Barb definitely had no interest in Sonichu, but Bob (with his letters he wrote to Chris when he was a child) was aware of the character and was interested. They were aware that Chris' antics was brining attention to them, and the most common sense thing to do was to cut the internet off. If Borb wasn't interested in communicating with Chris and trying to be parents, they should've just shipped Chris off to a camp or military school. I guess they were too old to keep up.

It took Bob a while to learn of trolls. Unfortunately, he thought trolls were there just for Chris and not anyone else who exhibits behavior similar to him. And it showed when he escorted Chris to the date with Emily. Whether he did so on his own accord, or Chris asked him to is unknown.

I would say the first week, or in fact maybe even the first two years it wasn't as bad as things led to. The "cut the crap" issue that people had with the Chandlers was their homophobia and the horrific state of their home, none of the troon shit or merge shit was even an afterthought. In fact the levels of devolution Chris would undergo are still stunning. You could talk to Chris from 2010 like a normal person. People that got into chris by only modern Chris don't know what he was like 2011 or 2010. That impending hopelessness wasn't really there yet.

I honestly think Barb was against ideas like that simply for the fact that if Chris wasn't around, Bob might not have had any reason to stick around with Barb. I'm thoroughly convinced Barb did everything she could to get pregnant in order to trap Bob into staying with her, given how many other guys walked out on her. Same with getting Chris to be independent. I think when Bob's original kids were adults, that's when he left his first wife. Barb seems devious enough to hatch a scheme like that.
