. The top two are NPCs that are story critical too.
