What are you playing right now?

I've been really enjoying Hitman III. It's basically the whole rebooted trilogy in one game so there's shitloads of great content, but there's several annoying asterisks and disclaimers that stop me recommending it.

Bullshit the first, the content is split between so many add-ons and DLC I don't even know what the fuck I am buying without a third party made guide.

Bullshit the second, Epic Games had a one year exclusivity deal for a year and when it released on Steam it was STILL full fucking priced. Wait for sales guys.

Bullshit the third, it has an always online requirement for a bunch of shit, which is completely retarded for a single player sandbox game. Oh and getting disconnected from their shit servers abruptly pauses gameplay too, fuck off.

It's all those things you mentioned that make me hesitant to buy it. A real shame as from what I've seen, the games are pretty great.

Ive been playing that Triangle Strategy switch game. Im a sucker for "Shakespearean political bullshit" like Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem, when it comes to games like that. I used to be better at them, this one has a lot of nuances with terrain shit and certain mechanics and how they impact strategies, but it does make you think and go out of your way in order to utilize them--I guess to be accessible to people who dont want to get that autistic about it. I could see some mechanics being good for setting up some good combo strategies but it also feels like its a lot of everything having to line up just right. Its hard to describe compared to something like Final Fantasy Tactics where that stuff is there, but it doesnt matter much even if you are trying to use it, and the whole system is still a rock paper scissors simple kind of tactics system. So far I havent seen it as easy to break as Final Fantasy Tactics games either, although some of the fun of those games was building god-tier job combos.

I like the art style and I like the game but I am someone who kind of gets anxious and freezes up at choices sometimes, am I making the right one? Its a game where choosing a path is the main draw, and it does a decent job of when presenting a choice, not doing what some games do by having a clear "good, neutral, bad" response. Instead the values are "morality, liberty, and unity" which arent mutually exclusive so it can become a little more blurry I guess. I guess you could make those analogous to good, neutral and bad, in some of the choices the game has you make though, so maybe its just me.

Totally agree. I'm so used to the Mass Effect style "choose this if you want to be a badass/good guy/asshole" choice system that makes it super obvious what you're choosing, but what Triangle Strategy does so well is present most choices as being relatively reasonable even if you yourself think they're wrong. I even like how it paints House Wolfortt and some of your choices as being unrealistically idealistic with bad consequences that don't measure up to going the more realistic route without just making people like Benedict sound like opportunistic assholes. They're just telling you that following your ideals is gonna be fuckin hard and you'd be better off just choosing a compromise that makes some people unhappy, not playing to some predetermined role that kind of storytelling trope wants them to play.

And maybe I'm just too much of a sucker for Shakespearean bullshit too but I didn't see too much of a problem with the voice direction either. It wasn't dry to me, it was just subdued. Other than Benedict who could have stood to emote just a bit more in situations that reasonably justified it.

The final choice had different heart-breaking consequences too no matter what you did, if you didn't go for the true ending, and I wasn't expecting that at all.
That actually sounds pretty interesting. I'll have to give it a look at some point.

I just finished playing De Blob for the first time in a decade. It was pretty good. The game is pretty fun, coloring in buildings and killing creatures made of ink. It has a lot of personality in the art style and cutscenes. I like the Color Underground, even if they just communicate in gibberish. I also noticed Bif, Prof, and Blob are voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. The soundtrack is outstanding. Blissful, Euphoric, Brazen, and Revolutionary are tracks that really stuck with me.

Baseball bat run on New Vegas until Agent Under Fire arrives in the 📫

I've been playing Ghost of Tsushima, just finished completing the 3 part raid online. It was tough but i finished it thanks to really good players that carried me lol. I've already finished the main campaign but have yet to play the DLC. I will most likely beat the game again on NG+.

Playing Weird West. I'm really enjoying it so far, about 4 hours in, though it's already starting to seem a bit shallow. I didn't look into this game much, just got it because friends were playing it and it was on Gamepass, but it's reminding me a lot of my time playing Fallout 1 and 2 as a kid which is really great even if the game as I mentioned doesn't come anywhere close to those in terms of depth.

After liking (yet not finishing the GameFly rental of) D:OS2 and Wasteland 3, Weird West is pretty nifty. Tried it out on Game pass and will play that in between ranked Apex.

Hardspace Shipbreaker. Yeah it’s a beta that costs $25, but I tried Warhammer 3 and very quickly concluded that I’m going to wait for the whole map campaign.

Anyway, in Shipbreaker you cut up spaceships in space. There’s a vestigial plot but it’s mostly just chopping up spacecraft. I enjoy it, but I am also a fucking weirdo, so your mileage may vary.

Going for plat on elden ring (best soulsborn game apart from bloodborn) and just got: Tiny Tina's wonderland. Elden ring highly recommended. Weird West seems kinda interesting as the ultimate fallout1/2 / wasteland 1-3 crossover.

What do you think about Wonderland? It's getting really good reviews but Borderlands3 being such a shitshow is making me cautious.

Been playing a few phone games lately.

Wing Fighter-a decent looking Raiden bullet hell game. Moderate ad presence depending on whether you want to spend on in-game diamonds or not. Finding fun set-ups for multiple weapons is really fun for me, but it can be a bit grindy at times.

Fire Emblem Heroes-This game is far better than I expected. I haven't seen a commercial at all and don't feel obligated to buy Feh Pass or to exchange real money for in-game currency. It's casual Fire Emblem, sure, but that means that the mechanics in it have been fine-tuned for over 20 years.

Nier Reincarnation-Uninstalled it because I don't like how it handles its ATB gauge system. A general lack of skill variety in the early game makes the characters feel same-y. Basically, if I had enough Force rating, I can win the fight with minimal input via skills--mostly some variation of attacking--or get stomped from not having high enough stats. JRPGs figured out how to vary turn-based combat since FF I. It's so boring.

If you find the stories interesting, try to find cutscenes posted on Youtube. To me, it feels like the short stories the dev team had lying around. The aesthetics of this game are neat, but it just doesn't make up for the game play.

Haven't gotten enough playtime yet to decide if it was worth the price or not but it seems pretty sweet. If you like the general gameplay of Borderlands you'll probably enjoy this one.

Finally got melee weapons, large selection of abilities/spells and the ability to properly level up is nice, the esthetic looks good, the overworld map need some getting used to but I don't dislike it. Co-op is a blast like previous titles.

I like it so far, need to play more to recommend or not though.

Gotten into the “Ultra” content for Super Star Ultra. Was pleasantly surprised to playthrough a remixed version of Spring Breeze that’s slightly more accurate to the original game. And it included mini-bosses from Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland. As someone who was nostalgic for NiD, that was really cool.

Now I’m playing Kirby 64 again. Then I’ll probably head back to finish up the rest of the Ultra content.

Escape from Tarkov is always going to be my game of choice, the cheaters are a plague that, understandably, keep most away from it. The mechanics and intricacy of the gear/loot is unparalleled IMO. The fact that it is such a small group of devs and not some AAA studio exponentially increases my respect for the work, plus no DLC charges. Just the sheer brutality and unforgiving nature of it really tickles my pickle, the tense moments and big dick plays are the fattest dopamine hits I ever get. I'm really just a glutton for punishment in the end. After all, I still play Battletoads to this day, going on 27 years and still have yet to beat that forsaken game. Can literally ace the turbo tunnel by muscle memory, dead serious. I'd be lying if I said I never destroyed a physical copy out of pure fury. Thank god Gold and Silver pawn keeps extra carts for me in the back.

I sperged out on Elden Ring and Strangers of Paradise back to back and haven't been able to get into anything since. I have an infinitely long "backlog" but nothing is catching my interest.
