What are you looking for, KF?

Oh, I should probably mention this about my OP. This is what the character looked like.
I am being deadass. This is what she looked like but 3D. I am halfway convinced that she was the inspiration for the Minions (the original animation was uploaded before Despicable Me well before Despicable Me hit theatres IIRC)

I'm looking for something I BELIEVE is a tv mini-series based on "War of the Worlds", but I also know it's NOT a tv mini-series based on "War of the Worlds". It would be from the mid 80's and it had something similar to those big walkers from War of the Worlds, but their legs were red. Everything had a red hue actually and it was pretty post-apocalyptic and the story might have been about people just hiding and trying to survive. I think it was British.

I'm looking for two things:
One is an old karate movie in color from many years ago. A young guy moves into a neighborhood with a lot of Mexican gang bangers and has to fight them. At one point some old veteran with an old shotgun helps him out, but that's all I remember. I want to see it again.
Two is software to read some manga better. I got a new comp with Windows 10 and the picture viewer sucks donkey excrement.
