What are you playing right now?

I got sucked into Space Engineers. It's pretty fun once you mod it out right.

Playing a pirated copy of God of War on PC after having beaten it on PS4 a few years ago. It's an all around excellent game that should by played by anyone that enjoys video games generally. The writing and story is compelling, the combat is dynamic and never gets stale, the visuals are stunning, the voice acting is convincing, the boss fights are epic and thrilling, exploration is rewarded, satisfying crafting and collectables. The game lives up to it's hype.
I enjoyed my time with the older games last Summer, how does it compare to them?

It is a very different game, with different gameplay but it is very well done and has a very good answer for the question of "Okay what does happen after Kratos destroys his little corner of the world because he was a very angry boi?"

Banjo-Kazooie. Never really played it before, it's pretty good for what it is. I completed the first tutorial area, and I gotta say, the camera puts SM64's to shame. Still a little clunky on the controls but what can you do.

I'll play more later, I don't really feel compelled to continue despite liking it.

Came across an "Unofficial Sequel" to The Great Giana Sisters called "Giana's Revenge" made in 2009. These guys went all out, even made a port foe it on the GameCube and Wii. Shit is HARD though, like you need to be EXTREMELY precise with your jumps and timing otherwise you're going to die... A LOT. Thankfully there's unlimited continues and a password system if you ragequit and come back the next day.

Isn't that usual for classic platformers?

Also I heard there was an official one called Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams where you can flick between sunlit uplands and rainbows and unicorns world and emo world at the flip of a button and some things in one version of the level might not be in the other and vice versa. Sounds like an interesting idea to be fair but I've not played it.

The Hitman trilogy on Game Pass. Thank you IOI for letting me know to wait before I just bought each one when it released.

Let me give you a perfect example of the kind of bullshit you'll be dealing with in this game.

These "Fire Pillars/Platforms" are a common occurrence in almost all of the worlds and levels. Notice how I'm barely touching the air that it looks like I'm standing on thin air (the grassy vines are NOT standable/walkable platforms). That's because if you're even a tiny pixel next to the fire, it's instant death (even though you have a lifebar, there's plenty of enemies and stage hazards that are One-Hit KO's). So basically, if you miss the edge, you die at the bottomless pit. If you hit the edge but are too close inside, you die from the fire.

Here's a close-up in a different stage

This is the closest you can get without dying to the fire. Keep in mind you're jump is a bit "floaty" as well (think Super Mario Bros., which is what The Giana Sisters is literally based on)

There's also foreground objects that you're not quite sure if it's a hazard or not until you do trial and error shit. There's also a few leaps of faith you have to make in order to progress.

Regarding The Giana Sisters series, there's a DS game, which is challenging, but not hard as balls like this unofficial sequel. The Twisted Dreams game you're talking about I've played on the WiiU, it's 2.5D, and yea you can switch between the two girls with a button and you're supposed to use their powers to get to certain areas of the level. It's ok. Only touched it once, never got around to actually finishing it.

I've never played the OG C64 game though.

Throne of Darkness - an old Diablo-like game based in Japan where you control multiple people instead of one. The frames per second are atrocious but it's a fun little nostalgia game. Think some members of the Diablo team actually worked on this

.Hack//Infection - used to love this series as a kid. A few years ago Sword Art Online got massively popular and I thought "huh, that reminds me of something" so I came back to it. Interesting little offline MMO simulator but it does show its age

A few years ago I looked everywhere for a torrent of Throne of Darkness but couldn't find it anywhere. Not on steam, not on GoG, just couldn't find it.
Where did you find your copy?

edit: nvm I just found it on GoG, and it's on sale too. I am so happy they added it. I really wanted to play this again and now I can. I remember liking it as a kid but didn't get far.

Currently replaying DMC4 and DMC5.
Legit no idea why tf as a kid I kept hoarding all the proud souls in DMC4, I'm just dumping them all on Nero and wrecking mad shit it's so satisfying.
Charge shot 3 is pretty much how I get through Bloody Palace runs. Stuns every enemy, boost style meter insanely high, and can even kill Blitzes if utilized right.

Yeah found on GoG. Best of all for me is that it works surprisingly well on Linux.

For other "missing" games you might wanna check out http://myabandonware.com. It ain't comprehensive but can usually point you to the right spot

Stupid question, can you actually kill the faults. I'm on the Dante portion and I fucking hate those stupid asshole starfish that keep poppin out of the ground.

Yes, they do take damage, but since you're jumping out of the way anyways, they're only worth it for green orbs. They're just there to distract you. In general, Dante in this game has a lot of trouble doing damage and it's really noticeable when fighting Blitzes since you can only hit them if you Royal guard immediately after every melee attack. I want to say use the Pandora Krull weapon, but that uses up the disaster gauge.

Hitman TM is such a well executed game with so much stupidly enjoyable content. I don't mind that I ultimately paid over $100 over a several year period. Don't look at this spoiler video if you haven't done the Hitman 1 campaign.

Insane to think IOI almost replaced David Bateson when they made the infamous Absolution. His voice and delivery is so much fun
